Program: RPDC - Southeast

Location: 1 Southeast Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Cape Girardeau, MO) [map]

Dates: 9/30/2025 to 3/11/2026

MTDS Instructional Coach Academy is a yearlong professional learning program designed to support and develop instructional coaches as leaders of learning in their schools and districts. Grounded in the work of John Antonetti and other coaching frameworks, this academy equips coaches with practical tools and strategies to elevate teaching and learning through relationship-building, reflective dialogue, and systems-thinking.

Throughout the academy, participants will explore key topics such as defining their role, navigating influence, supporting teacher-student relationships, fostering critical thinking and engagement, and designing systems for continuous instructional improvement. Coaches will engage in collaborative inquiry and reflective goal-setting to refine their practice and expand their impact.

Unlike Foundations of Coaching and Mentoring, which is tailored to teacher mentors supporting new educators, Instructional Coach Academy focuses specifically on the distinct responsibilities and opportunities of instructional coaches working with teachers across all experience levels. This program is designed for those who guide professional practice, influence school culture, and lead instructional growth without formal evaluative authority.

By the end of the academy, participants will leave with a clear, actionable coaching plan, strategies for navigating complex conversations, and a deeper understanding of how to support effective, equitable teaching and learning in their schools.

For the greatest impact, schools are encouraged to enroll teachers in the companion program, Teacher Academy, allowing instructional coaches and teachers to learn alongside one another and collaborate during the state meeting with John Antonetti.
