1. MTDS Mastering: Professional Development Committee

These sessions are designed for members of professional development committees who want to provide powerful professional development opportunities for their schools and districts.

Participants will:

-Understand the roles and responsibilities of effective Professional Development Committees (PDCs)

-Examine the relationship between student growth, educator evaluation and professional learning

-Explore the criteria for evaluating professional development and the appropriate budgeting of funds.

- Draft or review their PDC Plan for the school year using Missouri Professional Learning Guidelines (revised 2020) and district/building goals.

This program is part of the Missouri Teacher Development System (mo-mtds.net) 

Suggested items to bring to aid in discussion:

-Current PDC Plan 

-CSIP 

-Building school improvement goals

-Needs assessment results (if available) 

-District/building focus areas for educator evaluation and teacher growth plans (if available)

2. Learning Blade: STEM/CS/CTE Career Awareness Resources - Agency for Teaching, Leading, and Learning

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Join us for an enriching learning experience at our Regional Learning Blade Professional Development sessions across Missouri. In these sessions, you will learn how Learning Blade supports STEM, computer science, and CTE, and how our program can be implemented in a variety of classroom settings!

What is Learning Blade?

Learning Blade is an online system that allows ANY teacher to provide Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), Computer Science (CS) and Career and Technical Education (CTE)

  • Aligned to MO 5th-9th grade math, science, ELA, social studies, and technology standards.
  • Builds skills, awareness, and interest in STEM, CS, and CTE careers and technologies.
  • STEM:

  • Hands-on projects
  • Interdisciplinary lessons Design
  • Thinking exercise
  • 3D printing projects and models
  • CS:

  • 20+ hours coding course CS
  • Career Exploration
  • Online and offline engagement of CS principles
  • CTE:

  • Exploration of 100+ careers with interactive lessons
  • Career videos
  • This session will cover:

  • Best practices for integrating interdisciplinary curriculum.
  • How to implement support to educators and the whole school building.
  • How to train other building instructors to work with Learning Blade.
  • Participants will receive a $150 stipend for attending. (paid after the workshop)

    3. Bolivar Cohort: MTDS Beginning Teacher Assistance Program (BTAP)

    Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

    Location: Bolivar - Lime Bank (Bolivar, MO) [map]

    Audience: Teachers with an Initial Certificate or considered Teachers of Record in their District in their first 2 years of teaching.

    Dates: 7/29/2024 to 3/24/2025

    Beginning teachers are one of our greatest assets. Yet, 17% of teachers leave the career within the first five years (Gray et al., 2015). Effective professional development is a key factor of teacher retention (Podolsky et al., 2018).

    This program is part of the Missouri Teacher Development System

    MTDS Beginning Teacher Assistance Program (BTAP) meets Missouri's BTAP certification requirements.

    This opportunity provides:

    -networking with other new teachers and educational consultants

    -just-in-time learning (critical firsts)

    -awareness of the phases of a new teacher

    -relationship-building skills

    -on-demand learning, including videos by Mike Rutherford

    MTDS BTAP meets Missouri's BTAP certification requirements.

    4. Joplin Cohort: MTDS Beginning Teacher Assistance Program (BTAP)

    Audience: Teachers with an Initial Certificate or considered Teachers of Record in their District in their first 2 years of teaching.

    7. Cohort 1 Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Training

    Dates: 10/2/2024

    New
    Districts who were in Cohort 1 and completed their Special Education Self-Assessment Tiered Monitoring last year will be notified in mid-September of any Corrective Actions they received. This training is designed to provide professional development over the Standards and Indicators called out of compliance in our region. This will fulfill a training component of your CAPs and will assist you in being able to go back and provide professional development on the Indicators your district was called out on. There will be two sessions offered - an AM and an Afternoon. You only need to sign up for ONE session. The morning session will be from 9:00-11:00 and the afternoon session will be from 12:30 - 2:30. We will meet in Room 112 at the Park Central Office Building.
