An additional session #1 has been added on August 7. Districts who wish to participate, but missed the first session in July are welcome to join by attending this session in August.

This seven session series spans a little over one school year- from July 2024 to September 2025. During this time, we will train your curriculum leaders to help teachers write curriculum in all subject areas, K-12. We will also provide them with the necessary templates to organize the curriculum. After each session, attendees will go back and work with teachers to complete the work that was discussed in that session. For that reason, districts should send curriculum directors, instructional coaches, and administrators. As the curriculum will be built online, having at least one staff member who is good with technology will also be important. Districts should send two to four people. Each session will cover a different aspect of the the curriculum process, so attendance at each session will be imperative. Our goal is that attendees will have the knowledge and skills to help their teachers write a complete curriculum by September 2025.

LETRS for Early Childhood Educators is a professional learning experience for pre-K and Kindergarten teachers that provides deep knowledge of early literacy instruction. Teachers gain new skills to help young learners build a literacy foundation before they even learn to read or write.

    This professional learning experience:
Helps teachers understand the development of oral language, print knowledge, alphabet learning, and writing skills.
Provides the "why” and "how” of early literacy instruction across all domains: language, literacy, cognitive, motor, social, and emotional.
Empowers teachers to apply best practice strategies to guide children's learning.

This dynamic blended learning experience includes three components:
    LETRS Online Learning Platform
LETRS for Early Childhood Educators Print Manual
LETRS for Early Childhood Educators Professional Learning Sessions (Live In-Person or Live Online)

During the LETRS for Early Childhood Educators course of study, you'll watch videos of expert teaching, complete activities to reinforce concepts, and have opportunities to apply what you're studying with young learners.

Program: RPDC - Agency for Teaching, Leading and Learning

Location: Missouri State University - Meyer Alumni Center (Springfield, MO) [map]

    Dates: 2/7/2025

In classroom settings, self-monitoring offers several advantages. Self-monitoring requires that the student be an active participant in the intervention, with responsibility for measuring and evaluating his or her behaviors. Also, in order to accurately self-evaluate behaviors, the student must first learn the teacher's behavioral expectations. That ability of a child or youth to understand and internalize the behavioral expectations of others is a milestone in the development of social skills. Finally, student self-monitoring data is typically economical to collect, even in a busy classroom, and can often be used to document the success of a behavioral intervention.
