TCIS trainers from across the county will meet every other month to discuss best practices in implementation during training, refresher classes, and in real time. The team will collaborate to share ideas and network to connect and build supportive relationships to enhance practice.

19. State-level Life Science: Biology Cluster Writing Workshop

CiTi BOCES, in collaboration with the New York State Education Department, Office of State Assessment Science Team, invites you to apply for a unique, three-day, professional development opportunity focused on the process of state-level item writing. This is not a product-based workshop; its core purpose is to immerse participants in the authentic experience of developing assessment items using the same documents and protocol that are used at NYSED. Due to the nature of the work and to ensure a focused working environment, participants must be fully immersed in 3D instruction, using NYSSLS to guide both practice and assessment. Biology certification is preferred. All work produced, including any item clusters, may be considered for inclusion on future state examinations. Your contribution is a direct investment in the quality of New York State's science assessments. You will build connections with the Office of State Assessment, enabling you to gather feedback on post-workshop clusters and explore ways to support fellow educators in your BOCES or district. Lunch is provided for all participants.
Dignity for All Students Act (The Dignity Act or DASA) Workshop: Six hour training in Harassment, Bullying, Cyberbullying and Discrimination in Schools: Prevention and Intervention. New York State's Dignity Act seeks to provide the State's public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function. School professionals applying for certification or license on or after DECEMBER 31, 2013 are required to complete six clock hours of course work or training in this area. This training is designed to fulfill that requirement.

This is a two-part DASA workshop that must be completed in sequence, part one must be completed in order to attend part two.

Part One is a fully virtual, self-paced module consisting of approximately four hours of content, including videos, articles, reflection activities, and data analysis. Use the link below to get started with part 1.

Part Two is an in-person session designed to deepen participants' understanding through collaborative discussion and application. It also provides an opportunity to clarify and expand upon concepts introduced in Part One.

Tuition is $100.00 for employees of district which subscribe to the Oswego BOCES School Improvement Co-Ser. Tuition is $125.00 for all other attendees.

21. Foundations of Culture and Climate in the Creative Classrom

Program: Arts-In-Education

Audience: Art and Music Teachers

Join us for a hybrid professional learning experience designed to support educators in shaping positive classroom cultures and climates in collaboration with the CNY/OC Teacher Center. Through a blend of dialogues, podcasts, videos, readings, and interactive activities, participants will explore practical strategies to strengthen classroom systems, address behaviors, and enrich student engagement-without labeling it "social-emotional learning.” All participants will be added to a Google Classroom. This flexible program combines virtual sessions, asynchronous modules, and in-person connections, making it easy to fit meaningful professional growth into your schedule. A special highlight will be a virtual "In Conversation” with Dr. Scott Edgar, a national leader in the fine arts and student well-being, who will share insights and strategies tailored for arts educators. By the end of the year, participants will walk away with new tools, perspectives, and a supportive network to help create classrooms where students feel connected, inspired, and ready to learn.

Who should attend? Any World Language teacher that wants to collaborate, learn, and grow as an educator. Additionally, if you are a teacher leader, meeting materials and resources will be shared and can be used with your department and as turnkey opportunities.

This professional learning community is dedicated to deepening understanding and effective implementation of NYS Science Learning Standards across all grade levels. It fosters collaboration among teachers, administrators, special educators, and any interested stakeholders to ensure inclusive and high-quality science instruction. Through shared learning experiences, participants will explore best practices, align curriculum with standards, and support diverse student needs. The community emphasizes reflective dialogue, resource sharing, and continuous improvement in science education. 26. K-5 Literacy Leaders Community 2025 - 2026

Dive into the integration of Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs) and Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs) to create rich, three-dimensional learning opportunities for your students. Explore a variety of lesson models that support deeper engagement and understanding of science content. Through collaboration, discover practical strategies to meet grade band expectations and bring the vision of the NYSSLS to life in your classroom. Each day will systematically focus on two SEPs and two CCCs, providing practical tools and confidence to implement fully 3D lessons. Educators will first experience each lesson as a student, fostering a deeper, first-person understanding of the instructional shifts, followed by time to reflect and integrate learning into future lessons. We'll discuss practical ways TAs can support teachers and students by recognizing and reinforcing these practices during lessons, group work, and individual student interactions. Whether you're new to the SMPs or looking to deepen your understanding, this session will equip you with the tools to actively contribute to a rich mathematical learning environment.
