This beginner's level course explores manding, beginning with defining what a mand is, moving through motivating operations, teaching procedures, and data collection.

4. DATA and Verbal Behavior-Not Another Four Letter Word Asynchronous Schoology Course

Dates: 6/26/2025 to 12/31/2025

This course picks up where the Verbal Behavior and Intensive Teaching left off to answer the questions posed at the end of the course. Participants will take a deeper dive into intensive teaching to explore data systems, reinforcers, mastery of skills, and maintaining a student's variable ratio of reinforcement.

5. Pairing and Reinforcement Asynchronous Schoology Course

In this two-hour course, participants will learn the basics of reinforcement and pairing. Following instruction and video examples, participants will demonstrate how to pair with students as well as define reinforcement and pairing and the applicable variables that effect these procedures. 6. Running Successful IT Sessions Asynchronous Schoology Course

This intermediate level course will take participants beyond the basic procedures of running intensive teaching. Following the course, participants will describe why fidelity is important, identify and describe expectations within the Intensive Teaching Fidelity Checklist, and relate how the principles of reinforcement apply to intensive teaching sessions.

7. Using the VB-MAPP: From Assessment to Programming Asynchronous Schoology Course

These POC collaborative meetings are for Lancaster and Lebanon County library stakeholders, including AccessPA member libraries, for the purpose of providing pertinent information concerning technology tools, ethical and legal issues, and professional development opportunities. In addition, time will be devoted for new learning and exploration for the integration of IMS and other tools/strategies supporting all content area curricula.
School emails are legal records, potential liability traps, and sometimes… overshared. This session explores smart email practices for administrators, including tone, retention, access, legal discovery, and how to set district-wide expectations that reduce risk while supporting staff.

Participants will develop the knowledge and skill required to provide immediate mental health crisis interventions to the students, staff, and school community members who have been simultaneously exposed to an acute traumatic stressor. The knowledge and skill developed within this session also helps to build a bridge to the psychotherapeutic and trauma-informed mental health response sometimes required to address challenges associated with trauma exposure.

Transition Council (TC) is a network of parents, consumers, educators, and community service providers helping students with special needs in their transition from school to adult life. Meetings will: inform parents of available transition supports from the school and the community; establish a communication link from school to family to community services; identify community issues and suggest possible resolutions; and work toward achieving successful student transitions from school to adult life. Meetings include guest speakers and open conversation between parents, educators, and agency representatives to exchange ideas.

Working with community partners is an important part of transition planning. Waivers and other supports may play an important part in that planning. ASERT will review and explain a few of the waivers available and the process of how and who to contact.

Novice teachers are in the early stages of their teaching career, within their first or second year of teaching, are new to the field of autism, or are emergency certified special educators. Join these educators from across Lancaster and Lebanon counties to learn, network, and grow! These meetings will allow discussion of topics pertinent to leading autistic support classrooms. Each session will take place the third Tuesday of the month and explore a strategy as well as allow time for participants to ask questions and network in a job-alike group.

39. CPI/ Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Institute Refresher

Program: Behavior, Safe Schools, and Culture/ ECSES

Audience: Currently certified IU13 staff and employees of public school districts within the IU13 Service Area.

Dates: 11/20/2025

PRE-REQUISITE: Proof of current CPI certification, i.e.- blue card.

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training through Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. is a nationally recognized program designed to teach staff and building level teams to intervene in a safe, non-harmful manner when students become disruptive or violent. Participants will learn preventive techniques, therapeutic physical intervention and prevention assessments.

Attendees must participate in the entire training in order to receive the nationally recognized Crisis Prevention Institute content and certification.

Close partner practice of physical techniques is a required component of the training.

Please dress casually with sneakers or rubber-soled closed-toe shoes. For your safety, you may be asked to remove jewelry.

Lunch is on your own. (30 minutes)

Participation is limited to IU13 staff and employees of the 22 public school districts within the IU13 Service Area.

77. Transition Network Meeting-Self Advocacy Youth Coordinator - PEAL Center-VIRTUAL MEETING

Transition Council (TC) is a network of parents, consumers, educators, and community service providers helping students with special needs in their transition from school to adult life. Meetings will: inform parents of available transition supports from the school and the community; establish a communication link from school to family to community services; identify community issues and suggest possible resolutions; and work toward achieving successful student transitions from school to adult life. Meetings include guest speakers and open conversation between parents, educators, and agency representatives to exchange ideas.

Yearly IEP meetings address student needs, accommodations and goals. A student who is turning 14 years old is getting ready to create a transition plan with their IEP team about their future. Learning to advocating for themselves is a very important skill and takes time to mature. PEAL Center Youth Coordinators and Self Advocates are important community partners to have at these meetings.

78. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Initial Training

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training through Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. is a nationally recognized program designed to teach staff and building level teams to intervene in a safe, non-harmful manner when students become disruptive or violent. Participants will learn preventive techniques, therapeutic physical intervention and prevention assessments.

Attendees must participate in the entire training in order to receive the nationally recognized Crisis Prevention Institute content and certification.

Close partner practice of physical techniques is a required component of the training.

Please dress casually with sneakers or rubber-soled closed-toe shoes. For your safety, you may be asked to remove jewelry.

83. Autism Academy: Early Numeracy Skills

Audience: Coaches, Teachers, Paraeducators, Speech Therapists, Administrators, and other staff working in intensive autistic support classrooms

Participants in this training will learn how to teach their students to understand the concept of numbers such as subitizing, identifying numbers, 1:1 correspondence, and much more! This session focuses on the development of these skills via errorless teaching using a skill sequence developed by PaTTAN.

Act 48 hours will be provided to workshop participants. In accordance with the recommendation of the Act 48 Advisory Council, individuals attending workshops and conferences must arrive on time and stay the duration of the workshop in order to receive Act 48 Professional Education Hours. No partial credit will be awarded.

85. Compassion Resilience for Flight Team Members

The work we all do at times can compromise our own well-being.

Breathe deeply. Move your body. Practice Self Care. We know what we should do and yet, let's get real, it is hard.

Compassion resilience is strengthened within hope-centered approaches that increase our wellbeing. Time to discuss the real barriers to self-care as well as determine how to take action in our lives to focus on hope and compassion resilience.

Define compassion resilience and differentiate it from compassion fatigue and burnout.

Identify signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue in themselves and colleagues.

Explain the key components of hope and compassion resilience (e.g., self-awareness, boundaries, support systems).

Apply practical strategies to maintain or restore compassion resilience in challenging professional contexts.

Develop a personal action plan for integrating compassion resilience practices into their daily work.

NASW-PA Chapter is a co-sponsor of this workshop. 1.5 CEs will be awarded for completion of this course. NASW has been designated as a pre-approved provider of professional continuing education for social workers (Section 47.36), Marriage and Family Therapist (Section 48.36) and Professional Counselors (Section 49.36) by the PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists and Professional Counselors."

The mission of the Transition Council is to promote a collaborative partnership between school districts, service providers, government organizations, and employers within the local communities of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. This coordinated effort will provide information to design effective transition plans from school to adult life for students with disabilities. The objective of these meetings is to provide a welcoming, supportive venue for all stakeholders to discuss current topics pertinent to effective and successful transition planning.

90. Novice Autistic Support Teachers Networking Group *NOTE TIME CHANGE*

Audience: Teachers who are new to autistic support, internal coaches, administration, related service providers

Novice teachers are in the early stages of their teaching career, within their first or second year of teaching, are new to the field of autism, or are emergency certified special educators. Join these educators from across Lancaster and Lebanon counties to learn, network, and grow! These meetings will allow discussion of topics pertinent to leading autistic support classrooms. Each session will take place the third Tuesday of the month and explore a strategy as well as allow time for participants to ask questions and network in a job-alike group.

91. Fraction Sense: Beyond Round Foods and Shaded Parts

Program: Mathematics/ IS

Audience: Grades 3-7 educators, interventionists, instructional coaches, and math leaders

Do your students struggle with reasoning about fractions, thinking flexibly with them, and estimating their values? Are you looking for engaging, high-quality tasks to deepen understanding and spark meaningful discussion? In this workshop, participants will explore what fraction sense is and how it develops. Through a deep dive into key fraction concepts and operations, we will examine how to build conceptual understanding rather than reliance on rote procedure and abstract symbols. This session will provide strategies for both first instruction and intervention, ensuring all students have the support they need to develop strong reasoning of fractions. Participants will gain dynamic yet practical instructional activities that promote flexibility, reasoning, and number sense with fractions. A collection of ready-to-use resources will be provided, allowing educators to make fraction sense a daily part of instruction.

Core Outcomes
Workshop participants will be able to:
* articulate the progression of concepts and skills within fraction content across grades,
* demonstrate their own deep understanding of essential fraction concepts through their use of manipulatives, drawings, and justification,
* identify high-leverage instructional practices for student mastery of fraction concepts,
* design instructional tasks that feature high-quality tasks and connect representations to symbols and procedures, and
* assess student understanding of fraction concepts to provide meaningful feedback and make instructional decisions

The goals of the quarterly virtual learning opportunities are: To provide nonpublic administrators and educators with updated and useful information on important educational topics that have a substantial impact on student engagement and learning outcomes. To provide time for participants to engage in open dialogue and collaborative professional learning, examining and problem-solving current scenarios while strengthening their individual professional capacities. 95. Supporting STEELS as a School Leader - Winter 2026 Act 45 Course

The PA Inspired Leadership Program's STEELS Leadership Course is designed to equip school and system leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the Pennsylvania STEELS standards effectively. This course emphasizes phenomena-based learning, the integration of science, technology, engineering, and environmental education, and effective curriculum design and assessment strategies. Participants will learn to support teachers in enhancing student engagement and conceptual understanding through innovative instructional strategies.

Course information will be sent to all registered participants prior to the start of the event.

97. CPI/ Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Institute Refresher

Program: Behavior, Safe Schools, and Culture/ ECSES

Audience: Currently certified IU13 staff and employees of public school districts within the IU13 Service Area.

PRE-REQUISITE: Proof of current CPI certification, i.e.- blue card.

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training through Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. is a nationally recognized program designed to teach staff and building level teams to intervene in a safe, non-harmful manner when students become disruptive or violent. Participants will learn preventive techniques, therapeutic physical intervention and prevention assessments.

Attendees must participate in the entire training in order to receive the nationally recognized Crisis Prevention Institute content and certification.

Close partner practice of physical techniques is a required component of the training.

Please dress casually with sneakers or rubber-soled closed-toe shoes. For your safety, you may be asked to remove jewelry.

Lunch is on your own. (30 minutes)

With collaboration (effect size .46) and teacher questioning (effect size .49) both proven to enhance student learning, how can we design classrooms that maximize their impact? This interactive session explores the controlled chaos of a truly collaborative learning environment-one where students engage in meaningful dialogue, work together effectively, and respond to intentional, thought-provoking teacher questions.

Participants will explore how to teach and scaffold collaboration strategies, build in opportunities for student response, and structure learning to promote authentic engagement. We'll unpack what effective collaboration looks like and how to support it. We'll also examine teacher questioning strategies, aligned with depth of knowledge, to drive curiosity, engagement, and deeper understanding.
