1. Membership from 9/1/19 through 8/31/20

Dates: 9/1/2019

Membership for one year ending August 31, 2020. Membership cannot be prorated. Dues are $45 for the year. HOWEVER, IF YOU SIGN UP BY SEPTEMBER 1, YOU CAN STILL PAY $40 FOR THE YEAR. You may sign up starting in August and your membership will be covered through August 31, 2020.

2. Gentle Yoga - 9-Class Fall Session

Location: Lucky Elephant Yoga Studio (New City, NY) [map]

Dates: 9/4/2019 to 12/11/2019

Gentle yoga is great for you if: you are new to yoga, are recovering from an injury, or you just want to take it slow today. The yoga postures will be presented in a slow, soothing way with attention to alignment, breathing and mindfulness. Props will be used to help the poses become more available to every body. The class will include asana (poses) and pranayama (breathing) techniques and will help you find a way to use your yoga practice to find peace and alignment in a busy world. Open to all levels, no prior yoga experience necessary. This class is taught by Bridget Peterson, an experienced yoga instructor at Lucky Elephant Yoga Studios, 132 Park Ave., New City. Wednesdays at 11:00 am on 9/4, 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 12/4 & 12/11. Fee is $113/123 nonmember . Once a minimum is met, single sessions will be available for $15 each.

3. Making Mrs. Maisel Marvelous Exhibit

Immerse yourself in the world of the Amazon Original Series with interactive sets, costumes, and screenings. Your journey starts with a visit to the TV studio for the Arthritis Telethon where Midge made her first television appearance. Costumes from the series are on display as you make your way to B. Altman's switchboard and Rose's Paris apartment. Head downstairs to take your picture at the Stage Deli and the Catskills hair salon. Then sit back in our Bennack Theater to enjoy your favorite season two episodes on the big screen. Thursday, September 5th at 1:00. Pailey Center for Media, 25 W. 52nd St., NYC. 4. New Member Reception

Location: Rockland Teachers' Center Institute - Stony Point (Stony Point, NY)

If you are a new member who joined us from September 2019 on, you are cordially invited to our reception at our office, 14 Liberty Square, Stony Point on Tuesday, September 10 from 10:00 to 12:00. You will learn how to navigate our online site, (mylearningplan), meet our club leaders and have a chance to ask questions and socialize with some seasoned members. Refreshments will be served. Some spots are available for all other members on a first come first served basis, so sign up ASAP. We look forward to seeing you then.

6. Theater Treasures at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

If you love theater, and you love art, then this tour, led by an expert in both theater and art history, is for you. See the Met Museum through a theatrical lens on this fascinating tour! You will learn about the links between theater and great works of art by Renoir, Degas, Picasso, and Seurat, to name a few. When you are through with the tour, your ticket gives you three-day access to all three Met Museums and a discount at the Met store. Tuesday, September 17th at 11:00 am. Fee of $45/55 nonmember covers entrance and guided tour. Please register by August 30th.

8. 8th Annual "Take a Bite out of Hunger" Fundraiser

Location: Haverstraw Town Hall (Garnerville, NY) [map]

This year we'll raise money for People to People as we take a bite out of hunger with our lunch menu prepared by you. The event will take place immediately after our meeting on Tuesday, September 24th. Our speaker will be Diane Serrtore, Executive Director of PtoP. A list of food will be available separately. Please bring service pieces if your dish requires them. If you are unable to attend, we would appreciate a donation. The program fee of $15 will be donated in its entirety to People to People to help support their mission of feeding the hungry in our community. It is imperative that you sign up by September 10th, since the amount of food needed will depend on the number of participants.

10. Lower East Side Art Walk

Join us as we visit several galleries with art critique Merrily. The Lower East Side is the city's fastest growing gallery neighborhood. Smaller spaces, a more experimental agenda and a lower price point define the hundred plus galleries on the Lower East Side. Known as an incubator for avant-garde talent, this is the place to be as more and more ambitious galleries move here. Thursday, October 3rd at 11:00. Fee is $40. Meeting place TBD. 11. Cole Porter & The Great American Songbook

Cole Porter joyfully pushed the envelope of musical theatre with ultra-sophisticated, often risque songs. Join us for a musical tour through his career, including classic songs like You're the Top, Night and Day, All Through the Night, and Begin the Beguine performed by Broadway stars Sally Wilfert and Michael Winther. Prior to the concert, Rob Kapilow will discuss the works and engage the audience in conversation. Sunday, October 6th at 2:00 pm. 16. Regina Carter in Concert at RCC

For Regina Carter, recipient of a MacArthur Genius Fellowship and Doris Duke Artist Award, the violin isn't simply a musical instrument, but a passport to a myriad of cultures and sounds. Dubbed "the finest jazz violinist of her generation" by The New York Times, she draws upon a wide range of musical influences, including Motown, Afro-Cuban, swing, bebop, folk and spirituals, and her repertoire ranges from "After a Dream" to "Chattanooga Choo Choo."
