Program: SRI&ETTC
Dates: 10/22/2026
In response to Governor Phil Murphy's August 2024 signing of P.L. 2024, c.52, this workshop will guide school leaders, educators, and specialists in translating New Jersey's renewed commitment to literacy into effective classroom practice. With an emphasis on evidence-based instruction, participants will explore the revised New Jersey Student Learning Standards, dyslexia legislation, and the New Jersey Tiered System of Supports (NJTSS).
This hands-on session will unpack key components of the legislation, including universal screening requirements for K-3, timely family communication, data reporting expectations, and essential supports for multilingual learners and students with disabilities. Attendees will also examine NJDOE's guidance on approved screening tools, instructional materials, and intervention practices.
By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with:
- A clear understanding of legal requirements and timelines
- Tools for selecting and using reliable screeners
- Strategies for data analysis and targeted intervention
- Professional learning approaches to support a school-wide culture of literacy
This session is ideal for administrators, general and special educators, reading specialists, and support personnel seeking to lead and sustain high-quality literacy instruction under the new mandates.
