This session explores the steps that need to be completed in SchoolTool each school year before July 1. In addition, you'll see how students get "grade advanced", which is part of the steps that must be taken before the new school year starts in September.
This culminating session will provide participants with the opportunity to synthesize their knowledge of the Science of Reading. There will be an emphasis on application of concepts discussed throughout the series to design system level changes. For example, we will provide tools for districts to evaluate their language arts curriculum and assessments. An examination of district assessment and intervention practices will also occur. Participants will be encouraged to set goals for the following school year with regards to implementation of Science of Reading-aligned instruction and intervention. We encourage school teams and/or individuals from multiple disciplines to attend including: administrators, school psychologists, reading teachers, classroom teachers, speech and language pathologists, special education teachers, and other school professionals.

21. Youth Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is an internationally recognized mental health awareness program that has been in use since 2001. Mental Health First Aid is listed in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's National Registry of Evidenced-based programs and practices. The training is eight hours in length and includes a three year national certification. Training is designed to:

• Increase participants' awareness of the signs and symptoms of mental illness.

• Decrease the negative stigma associated with mental illness.

• Empower participants to assist youth who may be struggling with mental illness or challenges.

• Allow participants to better understand the warning signs and risk factors of depression, anxiety, psychotic disorders, trauma, eating disorders, substance use disorders and suicide.

• Teach participants a five-step action plan to help an individual in or out of crisis connect to professional care.

26. Therapeutic Crisis Intervention 2 edition

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) is a trauma-informed crisis prevention and management system. The TCIS system helps staff create a learning environment that decreases risk factors while increasing protective factors so both students and staff can feel safe. TCIS provides staff an understanding of trauma sensitive practices and skills (co-regulation) to help students learn how to regulate and manage their own emotions. These newly learned skills encourage a greater willingness and capacity for our students to learn.

TCIS helps participants and schools to:

◉ Create a trauma-sensitive environment where students and adults are safe and feel safe within their roles as a staff member
◉ Pro-actively prevent and/or deescalate potential crisis situations with the students they work with
◉ Manage a crisis situation in a therapeutic manner, and, if necessary, intervene physically in a manner that reduces the risk of harm to students and staff
◉ Process the crisis event with students and each other to help improve their coping strategies to reduce future risk

This hybrid professional development offering supports special education teachers and service providers in planning specially designed instruction that aligns with NYSED's evolving expectations for Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and service documentation. Participants will complete asynchronous coursework in July focused on IDEA, LRE legal foundations, and interdisciplinary service planning to ensure equitable access to the general education curriculum across settings. The in-person session will provide time to unpack compliance scenarios, examine accommodations and modifications, and explore how related services and instructional teams can support inclusive practice. Participants will also identify ways to align LRE efforts with district-level MTSS frameworks and will leave with a personalized LRE toolkit and access to a curated digital resource library.

Through a partnership with Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES, the Center for Professional Development and Education Reform, provides leadership coaches to school leaders across Central and Western New York. Participants range from those new to their position to those with more than a decade of experience; those struggling to find their way and award-winning leaders. Coaches are available to anyone wishing to be better tomorrow than they are today. Our leadership coaches enter into confidential relationships with those they coach and help them to better serve their school community.

This registration is specifically meant for current School Superintendents. Coaching for other School Administrators is available through a separate registration link.

Format: Superintendents will attend 12 Coaching Sessions throughout the course of the school year.

Overview of the Series - Join Staff Development Trainers Erica, Kristin & Melissa for an engaging series on strengthening communication skills with families and guardians. Let's face it - it's easier to text or email but to build sustainable relationships, we need to make the call! Here's a breakdown for each virtual, 45 minute session

"Call Me, Maybe” with Erica - In this session participants will learn self-management strategies to regulate the nervous system and prepare to make the call as well as what to do when emotions (yours or theirs) get heightened. We'll also dive into the science behind the nervousness and have some fun while developing these necessary skills.

"Say This” with Kristin - In this session participants will be introduced to a few different possible scripts to use when calling guardians. We will review this proactive step to solidifying relationships with guardians, and will talk through various scenarios to prepare for. Participants will conclude with the opportunity to practice, and ask questions.

"SOS” with Melissa - In this session, participants will learn strategies that can be used when a conversation doesn't go the way you hoped. Join Melissa to explore restorative language that can be used when repairing harm is your next step.

32. Foundations of Psychological Safety | Creating Brave Spaces

In the research article "Feeling Safe at Work: Development and Validation of he Psychological Safety Inventory,” the authors write, "Psychological safety, defined as perceptions that an individual within a team is supported and feels safe to take interpersonal risks, voice opinions, and share ideas, is vital for organizational effectiveness.” Understanding this concept is a key to cultivating Brave Spaces and it is from these Brave Spaces that our culture can be strengthened. Join staff development trainer, Erica Ebert for an engaging and interactive online PD where we will explore: The four stages of safety and their impact on collaboration, compassion and culture throughout your District.

33. MTSS Development Series

A Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is a framework that if implemented effectively will ensure student (and staff) success. This two day virtual session is for new teams and is a broad overview of the work. Session #1 will focus on "The What and Why of MTSS" AND "Tier 1," and session #2 will focus on "Tier 2 and Small Group Interventions," AND "Tier 3 Targeted Supports and Next Steps. " Each session includes specific work time for each team.

34. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

MBSR is an 8-week evidence-based, experiential program designed to provide participants with intensive and systematic training in mindfulness meditation and movement practices, and integrating into one's daily life what is discovered and learned through the process of participating in the program. Mindfulness Based-Stress Reduction (MBSR) is based on ancient contemplative practices integrated with western medical approaches by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979. MBSR is an 8-week program of systematic training in mindfulness meditation employing both formal and informal practices. The experiential program harnesses inner resources and cultivates resilience. MBSR has been researched over 40 years and consistently delivers positive outcomes associated with increased self-awareness and emotional and attentional regulation. In addition, outcomes have included reductions in symptoms for various physical and behavioral health conditions such as anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, and hypertension.

In the research article "Feeling Safe at Work: Development and Validation of he Psychological Safety Inventory,” the authors write, "Psychological safety, defined as perceptions that an individual within a team is supported and feels safe to take interpersonal risks, voice opinions, and share ideas, is vital for organizational effectiveness.” Understanding this concept is a key to cultivating Brave Spaces and it is from these Brave Spaces that our culture can be strengthened. 48. Leadership Coaching for School Administrators - SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS ONLY

Through a partnership with Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES, the Center for Professional Development and Education Reform, provides leadership coaches to school leaders across Central and Western New York. Participants range from those new to their position to those with more than a decade of experience; those struggling to find their way and award-winning leaders. Coaches are available to anyone wishing to be better tomorrow than they are today. Our leadership coaches enter into confidential relationships with those they coach and help them to better serve their school community.

This registration is specifically meant for current School Administrators, that are not Superintendents. Coaching for Superintendents is available through a separate registration link.

Format: Administrators will attend 10 Coaching Sessions throughout the course of the school year.

49. Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

MBSR is an 8-week evidence-based, experiential program designed to provide participants with intensive and systematic training in mindfulness meditation and movement practices, and integrating into one's daily life what is discovered and learned through the process of participating in the program. Mindfulness Based-Stress Reduction (MBSR) is based on ancient contemplative practices integrated with western medical approaches by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979. MBSR is an 8-week program of systematic training in mindfulness meditation employing both formal and informal practices. The experiential program harnesses inner resources and cultivates resilience. MBSR has been researched over 40 years and consistently delivers positive outcomes associated with increased self-awareness and emotional and attentional regulation. In addition, outcomes have included reductions in symptoms for various physical and behavioral health conditions such as anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, and hypertension.

50. Better Together: Inclusive Co-Teaching Practices That Support Diverse Learners

This full-day interactive workshop empowers teaching partners to strengthen their co-teaching practices in inclusive, self-contained, and resource room settings. Participants will explore the six co-teaching models, clarify roles and responsibilities, and identify effective structures for co-planning, instruction, and classroom management. Through hands-on activities, video analysis, and collaborative lesson design, educators will deepen their understanding of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), IEP-aligned instruction, and equitable teaching practices. The session also addresses real-world challenges such as time management, enhancing communication dynamics, and ensuring instructional service delivery minutes are met with fidelity. Participants will leave with editable planning templates, coaching tools, and actionable strategies to build and sustain high-impact co-teaching partnerships that center the needs of all learners.

51. Foundations and Strategies: Empowering Paraprofessionals to Support Diverse Learners

Designed specifically for paraprofessionals on the Superintendent Conference Day, this half-day session builds foundational knowledge and confidence in their essential role as partners in supporting students with disabilities. Participants will explore IEP basics, disability classifications, and their responsibilities within the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) across education settings. The training also introduces key special education terminology, the role of related service providers, distinctions between accommodations and modifications, and proactive strategies to support behavior management and foster student independence. Emphasis will be placed on how paraprofessionals support instruction and interventions within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Through scenario-based learning and discussion, participants will leave with a clearer understanding of their role and practical tools they can use immediately to enhance student support.

52. Executive Functioning in a New Age: Developmentally Responsive Strategies for Today's Learners

Participants will explore how shifts in student development, learning environments, and lived experiences have reshaped the way learners plan, organize, regulate emotions, and solve problems. Through an interdisciplinary lens-including insights from OT, PT, and SLP-education professionals will examine strategies rooted in neuroscience, child development, and backward design. The session will also revisit traditional developmental benchmarks and introduce updated frameworks that reflect the diverse needs of learners today. Participants will leave with actionable tools, developmentally aligned instructional strategies, and a renewed lens for designing supports that reflect students' current readiness. The session emphasizes practical ways to promote independence, engagement, and growth across all tiers of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
