Regional Elementary Math Professional Learning Community 23 - Zoom

Location: Zoom (Zoom, Zo)

Dates: 1/31/2023 to 3/28/2023

The Elementary Math PLC is designed to connect elementary math educators and offer them a place to explore content and current trends in K-5 mathematics, discuss best practices, and celebrate success stories. Sessions will focus on the commonality of math instruction from grades K-5 with an emphasis on using visual models, common vocabulary, hands-on activities, and new technology to support learning. This collaborative effort will provide an avenue for rich math discussions and shared ideas. This Professional Learning Community is a growing community of learners led by Math Specialist Lynda Brennan and developed around Elementary Math and the Math Next Gen Standards. Ongoing professional learning and discussion are built into the PLC. It is not a repeat course.
Objective #1: At the conclusion of this course the participants will better be able to provide meaningful math experiences for K-5 students based on the new generation NYSED curriculum standards. Participants will actively engage students in the math curriculum by incorporating research-based instructional practices that enhance student understanding and outcomes.

Objective #2:The Elementary Math PLC seeks to provide a venue for math educators to collaborate, explore content, and discuss and reflect on instructional practices. Discussions offer participants new views on how to implement the curriculum in ways that positively impact all learners, improve instructional practices and build math rich cultures at the elementary level.
