To celebrate the completion of a successful first year of teaching, MTDS: Purposeful Lesson Planning includes a statewide event featuring Mike Rutherford, author of The Artisan Teacher! Participants will also receive a copy of Mike's book The Artisan Teacher.

MTDS: Purposeful Lesson Planning is part of the Missouri Teacher Development System and is open to any teacher who has completed a Beginning Teacher Assistance Program in Missouri.

-completed at least 3 years of successful teaching

-a strong desire for professional improvement

This opportunity provides:

-Statewide event with national expert, John Antonetti

-a copy John's book: 17,000 Classroom Visits Can't Be Wrong

-access to on-demand learning modules to enrich teacher learning anywhere and anytime

-consultant support

-networking with other teachers

-competency-based programming

8. Developing Stories Through Powerful Task Design (SOUTHEAST)

- It is recommended to attend MTDS Teacher Academy prior to attending this program, but it is not a requirement

Missouri students need great teachers. Your role as a builder of the next generation of educators is SO important! Together we can help build the future of Missouri teachers.

Regional Grow Your Own networks are designed:

-to connect district GYO program designers/facilitators through active collaborative groups.

-to promote resource/information sharing among colleagues.

-to create opportunities that inspire students to become great educators.

-using the Aspiring Level state competencies as a focus.

Join us if you are a designer/facilitator of a GYO club/chapter or class who wants to:

-connect with other leaders who work with the next generation of educators.

-hear relevant guest speakers.

-learn about resources and opportunities that support your program.

-share the fantastic happenings of your group of future teachers.

Regional networking sessions support the implementation and growth of GYO teacher recruitment programs in all Missouri school districts and charter schools. The state MTDS GYO Coordinator, Sandy Humbyrd, a former Ed Pathways Dual Credit Class Teacher & Ed Club Sponsor, who completed doctoral work on Missouri's GYO programs, will be facilitating network gatherings.

12. Student-Driven Learning: Helping Students Take Charge of Their Own Learning (MTDS)

Students who drive their own learning are assessment-capable learners. They know their current level of understanding, where they are going, and how to get there. This one-day workshop focuses on empowering students to take charge of their identities as learners. Student-driven learning can help minimize disruptions in the classroom and maximize engagement. The strategies and practices shared in this workshop will apply to any content and grade level, K-12.

14. Developing Learner Engagement: Classroom Engagement in an Unengaged World (MTDS)

Learning often takes a backseat to the many distractions tugging at students' attention. How do we lead students to focus on and participate in their own learning? Developing student engagement and building intrinsic motivation in the classroom emphasizes a love for and investment in learning. This workshop will present research-based strategies and practices that are simple to implement and will increase learner engagement. Material will apply to any content and grade level, K-12.

15. MTDS Mastering: Professional Development Committee

Program: RPDC - Southeast

Location: 1 University Center (Cape Girardeau, MO) [map]

Dates: 4/24/2024

These sessions are designed for members of professional development committees who want to provide powerful professional development opportunities for their schools and districts.

Participants will:

-Understand the roles and responsibilities of effective Professional Development Committees (PDCs)

-Examine the relationship between student growth, educator evaluation and professional learning

-Explore the criteria for evaluating professional development and the appropriate budgeting of funds.

- Draft or review their PDC Plan for the school year using Missouri Professional Learning Guidelines (revised 2020) and district/building goals.
