1. Curriculum and Assessment Council (CAC) 25/26

Audience: Leadership of the 31 Component Districts in the WSWHE Region

This series of meetings is designed for Leaders of the 31 Component Districts in the WSWHE Region. The sessions will provide training and support with topics linked directly to curriculum, instruction, assessment and technology. Participants will be added to the regional listserv to ensure materials are shared.

2. 2025-2026 CSE/CPSE Chairpersons' Monthly Meetings

Audience: CSE/CPSE Chairpersons

Dates: 9/25/2025 to 5/21/2026

Monthly meeting of CSE/CPSE chairpersons from WSWHE component districts. This half day meeting provides critical updates for CSE/CPSE chairpersons from the BOCES and NYSED. Opportunities are also provided for collaboration, problem solving, regional planning and professional learning. A monthly newsletter with upcoming topics is sent to registrants prior to each meeting. This meeting is intended for chairpersons within the WSWHE BOCES supervisory region. Requests for districts outside the WSWHE region should be sent to Kelly Sheppard, Director for Exceptional Learners at ksheppard@wswheboces.org

3. School Library System Council Meeting

Program: School Library Services

Audience: SLS Council Members

Dates: 9/30/2025 to 6/1/2026

One of four required meetings of the SLS Council. Council assists the SLS in its mission as outlined in Commissioner's Regulations 90.18 including creating and monitoring the Plan of Service, and recommending approval of the annual budget and the annual report. Updates are also provided to Council members at each meeting.

5. TLC Toolkit: Taking a Deeper Dive (asynchronous)

Audience: WSWHE area librarians and library staff who use TLC for their daily automation system

Dates: 4/17/2026 to 5/29/2026

Ready to take a deeper dive into TLC and all it can do for you? This asynchronous, interactive session will navigate all modules of the TLC platform. Work at your own pace to learn more about the ins and outs of TLC, streamline quick hacks, and unlock knowledge to tap into areas you haven't discovered yet, like Inventory. Complete course at your own pace by the end date to receive credit.

6. Asynchronous Session: Lead Evaluator of Principals-Annual Refresher

Program: Teacher & Leader Development Service

Audience: District Administrators that are Lead Evaluators of Principals

Dates: 5/1/2026

This refresher is designed for current lead evaluators of principals who are seeking to fulfill annual training requirements for updates and annual recertification/renewal as a Lead Evaluator of Principals in accordance with their district APPR plans. Activities are aligned to the nine required training components. This Annual REFRESHER session will only provide recertification as Lead Evaluator of Principals. Attendees who have never been initially certified as a Lead Evaluator of Principals in prior school years must attend the Initial Lead Evaluator of Teachers 3 Part Series if they have never been appointed as a Lead Evaluator of Teachers previously and then attend a 1 day Initial Lead Evaluator of Principals to fulfill district APPR requirements for Lead Evaluators of Principals. Attendees who have been previously certified as Lead Evaluator of Teachers in prior roles only need to have completed the 1 day Initial for Lead Evaluators of Principals. 7. Lead Evaluator of Teachers-Annual Refresher- Self- Paced Course (Asynchronous)

Audience: K-12 District and School Administrators with Evaluation Responsiblities

This refresher course is designed for current lead evaluators of teachers who are seeking to fulfill annual training requirements for updates and annual recertification/renewal as a Lead Evaluator of Teachers in accordance with their district APPR plans. Activities are aligned to the nine required training components. This Annual REFRESHER Session will only provide recertification as Lead Evaluator of Teachers. 12. Child Abuse Training

This online course will teach participants to report any suspected child abuse or maltreatment. In New York State, specific professionals are "mandated" by law to report cases of suspected child abuse and maltreatment. Participants will fulfill requirements mandated in the New York State Education Department Education Law Title VIII Article 130 Sub article 2 §6507 Administration by the Education Department Paragraph 3(a). This training is approved by NYS Office of Teaching Initiatives.
The training is 2 hours and the cost is $40.

13. School Violence Certification Training

Project S.A.V.E. is a two-hour course that is required for certification of professionals who work in the schools in New York State. It was developed as a response to the ever-increasing violence in our schools. This workshop will provide school personnel with awareness of violence prevention and intervention skills and techniques that they can use.
The training is 2 hours and the cost is $40.

14. TLC Library Automation User Group

Audience: WSWHE BOCES districts participating in the library automation coser

The TLC User Group is a collaborative, virtual forum for users of the TLC (The Library Corporation) system. This group provides a platform for members to deepen their understanding of the system, share best practices, and contribute to its ongoing improvement. Meetings are held every other month for WSWHE BOCES Library Automation members to assist with ongoing learning about new features, troubleshoot challenges, and discuss potential enhancements. The goal of the group is to empower users to leverage the TLC system more efficiently and to foster a community of knowledgeable and engaged users.

15. Introduction to Sooth.fyi (SPRING)

This asynchronous session is designed for K-12 educators in order to introduce and develop new skills on the use of the SLS provided resource Sooth.fyi. At the completion of this session, participants will be able to personalize their Sooth.fyi experience, search effectively, and create a collection of research, citations, and lesson plans for use with their students.

Important Note: Access to course materials will close on the designated end date. All required activities must be completed prior to the course end date in order to receive attendance and completion credit.

16. NYS Mandated Harassment Prevention Training

Program: School Development Services

Audience: School District Staff

Dates: 6/25/2026

This workshop is intended for all school employees, and will address harassment, bullying, and discrimination including, but not limited to, those acts based on a person's actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender, the status of being transgender, or sex. It will also cover the identification and mitigation of harassment, bullying, and discrimination. Due to regulatory compliance, the BOCES will make contact with districts, when necessary, to obtain the Harassment Policy specific to each district to ensure compliance. Participants should seek the permission of their superintendent to attend this training. Permission is required to attend. The registrant will be sent a link to participate in this session through a virtual platform 24 hours prior to the session date.

17. Building Thinking Classrooms, presented by Peter Liljedahl

Audience: Teachers and Educational Leaders of BOCES Component districts

This is an in-person workshop designed for teachers and leaders in grades K-12. Participants will experience some of the results of over 15 years of research into how teachers can transform their classrooms from a space where students mimic to a space where students think. The practices discussed will intertwine with, and make extensive references to, the best-selling books, Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics (Grades K-12): 14 Teaching Practices for Enhancing Learning and Tasks for the Thinking Classroom (K-5 and 6-12). Peter Liljedahl is a former math teacher and current professor of Mathematics Education known for his significant contributions to the field of mathematics education, particularly in the development of "Building Thinking Classrooms." With a passion for fostering deep mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills, Peter has dedicated his career to reshaping classroom environments. His work emphasizes collaborative learning, problem-solving, and student engagement, leading to more effective and meaningful mathematics education experiences. Through his innovative teaching methods and research, Peter continues to inspire educators worldwide to create dynamic and thought-provoking learning spaces. Please be advised that all cancellations require a 30-day written notice. Once a registration spot is confirmed and allocated to a district or participant, the district assumes full financial responsibility for the cost of the seat, regardless of subsequent attendance. *Lunch will be included in this session. We need a minimum of 50 participants for this session to run.

This workshop explores practical literacy strategies grounded in the Science of Reading and aligned with New York State literacy briefs. Participants will build an understanding of how disciplinary literacy supports student comprehension across subject areas, with a particular focus on content-specific vocabulary, morphology, and language structures. We will share strategies and tools to strengthen reading comprehension and academic language development in their content areas.

19. Safety-Care Initial Crisis Prevention Train the Trainer Session

This three day, in-person, Safety Care Initial Crisis Prevention Train the Trainer Session is designed for K-12 educators and provides evidence-based training to equip faculty with skills and creativity to increase their effectiveness in responding to challenging behaviors. As a result from attending this session, participants will be a certified Trainer and be equipped to teach Safety-Care® to their staff using the proven tools and techniques. By implementing Safety-Care practices consistently, it is likely to result in a more positive reinforcement-based approach, the development of new skills, and fewer restraints.
For any participant that cancels within 30 days of this training will still be responsible for paying 20% of the cost of this training.

This training is intended to refresh knowledge for Dignity Act Coordinators, Designees and other school team members who are in need of training related to the Dignity for All Student Act. This training will heighten participants' sensitivity to students who are adversely impacted by harassment, bullying and discrimination and immerse them in being agents in proactively creating safe and supportive school environments for all students. Participants will be provided with information on understanding, identifying and reporting incidents; and experiential approaches to addressing human relations concepts including, but not limited to, the eleven protected classes.

This one day, in-person, Safety Care Recertification session is designed for K-12 educators and staff members who previously completed the 3-day Initial Safety-Care Trainer Training program. As a result from attending this session, participants will refresh their knowledge and understanding of strategies to prevent and manage behavioral challenges while also effectively teaching replacement behaviors. By implementing Safety-Care practices consistently, it is likely to result in a more positive reinforcement-based approach, the development of new skills, and fewer restraints.

In this in-person session for school librarians, we will hear from elementary librarian Stacey Rattner and high school librarian Alicia Abdul, who will spotlight book titles for students at all levels. Combining their love of literature with practical discussions on reading in and out of school, participants will also leave with a booklist in addition to ideas for activities and events.
