Collaborative and practical learning experiences for principals during their first stages of their career are guided by the content of the MLDS and include administrative mentoring that is responsive to your needs as a practicing building leader. The MLDS is intensive, relevant, practical, and growth-evoking professional learning.

This program is developed in collaboration with, and supported by, MAESP, MOASSP, and MASA. The Learning is aligned to the MLDS Competencies and National Professional Standards for Educational Leaders.

This is the first year mentoring program for new administrators.

The MLDS Mentor Training is for new MLDS mentors and qualifies you to act as a mentor for principals in the MLDS Emerging Level 1 and/or 2. The training is also for returning mentors that want to brush up on their skills. The MLDS Mentor Training will provide new or returning mentors with a brief background of the process and intention of MLDS, state requirements for mentoring, introduction of MLDS curricula, and specific coaching ideas to make your mentoring experience successful and effective. There is no cost for this training.

Your MLDS Specialists have invited you to this training. You will have the option to participate in any one of two in-person sessions or in any one of two virtual sessions.

Each mentor will need to complete a mentor application, a contract for professional services, and a W-9 form to recieve payment.

New Leaders Year 1 Cohort:
The Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) is a series of professional learning experiences specifically tailored to develop leadership capacity across multiple domains of leadership. Research and practical experience confirm the impact of leadership on multiple aspects of school life, personal satisfaction, recruitment and retention of faculty and staff, and student achievement, to name a few. Essential activities will include, but are not limited to productive and relevant mentoring (Emerging Level - years 1 and 2) and comprehensive and progressive learning treatments designed to meet principals' needs at their current level of experience (Emerging and Developing Levels). Join this cohort and watch your leadership skill and professional network grow. Not sure which cohort to join? Just ask!

7. MLDS: New Leaders Year II Cohort

New Leaders Year 2 Cohort:
The Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) is a continuum of learning and supports provided to school leaders from aspiring to retiring. In addition to content available for aspiring school leaders, five levels of support comprise MLDS: New Leaders Year I, New Leaders Year II, Sustaining Leadership Year III, Sustaining Leadership IV and Transformational Leadership V. School leaders will want to invest in their own professional development by attending each level of training. The Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) New Leaders Year 1 provides principals: Conclusion of two-years of productive and relevant mentoring, training and support through research-based learning experiences, opportunities to develop formal and informal professional networks. MLDS New Leaders Year 2 includes two regional meetings which provide practical, relevant learning as well as two coaching labs providing hands on experiences to improve skills in assessing school culture. In addition, a minimum of 20 hours of mentor support are included. Participation in New Leaders Year 1 is a pre-requisite for this cohort. If you are in year two of school leadership and did not participate in New Leaders Year 1, please contact the RPDC Leadership Development Specialist, Tamara Moore-Callahan at tymtc7@umkc.edu to discuss your best course placement. Completion of the New Leaders/Emerging Level series (year 1 and 2) meets administrative certification requirements.

10. MLDS Emerging Year 2 for 2023-24 - Central RPDC

Program: RPDC - Central

Audience: Principals and assistant principals that have completed MLDS Emerging Year 1 and their mentors.

Dates: 9/14/2023 to 2/29/2024

The Missouri Leadership Development System provides training and support to building administrators through research-based learning experiences. The regional meetings provide practical knowledge, skills, along with networking opportunities for building administrators. The coaching labs provide hands-on, practical experiences for leaders to improve their skills in developing and growing teachers. The Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) is an important component to support the effort of all buildings.

The Emerging Year 2 level is designed for second year principals and assistant principals. Principals will continue to be guided by their established mentors. Completion of Emerging Year 1 is a prerequisite for participation in Emerging Year 2 activities. Participation in both Year 1 and Year 2 completes DESE requirements for new administrator mentoring.

Participants need only register one time to attend all sessions. Mentors are encouraged to register but will not be billed or charged for registration.

11. MLDS Assistant Principal Networking & Support

Program: RPDC - Central

Location: Varies (Varies, MO)

Audience: Building Leaders in Year 3 and Beyond

Dates: 9/18/2023 to 3/21/2024

The Assistant Principal Networking & Support sessions are designed for assistant principals at any level of service or experience. Participants will actively engage in networking with other APs to grow as visionary, innovative, relational, instructional, and managerial leaders.

Although assistant principals may be attending regular MLDS Emerging or Developing Level sessions, the MLDS Assistant Principal Networking and Support sessions are specifically tailored for the assistant principal.

These sessions are open to any assistant principal regardless of previous participation in MLDS activities.

12. MLDS Developing Level 1 for 2023-24 - Central RPDC

Program: RPDC - Central

Location: Varies (Varies, MO)

Audience: Building Leaders in Year 3 and Beyond

Dates: 9/19/2023 to 3/12/2024

The MLDS Developing Level 1 is designed for principals in their third year of practice. Developing Level 1 (D1)is a continuation of the MLDS Emerging Levels 1 and 2. D1 can also be a complement to those participating in the MLDS Leadership Academy. MLDS D1 in the Central Region includes three sessions on the UCM campus plus a Coaching Lab in a nearby school.

Principals at the Developing Level 1 will continue their study of the five domains of leadership learning new ideas and refining previously learned ideas.

Those intending to register for MLDS Leadership Academy (which includes Outdoor Leadership Academy) must also register by clicking here. The Central Region RPDC charges $500 per person ($600 per person for non-members) for Leadership Academy registration. There is no extra charge for participation in MLDS Developing Level 1 registration with Leadership Academy.

13. MLDS: Sustaining Leadership IV Cohort

Sustaining Leadership IV Cohort:
The Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) is a continuum of learning and supports provided to school leaders from aspiring to retiring. In addition to content available for aspiring school leaders, five levels of support comprise MLDS: New Leaders Year I, New Leaders Year II, Sustaining Leadership Year III, Sustaining Leadership IV and Transformational Leadership V. School leaders will want to invest in their own professional development by attending each level of training. The Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) Sustaining Leadership IV Cohort provides principals training and support through research-based learning experiences, opportunities to develop formal and informal professional networks. MLDS Sustaining Leadership IV includes four regional meetings which provide practical, relevant learning as well as one coaching lab providing hands on experiences to improve skills in assessing school culture. Participation in Sustaining Leadership III is a recommended pre-requisite for this course. Welcome to MLDS 1 Session 2 Springfield Cohort! We will meet on September 21st at the Meyer Alumni Center, 300 S. Jefferson, Springfield starting at 9:00 AM. Our session will focus on decision making to include the duality of DM, and the ethical and participative components of decision making. Who are we as leaders? We will build a Personal Leadership Platform to help us discover the answers and more! It's a great session of learning experiences that are hands-on while networking with your colleagues!

Location: 300 S. Jefferson (corner of Jefferson and McDaniel St.) downtown Springfield. The parking garage is located adjacent to the building, no code is needed.

Missouri Leadership Academy:

Leadership Academy is part of the Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS), which develops effective school leaders who: Engage with school and community, serve as catalysts for meaningful and productive change, recognize and develop excellent instruction, and create and sustain a culture of continuous learning. Leadership Academy is comprised of school leaders across the state of Missouri and aims to promote the success of each student by building leadership capacity in the following domains: Relational, Instructional, Visionary, Innovative and Managerial. Leadership Academy offers four regional meetings, a three-day outdoor learning experience and statewide meetings. Statewide meetings will be held in mid-Missouri and Potosi areas, and regional meetings will be conducted in cohorts in your area.

Essential activities will include, but are not limited to comprehensive and progressive learning treatments designed to meet principals' needs at their current level of experience (Emerging, Sustaining or Transformational), opportunities to develop formal and informal professional networks, relevant leadership learning facilitated by MLDS specialists, delivered in a format that honors a principal's time, experience and areas of expertise in the education field. This cohort is well suited for school leaders with 6+ years of administrator experience. Completion of Sustaining Leadership content is recommended. If you have 6+ years of leadership experience but did not participate in Sustaining Leadership content, please contact the RPDC Leadership Development Specialist, Tamara Moore-Callahan at tymtc7@umkc.edu to discuss your best cohort placement.

    Welcome to Missouri Leadership Academy - Northwest Cohort! Missouri Leadership Academy is part of the Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) and is intended for building level administrators to participate in both statewide and regional professional learning and networking for an intensive year of leadership development. Leadership Academy is designed for building leaders in Year 3 and beyond. The Leadership Academy emphasizes the importance of building capacity of instructional practices, leadership for change, and deep understanding of self and others that correlates to high academic achievement for students.

    The program includes includes:
    * 3 state meetings: Kickoff (June), Winter Meeting (January) and Graduation (June)
    * Outdoor Leadership Experience (October) held at YMCA Trout Lodge, Potosi
    * 4 regional cohort meetings
    * Optional legislative/DESE visit

    Participants also need to register for the statewide Leadership Academy 39 (2024-2025)

    Fee includes program registration for regional meetings. Transportation and lodging to state meetings is not included. An additional $300 fee will be paid to YMCA of the Ozarks for OLE.

    Welcome to MLDS ASPIRING LEADER NETWORK! The MLDS ASPIRING NETWORK develops teacher leaders seeking quality professional learning that will take their leadership to the next level or prepare them for accepting their first principal position in the future. Acquire the skills and practices needed to recognize and develop excellent classroom instruction, understand yourself and others, develop your decision-making skills to make the right call on tough decisions, and learn to read and shape a school's culture. ASPIRING LEADER participants will engage in three regional meetings that provide practical knowledge, skills, along with networking opportunities for future building administrators. The capstone to this year of learning includes registration to the NORTHWEST LEADERSHIP SUMMIT on May 29, 2025.

    Audience: Teachers and non-certified staff who have interest in school leadership.

    The Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) is a continuum of learning and supports provided to school leaders from aspiring to retiring. In addition to content available for aspiring school leaders, five levels of support comprise MLDS: New Leaders Year I, New Leaders Year II, Sustaining Leadership Year III, Sustaining Leadership IV and Transformational Leadership V & VI.

    Aspiring Leaders Cohort:
    The Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS) Aspiring Leaders Cohort: Training and support through research-based learning experiences, opportunities to develop formal and informal professional networks. MLDS Aspiring Leaders includes three regional meetings which provide practical and relevant learning to assist prospective schools leaders in the preparation phase, or pre-service, that results in an administrative certificate. If you are currently serving in a teacher or non-administrator role and have interest to become a certified school administrator, this cohort is for you.
