Starting in 2026-27, the NYSMHA Coaching Program will be available through BOCES as a shared service. Our coaching model is designed to support and strengthen school-based professionals whose roles contribute to student mental health, well-being, and school success at every stage of their careers. This may include members of a district's collective care team, as well as administrators, educators, student support professionals, and other staff whose work directly impacts students and families.
Through personized coaching, skill-building, professional development, and connection to broader professional community, we help participants navigate challenges, strengthen their practice, build leadership capacity, and grow in confidence. All coaching is grounded in the NYSMHA Career & Capacity Building Model and our commitment to building sustainable capacity within schools and districts.
The program focuses on reducing burnout, increasing self-efficacy, strengthening professional capacity, and ensuring that school-based professionals have the tools and support they need to make a lasting impact. We have seen remarkable outcomes, including 100% retention among coached clinicians since 2022, significant increases in self-efficacy, and strong feedback regarding the program's impact on professional confidence, connection, and effectiveness. Coachees have remained in the program for 2-3 years, allowing coaching relationships and professional growth to deepen over time.
