This one hour session will effectively help you "unpack" the key concepts and subconcepts for grades 4-6. Participants will leave with a toolkit of suggested activities and lessons developed by educators across New York State.

14. Breakout EDU: Learning Through Games

Breakout EDU is an immersive learning game platform that brings the excitement of "escape rooms" into the classroom through physical and digital games. Breakout EDU challenges students to work together to solve puzzles and open the physical or digital locks. Breakout EDU consists of an online platform and physical breakout kits. The web-based platform contains over 800+ kits and over 800+ digital games for every subject and new games are added each month. If you have a subscription and would benefit from a fresh look, this session will provide a comprehensive overview.

In this session, participants will learn about the more advanced tools: adding videos, adding voice or video comments, and creating screencasts ( students can explain their answers and their thinking!) We will be joined by a National Academic Advisor from Renaissance presenting on Renaissance's 'ecosystem' and how it can help you and your students succeed. Topics will also include new features and reports in Star to help you analyze your data.

After lunch, the focus will move to product specific topics, including Star, Freckle, myON and Accelerated Reader.

A few days before the event, we will send an agenda with dates and times for each session so you can come and go as you choose! We'll also be asking if you plan to attend in person or virtually.

18. Minecraft EDU: Using Pre Made Content (Two Session Series)

Minecraft is known as a "blocky sandbox in a virtual world". The Education Edition provides teachers with additional features and safeguards for classroom use. This two part series focuses on using pre-made lessons, immersive worlds, and quick build challenges available from the Minecraft EDU portal.
