National Board Certification Support Cohort

Location: B.O.C.E.S. Building 10 (West Nyack, NY)

Audience: National Board Candidates

Dates: 12/9/2019 to 3/16/2020

This 15-hour course will provide support to new and renewal National Board Certification candidates in the 2019-2020 school year. During our sessions, we will unpack the National Board Standards, the Five Core Propositions of the National Board, and work to facilitate the submission of the National Board Components. It will cover the Foundations of the National Board process, preparation for Component One (the exam), building Component 2 (Differentiation for Students), Component 3 (Creating a Fair and Equitable Environment -- the video component), and Component 4 (Identifying and Addressing a Student Need and A Professional Need). We will outline and teach how to approach the forms, written commentary and reflective pieces in each component. Feedback will be provided on written responses, and peer collaboration will be incorporated to engage the cohort in a rich environment of professional collegiality and pedagogical development. Participants must attend all sessions and complete the evaluation in MyLearningPlan to complete the course. A separate writing institute is recommended for candidates in the Spring.
