Remember the grammar worksheets? Circle the noun, underline the verb, and somehow never write a better sentence because of it. Yeah. We're done with that. In this session, you'll explore why traditional grammar instruction hasn't moved the needle on student writing and what actually does. Drawing on current research and classroom-tested practice, you'll dig into an inquiry-based approach that puts mentor texts at the center, invites students to notice and name what writers do, and transfers directly into their own writing. This isn't about throwing grammar out the window. It's about teaching it in a way that sticks, where students use language with intention, power, and craft. You'll leave with a clear framework that fits your existing writing block, works across grade levels 2 and up, and requires zero dittos (yeah, dittos are from the 80's, too). Buckle up. The future of grammar instruction is way more interesting than the past.

This course is designed as a community of practice. Learning is social, iterative, and grounded in students' own classrooms. Technology tools are integrated throughout as a professional learning infrastructure, not as substitutes for human connection.
