This training will not only explore questions related to the principles of threat assessment such as behaviors, communication, and follow-up, but it will also focus on training the teams in the use of the evidence-based Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines tool established by Dr. Dewey Cornell and apply it to real world scenarios. Program: PPD

Audience: K-12 Educators

Dates: 10/14/2025

Andy Bankert has spent 47 years in teaching (37 full time, 10 years as a Substitute Teacher). Before cell phones, texting, email and social media students would communicate with their peers via note-passing. The presenter was quite adept at intercepting notes, especially in the 1980's when note passing was quite common. Despite the warnings that notes would be confiscated and not returned, students were still willing to risk it all! For some strange reason, the presenter held on to these notes for the last 40 years. This presenter has a compilation of 30 of the more humorous notes he collected and saved. The notes offer a unique insight into what early adolescents (10-19 yrs. old) think about on a daily basis. The students who wrote these notes are now in their 50's! Early adolescent brain development has not changed but have some been "rewired” due to technology and social media? This is one of the many questions this presentation will lead to. Come for a lesson in psychology and laughter!
