1. Comprehensive School Threat assessment Guidelines (CSTAG)

Program: Safety and Risk Management

Dates: 1/23/2025

CSTAG - This training is designed for school-based threat assessment teams to answer key questions on establishing threat assessment processes within your school, district and community. This training not only will explore questions related to the principles of threat assessment such as behaviors, communication, and follow up, it will also focus on training the teams in the use of the evidence based Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines Tool established by Dr. Dewey Cornell and apply it to real world scenarios.

2. Reunification

Program: Safety and Risk Management

Dates: 1/24/2025

Reunification - This training assists districts in developing robust reunification plans, for all reunification team members including an understanding of the process, binders and checklists for each role on the team, as well as site selection criteria. This plan meets the needs of all NYSED regulations. At the end of this program, districts will have developed an understanding of the reunification process from start to finish and be poised to run a drill.

3. The Writing Revolution Book Study

Program: School Improvement

Audience: teachers grades 3 - 12

Dates: 7/9/2025 to 9/30/2025

All teachers, grades 3 - 12, explore the world of Reading-Writing Relationships and Connections with this professional learning opportunity, featuring insights from the NYS Literacy Brief #3: The Role of Writing. These engaging sessions will leverage the text of Brief #3 and the acclaimed book, The Writing Revolution, to uncover high-impact practices and activities designed to enhance student writing skills. What to Expect: -In-depth Exploration: Understand the pivotal role of writing in literacy development. -High-Impact Practices: Discover effective strategies and activities to improve student writing. -Practical Techniques: Learn specific methods from The Writing Revolution that can be applied to any content area, empowering students to become confident writers. This will be a hybrid study, meeting in person for our first and last meeting and meeting via Zoom for 3 sessions in between. Participants must be in attendance for all sessions. The first meeting will be in the Leighton Elementary Library.

6. DASA (Dignity for all Students Act) Coordinator Training: Creating a Positive School Climate and Culture

Join us for an immersive 6-hour training course designed to empower Dignity Act Coordinators and Dignity Act Response Team Members with the knowledge and skills necessary to foster a safe and inclusive environment in New York State schools. This comprehensive training will delve into the ideals of the Dignity For All Students Act, equipping participants to effectively identify, investigate, and address incidents of bullying, harassment, discrimination, and cyberbullying.

No cost for employees of districts which subscribe to the Oswego BOCES School Improvement Co-Ser. Cost for all others is $125.00.

7. Instructional Practices that Increase Student Engagement & Accountability (Synergy ONLY)

This virtual workshop series focuses on high quality instructional practices that increase student engagement and student accountability. Session 1 reviews the importance of following a multi-tiered system of supports for high levels of learning. The participants will explore a lesson planning framework that ensures tiers of support with the goal for students to independently demonstrate their learning. Session 2 will continue to explore the lesson planning framework and apply it to classroom instruction. Both sessions will include collaborative discussions, sharing of practices, team planning time, self-reflection, and goal setting.

8. Ta-Ki-Do What? A beginning guide to understanding beat-function systems and classroom application

Let's face it, counting can be hard. We all know the students who struggle with counting and make up the rhythms once they hear it quickly. Research has shown that a beat-function counting system is important to the foundation of teaching a comprehensive counting system for students. This session will focus on the researched beat-function systems with emphasis on Eastman counting and TaKaDiMi and the process on how students learn rhythms from a sound-before-theory approach. Practical Application into classrooms and planning time will be included.

This training will review the DASA regulations and updates; review the role of the responsibilities of Dignity Act Coordinators; share an overview of complaint process flow charts; provide samples of DASA forms and investigation techniques; and provide an overview of best practices related to school-wide strategies for improved climate and culture.

This is a virtual training being held via Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to the email associated with your Frontline account the morning of the training.

There is no cost for employees of districts which subscribe to the Oswego County BOCES School Improvement Co-Ser. Tuition is $75.00 for all other attendees.

12. Transformative Educational Leaders Community

Our community will bring together educational leaders committed to fostering inclusive, emotionally intelligent, and culturally responsive learning environments. Our mission is to strengthen the social-emotional learning (SEL) capacities of both students and staff, while empowering leaders to navigate and facilitate challenging conversations with confidence and compassion. Through collaborative learning, reflective dialogue, and shared practice, members will: Deepen their understanding of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to better support the holistic well-being of students and staff. Develop skills to manage and mediate conflict-whether in one-on-one settings or larger group dynamics-through restorative practices and courageous conversations. Explore and apply the Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (CRSE) Framework from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to guide equitable and inclusive decision-making. Cultivate a positive school culture and climate that values diversity, promotes belonging, and supports continuous growth for all members of the school community. This community is a space for courageous leadership, mutual support, and transformative action. Together, we aim to lead with empathy, equity, and excellence.

13. Regional Enrichment Council

This is the Arts-in-Education regional enrichment council. This council serves as the purpose to provide districts with educators who are well versed in the AIE process for their buildings to build sustainable enrichment programs. 15. MTSS Practices Community

This MTSS Community is designed to bring teams together to learn, share, and grow in their work with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. Through collaborative sessions, participants will explore best practices, strengthen system-level implementation, and support one another in building structures that meet the needs of all learners. These gatherings will focus on connection, practical strategies, and shared problem-solving to help move MTSS efforts forward in meaningful and manageable ways.

16. TCIS Community of Practice

Audience: TCIS Cornell certified trainers from CiTi staff and component districts

TCIS trainers from across the county will meet every other month to discuss best practices in implementation during training, refresher classes, and in real time. The team will collaborate to share ideas and network to connect and build supportive relationships to enhance practice.

This community of educators will engage in professional dialogue around topics and issues intended to support the craft of coaching. Such topics as intentional trust and relationship building, growth producing feedback, communication skills, and mindful presence will be explored. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to bring issues and challenges to the table for exploration and support with colleagues.

18. Counselor, Social Worker & Mental Health Personnel Learning Community

Audience: Counselors, Social Workers, Mental Health Support Personnel

Dates: 9/22/2025 to 4/20/2026

The intention of this learning community is to provide a space for exploration of and collaboration around the unique needs and challenges of the role of Counselors, Social Workers and Mental Health support personnel. We will also consider the role of social emotional learning in this context. Other topics include the prioritization of work, communicating clearly the parameters of roles, supporting Tier One instruction, addressing attendance concerns, graduation pathways, transitions plans and more. Differentiation based on levels and needs will occur at each session while building a community of support for staff in these challenging roles. Cultivating a professional community is necessary to offer the support needed to fulfill this role.

The Fine Arts Community is an inclusive community for music and visual art educators, teaching artists, community partners, and anyone interested in leading or supporting enrichment areas across Oswego County and Central New York. Open to all who support the arts, this group focuses on building strong organizational structures, implementing the Individual Arts Assessment Pathway (IAAP), and expanding professional learning and curriculum development across the region. With an emphasis on PreK-12 conversations, we aim to strengthen fine arts programs through adaptable practices that respond to evolving student and district needs. Members will engage in collaborative planning, resource sharing, and community-building efforts through regular gatherings and partnership stops that build school arts programs and support local artists and organizations. From early childhood to high school, this group fosters a supportive network where educators and partners work together to enhance curriculum, instruction, and student experiences in the arts. This session will bridge the prior sessions and designing student support practices through a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework. Participants will reflect on the existing systems and teaming structures that are in place to manage the student support practices. This session will discuss:

• the role of universal screening to identify students with social-emotional skill lag and students with individualized social/emotional/behavioral or mental health needs.

This professional learning community is dedicated to deepening understanding and effective implementation of NYS Science Learning Standards across all grade levels. It fosters collaboration among teachers, administrators, special educators, and any interested stakeholders to ensure inclusive and high-quality science instruction. Through shared learning experiences, participants will explore best practices, align curriculum with standards, and support diverse student needs. The community emphasizes reflective dialogue, resource sharing, and continuous improvement in science education.
