1. COHORT: LITERACY AND DYSLEXIA

The Dyslexia and Literacy Cohort is designed for classroom teachers and anyone who provides instruction in Literacy or Dyslexia support. This special May, in person meeting will focus on the new dyslexia book, Teaching Beyond the Diagnosis: Empowering Students with Dyslexia by Casey Harrison. Join us for a dynamic, shared discussion of a book that will add to your understanding and service for students with dyslexia!

2. WORKFORCE LITERACY WORKSHOPS

3. COHORT: MATHEMATICS LEADERSHIP

Program: BCHF Professional Learning Opportunities Catalog

Audience: Mathematics leaders including but not limited to principals, academic coaches, grade team leaders, and master teachers.

Dates: 10/16/2024 to 5/6/2025

This program is designed for mathematics leaders at every level (e.g., principals, academic coaches, grade team leaders, and master teachers). The program aims to assess the impact of leaders on improving student learning by examining their current mathematics situation in terms of instruction, structure, and culture. Participants will become familiar with the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM) framework for leadership in Mathematics Education. You will be guided through developing a mathematics program improvement plan (MPIP) through assigned learning activities and deliverables designed to support progress through various stages of the MPIP. Participants are expected to attend meetings fully prepared to contribute to group learning. The primary resource for this year will be NCSM Essential Actions: Instructional Leadership in Mathematics Education. Session topics are: 1. Preparing Your Program (instructional focus); 2. Planting Seeds of Security (structural focus); 3. Cultivating a Healthy Mathematics Garden (cultural focus); and 4. Celebrating Improvement (sustainability focus).

4. ASYNCHRONOUS: PBL for the New Year

Audience: Teachers; STEM coordinators

What's all this PBL stuff really about? Is it possible in my classroom? Can Kindergartners do this?How about high schoolers/. This ASYNCHRONOUS session will guide educators through planning their first Project Based Learning project for the 2025-26 school year. Teachers will have 6 weeks to watch guidance videos, plan, interact with a PBL trainer, find out about managing a project. You will have one full project planned and ready to go for the new school year! On May 8th, all materials will be emailed to registered participants. The project will culminate on or before July 31st.

7. 2025 BCHF LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

The annual leadership summit, this year on June 9 and 10, is BCHF's premier professional development event! This year's Summit theme will be: ASPIRE HIGHER: RAISING THE BAR FOR STUDENTS, STAFF, AND SELF. The theme will explore how leaders may launch students, staff, and self into a universe of possibilities. It is our hope that, as a result of the Summit experience, leaders will embody high expectations, foster a joy of learning, and reclaim the belief that all students can reach the stars. Schools will also get a "jumpstart" on important actions for starting the 2025-26 school year. Please join us - it is our hope that all school leaders and leader team representatives can attend!

8. BCHF SCHOOL LEADER ORIENTATION

Are you and your school school new to the BCHF portfolio of schools? Have you just been promoted to a school leadership position? Are you brand new to a school leadership role? Or, are you a leader within our portfolio of schools who wishes to refresh some information? If so, this meeting applies to you and to members of your management/leadership team! Our annual orientation covers the basics about Buckeye Community Foundation, our role in support of your schools, and some of our key operations. We also cover school funding basics for leaders, compliance monitoring, school improvement supports, and school discipline. Former participants tell us that this was the most relevant training of the year for leaders. Join us "in person" at our Columbus training room for an information-packed day! A light lunch will be provided.
