1. Building Resilience in Children and Youth - Zoom

This interactive workshop discusses the impact of trauma and chaos on the wellbeing of children, as well as strategies to create a supportive environment fostering resilience. Participants will be introduced to a five-step emotion-coaching process to help students achieve their social and emotional learning goals, as well as the 8 Cs of Resilience. 

By the end of the session participants will be familiar with the five step emotion coaching process and the 8 c's of resilience. Participants will feel more confident discussing the impact of trauma on the wellbeing of students and know which local organizations are there to help. Local agencies will share resources after the presentation.

This training will be delivered by Zoom.

2. Let's Get Physical - Why Classroom Movement Matters - Zoom

Being physically active is about more than obesity prevention. It is also a vital building block for social and emotional wellness. Screen time and seated time have become more prevalent than ever in the classroom environment. We will explore why movement is vital for physical and mental health AND how it can help decrease behavioral problems, increase student learning capacity, and make your classroom a happier place. After the presentation local agencies will share resources.

By the end of this session participants will be able to list at least 5 benefits of incorporating more physical activity in their classrooms. Teachers will feel empowered to incorporate more movement into their classroom this school year and to use running-focused and classroom-based programs as helpful tools.

3. Nutrition and Your Brain - Zoom

Students who are well nourished are more prepared to engage in learning. Let's get students excited about eating well right from the start! Learn about opportunities and strategies to bring free, evidence-based nutrition education into your classroom. Food is fun! Hands-on, interactive nutrition workshops can be a great way to engage students and better prepare them for subjects such as math, reading, science, health, and more! 

By the end of this session, participants will have a better understanding of the connection between food and engaged students with improved academic performance. Participants will also learn how SNAP-Ed can work with their class/school/district and how to get in touch with the team.

4. School Wellness: Putting the Pieces Together - Zoom

This session is for enthusiasts wanting to start or enhance school wellness activities in their school. Leave knowing more about the free resources offered by several nationally recognized organizations and how their models can help you apply universal best practices. With guidance from an experienced school principal and two trainers in the field, move from theory to action that can lead to sustainable healthy school environments.  

By the end of the session participants will have the tools and resources needed to start or revive wellness in their school building or district. They will gain familiarity with at least 3 nationally recognized models and begin action planning using one of the models discussed.
