1. Thinkering Collective Fellowship

2. Asynchronous Session: Lead Evaluator of Principals-Annual Refresher

Audience: District Administrators that are Lead Evaluators of Principals

Dates: 6/2/2025

This refresher is designed for current lead evaluators of principals who are seeking to fulfill annual training requirements for updates and annual recertification/renewal as a Lead Evaluator of Principals in accordance with their district APPR plans. Activities are aligned to the nine required training components. This Annual REFRESHER session will only provide recertification as Lead Evaluator of Principals. Attendees who have never been initially certified as a Lead Evaluator of Principals in prior school years must attend the Initial Lead Evaluator of Teachers 3 Part Series if they have never been appointed as a Lead Evaluator of Teachers previously and then attend a 1 day Initial Lead Evaluator of Principals to fulfill district APPR requirements for Lead Evaluators of Principals. Attendees who have been previously certified as Lead Evaluator of Teachers in prior roles only need to have completed the 1 day Initial for Lead Evaluators of Principals. 3. Lead Evaluator of Teachers-Annual Refresher- Self- Paced Course (Asynchronous)

This refresher course is designed for current lead evaluators of teachers who are seeking to fulfill annual training requirements for updates and annual recertification/renewal as a Lead Evaluator of Teachers in accordance with their district APPR plans. Activities are aligned to the nine required training components. This Annual REFRESHER Session will only provide recertification as Lead Evaluator of Teachers. 4. NYSED Blue Ribbon Commission's Portrait of a Graduate (Asynchronous Session)

The NYS Blue Ribbon Commission has been working since Fall of 2020 to analyze the current educational system in NYS and the requirements in place to earn a high school diploma. In Fall 2023, the BRC presented a set of 12 recommendations to Commissioner Rosa and the Board of Regents for consideration to transform the long established system to be future focused, and better serve the needs of the diverse student population across New York State to become prepared for college, careers, and civic engagement. Once adopted, the NYSED will establish implementation actions and timelines for educators at the local level. This asynchronous session will provide an introduction to the main transformative recommendation, the proposed NYS Portrait of a Graduate. Learning Outcomes: Participants will be able to identify the 7 defining characteristics of the student profile & their relationship to the future NYS graduation requirements. Participants will be able to begin to connect their local practices at the district, school, and classroom level to determine individual and collective readiness steps.

5. Fundations Level K Virtual Launch Workshop

This one day, virtual, Fundations Level K specific Launch Workshop provides the practice and guidance needed for educators to effectively begin teaching the Fundations curriculum for the designated Level K. Teachers should attend the workshop level that corresponds to the program level being implemented. As a result from attending this training, participants will be able to: Identify the skills taught in their designated Fundations Level, such as, but not limited to: print awareness; phonological awareness; phonemic awareness and the alphabetic principle; sound mastery; phonics; vocabulary; high frequency/Trick Words; fluency; comprehension strategies; handwriting, spelling, and punctuation. Understand the principles of instruction: explicit, sequential, and cumulative instruction that engages multiple learning modalities with multisensory instruction, repetition, and immediate, specific feedback. Identify and understand the use of all materials in the Fundations Teacher's Kit and have a sense of how to find and use the many extended resources available in the Fundations® Learning Community (membership included with participation in this workshop). Use the Teacher's Manual to prepare a daily learning plan and practice activity procedures. Visualize the flow and pace of a full Fundations lesson completed with fidelity. This in-person session is designed for building and district leaders in order to develop skill and confidence in supporting evidence-based P-12 mathematics teaching practice. As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to: Understand the research base for effective and equitable mathematics teaching and learning Addressed in NYSED, Numeracy Brief 8. Recognize and address key tensions in mathematics instruction and communicate these sensitively to staff. Support mathematics teachers' professional learning through content-specific, practice-focused reflection, coaching, and feedback. Build and sustain systems and structures that promote ongoing teacher growth and collaboration around mathematics instruction. Confidently lead discussions with staff about the numeracy briefs, starting with "The Research Base for Mathematics Teaching and Learning," and effectively share other briefs to deepen collective understanding and practice. This session will help leaders translate research into actionable leadership strategies that foster equitable and impactful mathematics teaching throughout their schools and districts.

9. Understanding the Research Base and Debunking Myths in Mathematics Teaching and Learning (Numeracy Briefs 1 & 2)

This in person session is designed for K-12 teachers and school leaders in order to develop skill in evidence-based mathematics teaching practices and deepen understanding of key research insights. As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to: Describe the five interwoven strands of mathematical proficiency essential for student success: adaptive reasoning, strategic competence, conceptual understanding, productive disposition, and procedural fluency. Explain the importance of culturally responsive and sustaining teaching practices that connect students' mathematical learning to their cultural, linguistic, and community resources. Identify and debunk common myths about mathematics teaching and learning that impede effective instruction, such as fixed ability grouping and speed as a marker of competence. 12. Safety-Care Crisis Prevention Recertification Session

This one day, in-person, Safety Care Recertification session is designed for K-12 educators and staff members who previously completed the 3-day Initial Safety-Care Trainer Training program. As a result from attending this session, participants will refresh their knowledge and understanding of strategies to prevent and manage behavioral challenges while also effectively teaching replacement behaviors. By implementing Safety-Care practices consistently, it is likely to result in a more positive reinforcement-based approach, the development of new skills, and fewer restraints.

This in person session, is designed for high school Chemistry and Physics teachers and curriculum leaders in order to develop skill in understanding and planning effective implementation of the newly released New York State High School Chemistry and Physics Science Investigations. As a result of attending this session, participants will be able to: -Describe the structure and key components of the New York State Science Investigations for Chemistry and/or Physics. -Analyze the outline and expectations for each released investigation to ensure alignment with state standards and scientific practices. -Collaborate with colleagues to review specific investigations and share instructional strategies to support student engagement and mastery. -Identify research-based best practices for integrating inquiry-driven investigations that promote deep conceptual understanding and skill development. -Develop actionable plans to incorporate the Chemistry and/or Physics investigations into their home district curriculum with attention to pacing, resources, and equitable access. -Reflect on the role of teachers and curriculum leaders in fostering student proficiency and positive scientific identities through effective use of these investigations. 20. Child Abuse Training

This online course will teach participants to report any suspected child abuse or maltreatment. In New York State, specific professionals are "mandated" by law to report cases of suspected child abuse and maltreatment. Participants will fulfill requirements mandated in the New York State Education Department Education Law Title VIII Article 130 Sub article 2 §6507 Administration by the Education Department Paragraph 3(a). This training is approved by NYS Office of Teaching Initiatives.
The training is 2 hours and the cost is $40.

21. Dignity Act Coordinator Training

The Dignity for All Students Act is a state law intended to create a learning environment free of bullying, harassment, and discrimination for ALL students. This is not an easy task. Implementation requires policies and procedures as well as intentional actions to create a safe and supportive school climate where all students know they are valued members of the school community. An integral component of successful implementation is a knowledgeable, empowered, and empathetic Dignity Act Coordinator. This session will provide information to Dignity Act Coordinators on the technical requirements of Dignity Act implementation as well as the adaptive skills essential for receiving and responding to incident reports. Misconceptions surrounding School Safety and the Educational Climate (SSEC) reporting will be addressed to ensure attendees are equipped to support questions around reporting. (Please note this is not the 6-hour course for teacher certification).

It was developed as a response to the ever-increasing violence in our schools. 26. DASA Certification Training

Individuals must complete the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) training workshop for educator certification in New York State. The training addresses harassment, bullying, and discrimination prevention and intervention in schools. The length of the training is at least six clock hours and the cost is $100.
The goals of this workshop are to:
Understand the intent components, and operational definitions of the Dignity Act
Develop sensitivity to the experience of specific student populations
Understand how school climate and culture have an impact on student achievement and behavior
Understand bullying, harassment and discrimination, including indicators, early warning signs, prevention and intervention and how to interact with families of victims and aggressors
Understand diversity and multi-cultural environments and examining your own biases.
This workshop meets the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) training requirement of the NYS Education Department for state certification.

27. Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training of Trainers for Schools (TCIS)

This five day, in-person, trauma-informed training will develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes of participants in the TCIS system to support a trauma-sensitive environment that is where students and staff are and feel safe. The TCIS system trains staff on how to recognize a student's aggressive behaviors as pain-based and how to respond to the student's needs while reducing the potential for adult counter-aggression.

As a result from attending this training, participants will be able to:
Participate, practice and receive feedback in utilizing de-escalation strategies to prevent potential crises
Build capacity of staff to manage aggressive and violent behaviors and avoid potential injuries
Create a learning culture where everyone learns from experience


Training techniques such as role plays, small group discussions, reflective exercises, conducting practice sessions, and using audiovisual aids will be demonstrated.

Participants will receive all the necessary materials to conduct the TCIS training program for their school district. TCIS trainers are required to attend and successfully complete a TCIS update refresher course every two years in North America, Bermuda, and Australia, and every year in OCFS agencies in New York State and in the United Kingdom and Ireland to maintain their certification status.
