7. MTDS Mastering A: Facilitating Self-Directed Learning

Program: RPDC - Northwest

Audience: Recommended for past participants of TA & TAG

Dates: 9/14/2023 to 4/11/2024

MTDS Mastering A is a model to support those educators who have been past participants in Teacher Academy and Teacher Academy Graduates. This collaborative group will assist teachers in guiding students to become assessment capable learners while using learner profile surveys to aid in differentiation of instruction. The MTDS Mastering A teachers will also acquire strategies to promote student relationships and foster student communication and expression. Our sessions will focus on:
* Facilitation & discussion exploring issues from multiple perspectives.
* Alignment of strategies, resources, etc. to meet student needs.
* Exploration of methods of differentiation based on learning profiles.
* Designing of assessment strategies.
* Guiding students in collaboration & communication in and beyond the classroom.
* Facilitated Teaching Studies observations/discussions (Mike Rutherford model)

The following MTDS Mastering A Competencies will be met:
* Community Builder: Promotes Diversity Sensitivity; Builds Relationships & Culture
* Instructional Designer: Aligns Instruction to Goals, Curriculum, & Assessments; Differentiates to Meet Students' Needs; Plans Student Progress Monitoring; Selects, Aligns, & Curates Strategies for Student Learning
* Facilitator of Student Thinking & Learning: Facilitates Self-Directed Student Learning; Fosters Student Communication & Expression
