Apply co-teaching practices to K-8 units of study for learners and students with and
without exceptionalities;
Acknowledge learner characteristics, but look beyond student labels to honor diversity
with individualized and culturally responsive teaching;
Establish and expand the collaborative partner relationships with common language
and common goals to achieve high outcomes for all students;
Vary co-teaching models and collaboration during planning, instruction, and assessment
stages; e.g., whole class, parallel, team-teaching, lead-assist, learning forums/stations,
consultation, multi-tier instruction, project-based learning;
Use data to establish baseline, advancing, and more challenging assignments;
Scaffold with appropriate low-high tech resources and accommodations to deliver the
specially designed instruction;
Focus on individual learner profiles to capitalize on student strengths and interests;
Increase student performance and self-efficacy with specific co-teaching feedback;
Establish parity with roles and responsibilities;
Be prepared with strategies and subject knowledge;
Apply the UDL framework across the disciplines with multiple curriculum representations,
engagements, and actions and expression for co-taught students;
Explore K-8 curriculum resources, technology options, and voice-choice assignments to
increase student attention and motivation;
Support each other as co-teachers, students, and families to achieve academic, social-
emotional, and behavioral expectations;
Monitor learner progress and use this data for reflective co-teaching decisions;
Communicate and collaborate as professionals with co-teachers, teacher assistants,
administration, students, and families;
Compile co-teaching resources for K-8 classroom GE and SE co-teachers, staff, and
students.
