Discover the possibilities of combining Computer Science and 3D printing in Makerspaces! Join us for an interactive session focused on 3D Printing, where you will engage in a series of hands-on exercises designed to teach you how to create 3D designs. Learn how to use easy-to-use coding software to create functional items, explore the materials commonly used in schools, and master the working and calibration of a 3D Printer to ensure successful prints. You will also learn how to slice objects into G-code that the printer can comprehend. This workshop will equip you with the knowledge and resources to integrate computer science standards into 3D printing best practices, enabling you to guide your students in 3D designing and printing. Michelle Wendt, an Instructional Technologist at the SRI&ETTC, will be leading the workshop. This session is ideal for educators working with students in Grades 3-12.

Our Elementary Screen-Free Coding Workshop is designed to engage young minds in the exciting realm of programming without the need for screens or devices. Participants will engage in hands-on activities and games that teach them the fundamental concepts of coding. They will use tangible materials and creative thinking to solve problems, fostering a deep understanding of coding principles.

This workshop is part of a grant-funded project, the CS Coastal Hub, and is available at NO COST to attend. Teachers attending workshops after-school, in the evening, or on Saturday, will receive a stipend from the CS Coastal Hub. For online workshops cameras must be turned on for the entire workshop in order to receive the stipend! PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! The CORE is the CS Coastal Hubs signature series to integrate Computer Science across the curriculum. We will help you design a plan to incorporate computer science whether you want to embed it into a core content or a special to meet the needs of your students. Topics will include unplugged computer science, physical computing, curriculum writing, data, networks, and artificial intelligence.

Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the region, become part of a PLC with coaching and support, hands on experience with grant supported resources, access to the lending library and more!

Join us for a hands-on learning experience to embrace computer science concepts in your classroom.
