Western NY Digital Consortium Kick-Off

Program: Professional Development

Audience: District Digital Leadership Team, 3-8 representatives per team

Dates: 1/31/2020

New
The K-12 Digital Consortium was created to support K-12 instructional technology innovations and share lessons learned as a collaboration between the University of Rochester Center for Learning in the Digital Age and over 20 districts and BOCES in the Rochester region - including Wayne-Finger-Lakes, Monroe 1 and Monroe 2 BOCES.

This half-day free workshop has been designed primarily for teams from districts interested in joining the Consortium, as a way to develop a common vision and begin the networking process. These districts are encouraged to send a team including leaders and decision-makers in charge of their technology innovations, as well as teacher representatives.

Districts who are already Consortium members are also invited to send a team, to both take advantage of this valuable professional development and networking opportunity for teachers and school leaders who may not yet have participated in this event, and also to "give forward" by sharing their own experiences and lessons learned.

The workshop has been designed to develop a shared vision of what it means and what it takes to successfully implement and leverage technology district-wide to enhance the educational environment, share information about what the Consortium can offer to support these endeavors, and begin the networking process by having participants share challenges and best practices about a few selected topics. As such, the workshop is very experiential and interactive, and includes several group activities - some to be conducted with members of the same district team and others involving participants playing similar roles in different districts. It will also include a few readings and other tasks to be completed online in preparation for the face-to-face workshop activities.
