Dates to be determined Educating gifted students requires a unique set of strategies that go beyond the standard curriculum. Teachers in this field often focus on balancing high-level academic needs with the specific social-emotional challenges these students face. Here are some of the possible topics that may be discussed: Differentiation and Tiered Assignments: Strategies for modifying lessons to provide greater depth, complexity, and pace. This often includes "compacting" the curriculum to skip material students have already mastered. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Addressing issues common in high-ability learners, such as perfectionism, asynchronous development (where cognitive skills outpace emotional maturity), and heightened sensitivity or "overexcitabilities." Underachievement and Motivation: Investigating why some highly capable students may disengage or perform poorly, and finding ways to reconnect them with their interests through autonomy and inquiry-based learning. Twice-Exceptional (2e) Students: Identifying and supporting students who are gifted but also have a learning disability, such as ADHD, dyslexia, or autism spectrum disorder.
