Program: Training Consultation and Professional Development
Audience: Teachers participating in NEIU Induction program
Dates: 8/17/2023
New YEAR ONE
In-Person, Kick-off Session (required):
Thursday, August 17, 2023 or Wednesday, October 25, 2023 (CHOOSE ONE DATE)
Inductees are required to attend one, in-person, kick-off session. Session will include the following topics: trauma-informed practices, how to use data to drive induction, Act 13: Educator Effectiveness, how to develop a professional network, professional ethics, effective parent communication, and social emotional learning/self care for educators.
One-Hour Virtual Workshops:
Dates/Times are to be determined
Inductees are required to attend monthly, one-hour virtual workshops (November through May). Sessions will include the following topics: behavior management, strategies for working with diverse learners and cultural awareness, special education/implementing the IEP, English Language Learners, technology integration, formative assessment strategies, and educator wellness. It is required that mentors meet with inductees following each one-hour virtual workshop and complete the "Mentor/Inductee- Summary of Learning”. It is requested that mentors meet with the NEIU Induction Team for two, one-hour virtual check-in sessions (September and January).
YEAR TWO
In-Person, Kick-off Session (required):
Dates/Times are to be determined
Inductees are required to attend one, in-person, kick-off session. Sessions will include the following topics: Year 1 reflection and goal setting, culturally relevant and sustaining education, positive behavior systems, family and community engagement, differentiated instruction, and an overview of NEIU programming and networking. Inductees are required to participate in six or more hours of NEIU Networking sessions with mentors, if possible, to collaborate with job-alike groups.
