1. MTDS TeachNow: Alt Cert Institute

Program: RPDC - Central

Location: 9 Central RPDC (Warrensburg, MO) [map]

Audience: Non-traditionally certified teachers that have yet to go through the BTAP program.

Dates: 7/30/2024 to 8/13/2024

New
MTDS TeachNow: Alt Cert Institute supports those entering the teaching profession through a non-traditional avenue. This institute will assist non-traditionally certified teachers in preparing to teach their students. Covered in this institute:



• lesson planning strategies;



• alignment of objectives to district curriculum and/or Missouri Learning Standards;



• research-based classroom management strategies, effective classroom practices, and strategies for discouraging unwanted behaviors;



• vocabulary, acronyms, and codes of conduct teachers are expected to know; and



• other topics based on the needs of the group.

After completing this institute, participants will be expected to enroll in MTDS BTAP, a required program for beginning teachers. The Institute DOES NOT fulfill BTAP requirements.

$50 for all sessions. Participants must attend all three sessions. Lunch included!

2. MTDS Beginning Teacher Assistance Program (BTAP) - LEETON COHORT 2024-25

Program: RPDC - Central

Audience: Leeton Teachers

Dates: 8/5/2024 to 3/6/2025

Beginning teachers are one of our greatest assets. Yet, 17% of teachers leave the career within the first five years (Gray et al., 2015). Effective professional development is a key factor of teacher retention (Podolsky et al., 2018).

This program is part of the Missouri Teacher Development System

MTDS Beginning Teacher Assistance Program (BTAP) meets Missouri's BTAP certification requirements.

This opportunity provides:

-networking with other new teachers and educational consultants

-just-in-time learning (critical firsts)

-awareness of the phases of a new teacher

-relationship-building skills

Program: RPDC - Central

Audience: First-Year Teachers

Dates: 8/8/2024 to 2/27/2025

Audience: Teacher Mentors and/or Instructional Coaches

Dates: 8/9/2024 to 3/11/2025

This program offers learning and support for mentor teachers. 

MTDS Mastering: Foundations of Coaching and Mentoring is part of the Missouri Teacher Development System.

This opportunity provides:

-coaching, observation, and feedback training and support.

-consultant support

-regional networking with other mentor teachers

-opportunities to apply newly acquired skills with beginning teachers

-competency-based programming

5. MTDS Teacher Academy 2024-25

Program: RPDC - Central

Location: 9 Central RPDC (Warrensburg, MO) [map]

Audience: A current classroom teacher with 3 years of classroom experience - A teacher with demonstrated classroom effectiveness - A teacher with a commitment to sustained professional growth

Dates: 9/5/2024 to 5/1/2025

This program offers support for mid-career teachers.

MTDS Teacher Academy is part of the Missouri Teacher Development System and is open to any teacher who has:

-completed a Beginning Teacher Assistance Program in MO

-completed at least 3 years of successful teaching

-a strong desire for professional improvement

This opportunity provides:

-Statewide event with national expert, John Antonetti

-a copy of John's book: 17,000 Classroom Visits Can't Be Wrong

-access to on-demand learning modules to enrich teacher learning anywhere and anytime

-consultant support

-networking with other teachers

-competency-based programming

6. MTDS Purposeful Lesson Planning 2024-25

Program: RPDC - Central

Audience: 2nd Year Teachers who have completed 1st year Beginning Teachers

Purposeful Lesson Planning (formerly BTAP B) offers continued support for early career teachers.

MTDS: Purposeful Lesson Planning is part of the Missouri Teacher Development System and is open to any teacher who has completed a Beginning Teacher Assistance Program in Missouri.

This opportunity provides:

-consultant support

-networking with other teachers

-competency-based programming

7. MTDS Grow Your Own (GYO) Network 2024-25

Program: RPDC - Central

Audience: Teachers, Administrators, and/or GYO Program Leaders

Dates: 9/12/2024 to 2/13/2025

MTDS Grow Your Own (GYO) Network

Missouri students need great teachers. Your role as a builder of the next generation of educators is SO important! Together we can help build the future of Missouri teachers.

Regional Grow Your Own networks are designed:

-to connect district GYO program designers/facilitators through active collaborative groups.

-to promote resource/information sharing among colleagues.

-to create opportunities that inspire students to become great educators.

-using the Aspiring Level state competencies as a focus.

Join us if you are a designer/facilitator of a GYO club/chapter or class who wants to:

-connect with other leaders who work with the next generation of educators.

-hear relevant guest speakers.

-learn about resources and opportunities that support your program.

-share the fantastic happenings of your group of future teachers.

Regional networking sessions support the implementation and growth of GYO teacher recruitment programs in all Missouri school districts and charter schools. The state MTDS GYO Coordinator, Sandy Humbyrd, a former Ed Pathways Dual Credit Class Teacher & Ed Club Sponsor, who completed doctoral work on Missouri's GYO programs, will be facilitating network gatherings.

MTDS: Developing Stories Through Powerful Task Design is part of the Missouri Teacher Development System and is open to any teacher who has:

-a strong desire for continuous professional improvement

- It is recommended to attend MTDS Teacher Academy prior to attending this program, but it is not a requirement

This opportunity provides:

-State event with national expert, John Antonetti

-a copy of John's book: Powerful Task Design

-consultant support

10. MTDS Central Region Social Studies Network 2024-25

Program: RPDC - Central

Audience: Middle School and High School Social Studies Teachers

The Central Region Social Studies Network sessions are designed to meet the needs of middle and high school social studies teachers in every stage of their career. Each session offers professional growth opportunities in the areas of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and student engagement.

11. MTDS: Designing for Engagement and Critical Thinking

Learn research and evidence-based practices that promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
Dive deeper into a topic of interest that you want to incorporate into your classroom.
Set growth goals for your students and for yourself.

Take your lesson design to the next level! Learn how to design tasks that promote engagement and critical thinking in your students while also designing your own individual learning as a teacher. This program offers continued support for early educators, those who are entering the profession through other means (such as alternative certification), or those navigating changes in content or grade level.

This program is part of the Missouri Teacher Development System. It uses the following MTDS competencies:
Designs learning tasks, activities, & experiences
Advances critical thinking & problem-solving
Facilitates student inquiry & research
Sets growth goals


$50 for all sessions. Participants must attend all four sessions. Lunch included!
