1. Teach 2 Lead Professional Development Series

Monthly meeting of CSE/CPSE chairpersons from WSWHE component districts. This half day meeting provides critical updates for CSE/CPSE chairpersons from the BOCES and NYSED. A monthly newsletter with upcoming topics is sent to registrants prior to each meeting. This meeting is intended for chairpersons within the WSWHE BOCES supervisory region. 4. School Library System Council Meeting

One of four required meetings of the SLS Council. Council assists the SLS in its mission as outlined in Commissioner's Regulations 90.18 including creating and monitoring the Plan of Service, and recommending approval of the annual budget and the annual report. The LETRS® (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) Suite is professional learning that provides educators and administrators with deep knowledge to be literacy and language experts in the science of reading. Developed by renowned literacy experts Dr. Louisa Moats, Dr. Carol Tolman, and Dr. Lucy Hart Paulson, it is a flexible literacy professional learning solution for educators and administrators. LETRS teaches the skills needed to master the fundamentals of reading instruction-phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and language. This is a two year cohort model. The 2025-2026 SY includes units 1-4 and the 2026-2027 SY includes units 5-8.

9. Book Study- Building Thinking Classrooms

This virtual and asynchronous session is designed for K-12 teachers, instructional coaches, and leaders to facilitate skill development and a deep dive into the 14 practices of a thinking classroom. As a result of attending these sessions, participants will be able to: ~ implement Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces (VNPS) and Visible Random Grouping to increase student persistence ~ distinguish between "studenting" behaviors and authentic thinking ~ redesign classroom norms to prioritize mathematical inquiry This course consists of three virtual meetings from 2:30- 3:30 on 4/13/26, 4/27/26 and 5/11/26. Participants will also be asked to complete asynchronous reflections between sessions. Please note that books will NOT be provided, and participants must supply or acquire a copy of Building Thinking Classrooms, by Peter Liljedahl to participate.

11. Library Policies: Creating Equity through Action

It is good practice to examine the policies and procedures for collection development and challenged materials periodically. Join us for this four part series that will examine the process for policy making/adopting within the school, look at current policies, and give librarians time to develop policies that can be advocated for use within their schools. 12. DASA Certification Training

Individuals must complete the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) training workshop for educator certification in New York State. The training addresses harassment, bullying, and discrimination prevention and intervention in schools. The length of the training is at least six clock hours and the cost is $100.
The goals of this workshop are to:
Understand the intent components, and operational definitions of the Dignity Act
Develop sensitivity to the experience of specific student populations
Understand how school climate and culture have an impact on student achievement and behavior
Understand bullying, harassment and discrimination, including indicators, early warning signs, prevention and intervention and how to interact with families of victims and aggressors
Understand diversity and multi-cultural environments and examining your own biases.
This workshop meets the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) training requirement of the NYS Education Department for state certification.

13. NYSED Statewide: Performance-Based Learning and Assessment in Middle & High School

14. Asynchronous Session: Lead Evaluator of Principals-Annual Refresher

This refresher is designed for current lead evaluators of principals who are seeking to fulfill annual training requirements for updates and annual recertification/renewal as a Lead Evaluator of Principals in accordance with their district APPR plans. Activities are aligned to the nine required training components. This Annual REFRESHER session will only provide recertification as Lead Evaluator of Principals. Attendees who have never been initially certified as a Lead Evaluator of Principals in prior school years must attend the Initial Lead Evaluator of Teachers 3 Part Series if they have never been appointed as a Lead Evaluator of Teachers previously and then attend a 1 day Initial Lead Evaluator of Principals to fulfill district APPR requirements for Lead Evaluators of Principals. Attendees who have been previously certified as Lead Evaluator of Teachers in prior roles only need to have completed the 1 day Initial for Lead Evaluators of Principals. SEL strategies help to cultivate positive school cultures within classrooms and throughout the entire school community. As a result from participating in this session, you will learn how to create equitable environments and academic excellence for all students, understand what transformative SEL is, how to view SEL through a cultural lens and how teachers can help students develop their Identity, Agency & Sense of Belonging as part of transformative SEL experiences.

17. On The Farm STEM

This immersive in-person session is designed for K-12 educators to bring teachers directly onto working beef and dairy farms to explore real-world applications of engineering, biology, environmental science, and technology helping to break down traditional silos in agricultural education. Participants will explore topics including soil health, beef lifecycle, precision technology, genetics, nutrition, and animal care. Participants will leave with ready-to-use classroom connections rooted in authentic agricultural STEM. This event is facilitated by WSWHE BOCES and sponsored by the NY Beef Council and The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture.

18. SLS Mentor Program Workshop

19. Morphology Plus

This five day professional development cohort will meet once a week for five weeks by alternating between in-person and live virtual sessions that will run from 8a.m.-3:30p.m.
This session is designed for teacher who teach third grade through fifth grade and any grade whose students require intervention in fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. This interactive half-day workshop introduces educators to the core ideas from Building Thinking Classrooms by Peter Liljedahl, with a focus on practical strategies that can be applied across all grade levels and subject areas. 22. Continuing the Conversation Around Student Engagement and BTC Best Practices: BTC Toolkit 2 Recommended Prerequisite: BTC Toolkit 1

This half-day workshop is designed for educators who are ready to deepen their implementation of thinking-focused instruction by exploring Toolkit 2 strategies from Building Thinking Classrooms by Peter Liljedahl. Participants will examine practical classroom moves that help mobilize the knowledge in the classroom, promote student note-taking, and consolidate student understanding of the learning goals. This session will balance learning and application by starting with key Toolkit 2 strategies and breaking down classroom examples. Participants will then have the opportunity for structured planning time to adapt these practices to their own curriculum and students. Built-in peer collaboration will enable participants to share ideas, build ready-to-use thinking tasks, and refine plans, allowing for concrete next steps for implementation.

23. TCIS Refresher (Updated Link)

This two day, in-person session serves as a refresher course to the full, five day, TCIS initial curriculum training. As a result of attending this training, participants will develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the TCIS curriculum. Participants will have the chance to participate, practice, and receive feedback in conducting activities to gain immediate training experience. Training techniques such as role plays, small group discussions, reflective exercises, conducting practice sessions, and using audiovisual aids will be demonstrated. The curriculum is evidence-informed and trauma-sensitive. Participants will receive all the necessary materials to conduct the TCIS training program for their school district. Updates are for the certified TCI trainers and the refreshers are used in direct training for the staff. Therefore, certified TCI trainers needing to renew their certification will need to sign up for a TCI update. TCIS trainers are required to attend and successfully complete a TCIS update every two years in North America, Bermuda, and Australia, and every year in OCFS agencies in New York State and in the United Kingdom and Ireland to maintain their certification status.

24. SLS Communication Coordinator Meeting

This in-person workshop will feature presentations by school librarians in the region. Topics include Copyright, Reading Engagement Tools, AI Literacy Concepts, and much more! Registration will close May 5th. One of at least four meetings for SLS Communication Coordinators as mandated by NY State Education Law 90.18. Communication coordinators are updated on topics relevant to the profession such as changes in curriculum, technology, and the Information Fluency Continuum. Professional Development is provided on current issues. Information is disseminated to district librarians after each meeting. All school librarians are welcome.

25. NYS Mandated Harassment Prevention Training

This workshop is intended for all school employees, and will address harassment, bullying, and discrimination including, but not limited to, those acts based on a person's actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender, the status of being transgender, or sex. It will also cover the identification and mitigation of harassment, bullying, and discrimination. Due to regulatory compliance, the BOCES will make contact with districts, when necessary, to obtain the Harassment Policy specific to each district to ensure compliance. Participants should seek the permission of their superintendent to attend this training. Permission is required to attend. The registrant will be sent a link to participate in this session through a virtual platform 24 hours prior to the session date.

26. Strategic Prioritization: Using the SLS Member Plan to Lead in the School Library - IN PERSON (REPEAT)

This in-person session is designed for PreK-12 School Librarians in order to strengthen school library programs across the WSWHE BOCES region. Participants will be able to successfully complete the NYSED required SLS Member Plan, prioritize goals based on data from the NYSED approved SLP Rubric, and facilitate conversations with administrators about library program goals, in order to submit their member plan to SLS. This series is designed to assist school librarians with aligning their programs with the district and building goals and creating the best possible program for their students.

30. MTSS-I Regional Cohort Meeting: SEL Interventions

This half day, in-person session, serves as a follow-up to our cohort meeting focused on building our behavior intervention bank. Designed to continue the collaborative work, this session brings educators together to create a bank of social-emotional learning interventions to utilize within their school building or district. Participants will engage in hands-on activities to analyze and utilize their MTSS data sets, informing decision making and strengthening support systems. As a result, participants will create and develop SEL interventions alongside colleagues to gain new ideas to support all learners. Additionally, school/district teams will have the opportunity to hear from a guest presenter, Dr. Sheldon Berman, who is the Interim CEO of the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL).

31. Child Abuse Training

Audience: Those seeking Certification

Dates: 6/1/2026

This online course will teach participants to report any suspected child abuse or maltreatment. In New York State, specific professionals are "mandated" by law to report cases of suspected child abuse and maltreatment. Participants will fulfill requirements mandated in the New York State Education Department Education Law Title VIII Article 130 Sub article 2 §6507 Administration by the Education Department Paragraph 3(a). This training is approved by NYS Office of Teaching Initiatives.
The training is 2 hours and the cost is $40.

32. School Violence Certification Training

Project S.A.V.E. is a two-hour course that is required for certification of professionals who work in the schools in New York State. It was developed as a response to the ever-increasing violence in our schools. This workshop will provide school personnel with awareness of violence prevention and intervention skills and techniques that they can use.

34. TLC Library Automation User Group

The TLC User Group is a collaborative, virtual forum for users of the TLC (The Library Corporation) system. This group provides a platform for members to deepen their understanding of the system, share best practices, and contribute to its ongoing improvement. Meetings are held every other month for WSWHE BOCES Library Automation members to assist with ongoing learning about new features, troubleshoot challenges, and discuss potential enhancements. The goal of the group is to empower users to leverage the TLC system more efficiently and to foster a community of knowledgeable and engaged users.

This asynchronous session is designed for K-12 educators in order to introduce and develop new skills on the use of the SLS provided resource Sooth.fyi. At the completion of this session, participants will be able to personalize their Sooth.fyi experience, search effectively, and create a collection of research, citations, and lesson plans for use with their students.

Important Note: Access to course materials will close on the designated end date. All required activities must be completed prior to the course end date in order to receive attendance and completion credit.

36. NYS Mandated Harassment Prevention Training

Program: School Development Services

Audience: School District Staff

Dates: 6/25/2026

This workshop is intended for all school employees, and will address harassment, bullying, and discrimination including, but not limited to, those acts based on a person's actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender, the status of being transgender, or sex. It will also cover the identification and mitigation of harassment, bullying, and discrimination. Due to regulatory compliance, the BOCES will make contact with districts, when necessary, to obtain the Harassment Policy specific to each district to ensure compliance. Participants should seek the permission of their superintendent to attend this training. Permission is required to attend. The registrant will be sent a link to participate in this session through a virtual platform 24 hours prior to the session date.

37. Building Thinking Classrooms, presented by Peter Liljedahl

This is an in-person workshop designed for teachers and leaders in grades K-12. Participants will experience some of the results of over 15 years of research into how teachers can transform their classrooms from a space where students mimic to a space where students think. The practices discussed will intertwine with, and make extensive references to, the best-selling books, Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics (Grades K-12): 14 Teaching Practices for Enhancing Learning and Tasks for the Thinking Classroom (K-5 and 6-12). Peter Liljedahl is a former math teacher and current professor of Mathematics Education known for his significant contributions to the field of mathematics education, particularly in the development of "Building Thinking Classrooms." With a passion for fostering deep mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills, Peter has dedicated his career to reshaping classroom environments. His work emphasizes collaborative learning, problem-solving, and student engagement, leading to more effective and meaningful mathematics education experiences. Through his innovative teaching methods and research, Peter continues to inspire educators worldwide to create dynamic and thought-provoking learning spaces. Please be advised that all cancellations require a 30-day written notice. 38. Safety-Care Initial Crisis Prevention Train the Trainer Session

This three day, in-person, Safety Care Initial Crisis Prevention Train the Trainer Session is designed for K-12 educators and provides evidence-based training to equip faculty with skills and creativity to increase their effectiveness in responding to challenging behaviors. As a result from attending this session, participants will be a certified Trainer and be equipped to teach Safety-Care® to their staff using the proven tools and techniques. By implementing Safety-Care practices consistently, it is likely to result in a more positive reinforcement-based approach, the development of new skills, and fewer restraints.
For any participant that cancels within 30 days of this training will still be responsible for paying 20% of the cost of this training.

By implementing Safety-Care practices consistently, it is likely to result in a more positive reinforcement-based approach, the development of new skills, and fewer restraints.
