1. The Writing Revolution Book Study

Audience: teachers grades 3 - 12

All teachers, grades 3 - 12, explore the world of Reading-Writing Relationships and Connections with this professional learning opportunity, featuring insights from the NYS Literacy Brief #3: The Role of Writing. These engaging sessions will leverage the text of Brief #3 and the acclaimed book, The Writing Revolution, to uncover high-impact practices and activities designed to enhance student writing skills. What to Expect: -In-depth Exploration: Understand the pivotal role of writing in literacy development. -High-Impact Practices: Discover effective strategies and activities to improve student writing. -Practical Techniques: Learn specific methods from The Writing Revolution that can be applied to any content area, empowering students to become confident writers. This will be a hybrid study, meeting in person for our first and last meeting and meeting via Zoom for 3 sessions in between. Participants must be in attendance for all sessions. The first meeting will be in the Leighton Elementary Library.

This MTSS Community is designed to bring teams together to learn, share, and grow in their work with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. Through collaborative sessions, participants will explore best practices, strengthen system-level implementation, and support one another in building structures that meet the needs of all learners. These gatherings will focus on connection, practical strategies, and shared problem-solving to help move MTSS efforts forward in meaningful and manageable ways.

5. TCIS Community of Practice

Audience: TCIS Cornell certified trainers from CiTi staff and component districts

This community of educators will engage in professional dialogue around topics and issues intended to support the craft of coaching. Such topics as intentional trust and relationship building, growth producing feedback, communication skills, and mindful presence will be explored. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to bring issues and challenges to the table for exploration and support with colleagues.

7. Counselor, Social Worker & Mental Health Personnel Learning Community

Audience: Counselors, Social Workers, Mental Health Support Personnel

The intention of this learning community is to provide a space for exploration of and collaboration around the unique needs and challenges of the role of Counselors, Social Workers and Mental Health support personnel. We will also consider the role of social emotional learning in this context. Other topics include the prioritization of work, communicating clearly the parameters of roles, supporting Tier One instruction, addressing attendance concerns, graduation pathways, transitions plans and more. Differentiation based on levels and needs will occur at each session while building a community of support for staff in these challenging roles. Cultivating a professional community is necessary to offer the support needed to fulfill this role.

The Fine Arts Community is an inclusive community for music and visual art educators, teaching artists, community partners, and anyone interested in leading or supporting enrichment areas across Oswego County and Central New York. Open to all who support the arts, this group focuses on building strong organizational structures, implementing the Individual Arts Assessment Pathway (IAAP), and expanding professional learning and curriculum development across the region. With an emphasis on PreK-12 conversations, we aim to strengthen fine arts programs through adaptable practices that respond to evolving student and district needs. Members will engage in collaborative planning, resource sharing, and community-building efforts through regular gatherings and partnership stops that build school arts programs and support local artists and organizations. 27. State-level Life Science: Biology Cluster Writing Workshop

CiTi BOCES, in collaboration with the New York State Education Department, Office of State Assessment Science Team, invites you to apply for a unique, three-day, professional development opportunity focused on the process of state-level item writing. This is not a product-based workshop; its core purpose is to immerse participants in the authentic experience of developing assessment items using the same documents and protocol that are used at NYSED. Due to the nature of the work and to ensure a focused working environment, participants must be fully immersed in 3D instruction, using NYSSLS to guide both practice and assessment. Biology certification is preferred. All work produced, including any item clusters, may be considered for inclusion on future state examinations. Your contribution is a direct investment in the quality of New York State's science assessments. You will build connections with the Office of State Assessment, enabling you to gather feedback on post-workshop clusters and explore ways to support fellow educators in your BOCES or district. Lunch is provided for all participants.
Dignity for All Students Act (The Dignity Act or DASA) Workshop: Six hour training in Harassment, Bullying, Cyberbullying and Discrimination in Schools: Prevention and Intervention. New York State's Dignity Act seeks to provide the State's public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function. School professionals applying for certification or license on or after DECEMBER 31, 2013 are required to complete six clock hours of course work or training in this area. This training is designed to fulfill that requirement.

This is a two-part DASA workshop that must be completed in sequence, part one must be completed in order to attend part two.

Part One is a fully virtual, self-paced module consisting of approximately four hours of content, including videos, articles, reflection activities, and data analysis. Use the link below to get started with part 1.

Part Two is an in-person session designed to deepen participants' understanding through collaborative discussion and application. It also provides an opportunity to clarify and expand upon concepts introduced in Part One.

Tuition is $100.00 for employees of district which subscribe to the Oswego BOCES School Improvement Co-Ser. Tuition is $125.00 for all other attendees.

Who should attend? Any World Language teacher that wants to collaborate, learn, and grow as an educator. Additionally, if you are a teacher leader, meeting materials and resources will be shared and can be used with your department and as turnkey opportunities.

32. Science Learning Community (K-12) (4 meetings + Snow Date)

This professional learning community is dedicated to deepening understanding and effective implementation of NYS Science Learning Standards across all grade levels. It fosters collaboration among teachers, administrators, special educators, and any interested stakeholders to ensure inclusive and high-quality science instruction. Through shared learning experiences, participants will explore best practices, align curriculum with standards, and support diverse student needs. The community emphasizes reflective dialogue, resource sharing, and continuous improvement in science education. All are welcome to join and contribute to a culture of collective growth and innovation. (1/29/26 is a snow date for 1/15/26. There will be a total of four meetings.)

New York State's Dignity Act seeks to provide the State's public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function. School professionals applying for certification or license on or after DECEMBER 31, 2013 are required to complete six clock hours of course work or training in this area. New York State's Dignity Act seeks to provide the State's public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function. School professionals applying for certification or license on or after DECEMBER 31, 2013 are required to complete six clock hours of course work or training in this area. This training is designed to fulfill that requirement.

This is a two-part DASA workshop that must be completed in sequence, part one must be completed in order to attend part two.

Part One is a fully virtual, self-paced module consisting of approximately four hours of content, including videos, articles, reflection activities, and data analysis. Use the link below to get started with part 1.

Part Two is an in-person session designed to deepen participants' understanding through collaborative discussion and application. It also provides an opportunity to clarify and expand upon concepts introduced in Part One.

Tuition is $100.00 for employees of district which subscribe to the Oswego BOCES School Improvement Co-Ser. Tuition is $125.00 for all other attendees.
