1. MWEE 101 Act 48 hours

Meeting Times: Asynchronous course

MWEE 101 is an online, asynchronous course for the Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE). The course is not a requirement of a MWEE training.

This course is made up of three lessons: Why MWEEs?, What Makes a MWEE?, and Planning and Evaluating MWEEs. Each of the three lessons are followed by a reflection lesson. You will contribute to a single reflection document throughout the course and upload this document at the completion of the course if you want a Certificate of Completion. Most participants report spending 5-10 hours taking this course.

CCIU will be managing your Act 48 credit for this course.

2. Mastering the PA STEELS Standards: A Guide to Three-Dimensional Learning

Meeting Times: Asynchronous work.

Designed for both classroom and non-formal educators, this self-paced online course offers an in-depth exploration of the Pennsylvania STEELS Standards. Participants will dive into three-dimensional learning, gaining a thorough understanding of scientific practices and cross-cutting concepts. The course provides a detailed overview of the STEELS standards structure across grade levels and equips educators with tools, strategies, and resources to implement these standards effectively. Whether you teach in a traditional classroom or an informal learning setting, this course will help you create engaging, standards-aligned experiences that inspire curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of science.

3. Elementary Curriculum Launch

Program: Workshop

Audience: Teachers, Administrators, Coaches

Dates: 8/5/2025 to 8/7/2025

Meeting Times: 8/5/25, 8/6/25, 8/7/25. 8:00am - 3:00pm each day

This three-day professional learning session introduces teachers to the OpenSciEd Elementary materials in addition to the corresponding units. As a result of this professional learning, teachers will understand the supports embedded within the OpenSciEd Elementary units that align with the shifts called for by A Framework for K1/412 Science Education and the Next Generation Science Standards. Included in this session are opportunities for teachers to: Watch videos of students engaging with the OpenSciEd units Engage in the actual lessons of the unit as a student and adult learner Deepen their understanding of three-dimensional instruction. Lunch is included.
