This four-part ACT 45 professional learning series is designed to support school building leaders as they navigate instructional leadership and strive to meet students' evolving needs. This year's theme, Leading for Deeper Learning, guides both individual professional growth and collaborative networking. As part of the series, each participant will have the opportunity to complete Leading Learning, an online, self-paced course designed by Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) & Harvard Business School, and hosted on Harvard's portal. Key themes explored throughout the series include leading instruction for transformation, the foundations of deeper learning, and cultivating an culture that fosters deeper learning in every classroom for every student.

8. WRS Level I Certification Practicum {By Invitation Only (Non-Pub)}

The Wilson Reading System (WRS) level 1 Certification Practicum is designed to prepare teachers to effectively implement Steps 1 through 6 of the Wilson Reading System (WRS) with students reading and spelling below grade level and those diagnosed with language-based learning disabilities. This course includes multi-sensory techniques and effective strategies in a one-to-one setting. WRS Level I Certification provides extensive professional learning and support enabling teachers to effectively implement the program with fidelity. The WRS Level I Certification Practicum is a yearlong program that includes approximately 90 hours of online instruction, A 65 lesson practicum that includes demonstrations, 5 observations, and feedback from a Wilson Credentialed Trainer. This path to WRS Level 1 Certification involves online coursework and live web practicum Implementation Meetings with the Wilson Credential Trainer.

Prerequisites: Participants must have a bachelor's degree in education or a related field and have completed the WRS introductory course within the last five years participants will need to administer the wist test kit for pre slash post testing practicum student requirements and an additional standardized normed reading test with sub tests that compare word attack to comprehension skills it is highly recommended that you have a practicum student in mind who appears to fit the selection criteria.

Materials: Participants are responsible for providing or having access to their own WRS Steps 1-6 Kit, 4th edition, containing instructor and student materials and the Word Spelling Test (WIST) for student testing. (These materials are not included in the cost of the course)

PREPaRE trains school-employed mental health professionals and other educators how to best fill the roles and responsibilities generated by their membership on school crisis response teams. PREPaRE is the only comprehensive, nationally available training curriculum developed by educators (each with firsthand school crisis response experience and formal training) for educators.

This 1-day workshop focuses on crisis prevention and preparedness. Participants will learn how to establish and sustain comprehensive school safety and crisis teams, identify and mitigate potential risks, and strengthen their school's capacity to prevent and prepare for crises before they occur. Emphasis is placed on developing policies and procedures, fostering resilience, and promoting a safe, supportive learning environment for all students and staff.

This course guides participants in developing and implementing classroom strategies that cultivate teacher and student well-being. The ways in which teachers and students react to anxiety and stress will determine the growth (or lack thereof) and experiences in the classroom each day. Mental health is of great concern in the classroom (and the world) as educational, financial, social, mental and emotional pressures can seem overwhelming at times. Teacher and student well-being must first be addressed before teaching and learning can take place. Participants will explore curricula for how to best deal with their students anxiety and stress in the classroom. Participants will also explore scientific research, best practices and the holistic education of the mind and body that we strive to provide our 21st century students. Beat The Bullying is an online course that will journey through the ongoing issue of bullying in classrooms. It will take an in depth look into the prevention of this growing problem, where teachers can learn many techniques to have a peaceful learning environment. 3/3 If You Believe in Early Intervention, Then You Need to Get Tier 2 Right Early intervention is about providing early and timely intervention as close to the time when a student's need emerges. Too often services are reactive and treatment-heavy with limited success. Tier 2 is all about bringing early intervention, and when Tier 2 is weak, many students look like they need Tier 3 services of special education. This featured talk will present on how to get Tier 2 right, including the Tier problem-solving process for activating Tier 2, data-based decisions, and a menu of evidence-based interventions that can be precisely matched to the root cause that explains why students' needs exist.

This course provides participants with an overview of the Wilson Reading System (WRS) and serves as the prerequisite for WRS Level I Certification Training. This course examines the intensive intervention reading instruction necessary for students in grade two and above with persistent and significant phonological-coding deficits. Participants learn about dyslexia (indicators, misconceptions, neurobiological aspects, and prevalence), typical versus atypical reading acquisition, appropriate student identification and placement, and key components and principles of instruction, including the factors necessary for high-quality program implementation. How to teach phonology (including phonemic awareness), morphology, and orthography in an integrated, explicit, systematic, and multisensory way is demonstrated and practiced during the course. Participants explore the standard ten-part WRS Lesson Plan and practice planning, delivering, and individualizing a WRS Lesson while receiving modeling and feedback from a Wilson Credentialed Trainer.

Building and strengthening relationships and community is a critical component of school culture. Restorative practices is an essential process for creating a positive learning environment, building social capital, and resolving relational issues. During this two-day introductory experience, you will learn the fundamental theory and practices for engaging with students, staff, and parents in your school setting. Topics include the importance of being explicit about practice, how to set high expectations while being supportive, and ways to build community in your setting. We will discuss giving direct feedback and asking questions that foster accountability, as well as utilizing effective methods to resolve common conflicts. You will learn to apply the restorative practices continuum, understanding which restorative processes are best for achieving certain goals or responding to particular situations. We will focus specifically on facilitating circles, an essential process for creating a positive learning environment and school culture. Circles can be used both proactively and responsively to build social capital, sustain relationships, address social problems, and respond when harm occurs. Participants will spend time planning circles to use in their schools immediately.

This course provides participants with an overview of the Wilson Reading System (WRS) and serves as the prerequisite for WRS Level I Certification Training. This course examines the intensive intervention reading instruction necessary for students in grade two and above with persistent and significant phonological-coding deficits. Participants learn about dyslexia (indicators, misconceptions, neurobiological aspects, and prevalence), typical versus atypical reading acquisition, appropriate student identification and placement, and key components and principles of instruction, including the factors necessary for high-quality program implementation. How to teach phonology (including phonemic awareness), morphology, and orthography in an integrated, explicit, systematic, and multisensory way is demonstrated and practiced during the course. Participants explore the standard ten-part WRS Lesson Plan and practice planning, delivering, and individualizing a WRS Lesson while receiving modeling and feedback from a Wilson Credentialed Trainer.
