AI University: A 6-Step Program to Become a Master in AI is a comprehensive professional learning series designed to build educators' confidence, skills, and leadership in AI integration.

Through six scaffolded sessions, participants will progress from foundational knowledge to advanced applications, exploring how AI can support teaching, learning, and student empowerment. Each step includes hands-on exploration, classroom-ready strategies, and reflective practice. In this interactive workshop, educators will explore how thoughtfully designed PBL experiences can move beyond isolated technology activities to create purposeful, student-centered learning connected to real-world challenges and future-ready skills.

    In this hands-on professional learning experience, educators will begin with a brief discussion of the AI Guidelines and expectations for responsible AI use. The 30-minute facilitated instructional portion will then focus on how teachers can use MagicSchool AI to streamline everyday tasks, support instructional planning, differentiate learning, create classroom resources, and improve communication with students and families.

    Participants will then explore tools and resources through the MagicSchool Choice Board, selecting options that best match their role, grade level, content area, and professional goals. Educators will have dedicated work time to create a resource they can use immediately with students, families, colleagues, or within their own instructional planning.

    What if classrooms were designed to maximize student thinking rather than student compliance?

    Much of how classrooms look and much of what happens in them today is guided by institutional norms laid down at the inception of an industrial-age model of public education. These norms have enabled a culture of teaching and learning that is often devoid of student thinking. In this workshop, internationally known educator and author Peter Liljedahl invites participants to experience what a thinking classroom looks, sounds, and feels like. In the process, they will be exposed to some of the results of over 15 years of research into how teachers can transform their classrooms from a space where students mimic to where students think. The practices discussed will intertwine with, and make extensive references to, the best-selling book, Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics (Grades K-12): 14 Teaching Practices for Enhancing Learning.

    The Reading Fluency: Establishing the Foundations for Reading Success training dives deeper into one of the key instructional areas of reading: fluency. Specifically, the training highlights how explicit fluency instruction and practice are essential for reading comprehension.     The purpose of this training package is to promote and encourage student and family involvement in the IEP development process and CSE meetings. Tools, resources, and research-based content are embedded throughout the training to give grounding to the concepts that enhance student participation and parent involvement in student-directed IEPs. Participants will identify ways to meaningfully engage and promote student participation in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and Committee on Special Education (CSE) meeting and discuss how to build and encourage their child's self-determination skills.

    15. Apple Core: Teaching Through Creation - Inspiring PBLA in the Classroom

    This summer professional learning experience is designed to support educators in creating authentic, engaging learning experiences through intentional instructional design and purposeful use of technology. Participants will explore best practices that foster creativity, inclusivity, and deeper learning across content areas, with an emphasis on pedagogy rather than specific tools. While we will have an Apple-led learning experience in the morning, the strategies and approaches shared are transferable to any classroom setting and accessible to all educators, no Apple device necessary!

    Lunch is provided! Afterward, participants will explore the GRASPS framework (Goal, Role, Audience, Situation, Product, Standards) as a structured approach to performance-based learning and assessment. Through guided analysis and group discussion, educators will use the GRASPS framework to revise a current instructional experience from their own classroom, transforming it into a meaningful PBLA opportunity. Participants will gain inspiration for their projects by engaging in a collaborative "steal like an artist” experience, exploring "Inspiration Stations" --a showcase of real classroom project examples such as Breakout EDU, green screen storytelling, design challenges, performances, and community-based learning ideas. Teachers will examine these table examples to identify elements of authenticity, student voice, and engagement.

    Participants will leave with a refined, classroom-ready project plan that incorporates instructional technology and generative AI supports to enhance creativity, organization, and student learning.

    This training was developed by the NYS Education Department Office of Special Education to provide district staff acting in the chairperson role with a best practice approach to the CPSE/CSE process. This training will include the following modules: Regulatory Foundations, Referral, Evaluation, Eligibility, Recommendation/IEP Development, IEP Implementation, Annual Review, Reevaluation, Effective Meetings and the CPSE Process.     17. State Performance Plan (SPP) Indicator 13 Required Regional Learning: Secondary Transition

    Special Education Quality Assurance (SEQA) conducts the State Performance Plan (SPP) 13: Secondary Transition compliance review in the Fall of the school year a district is scheduled for monitoring of SPP Indicator 13 (in accordance with the six-year monitoring cycle). The purpose of this training is to review key concepts of this compliance review to ensure districts are developing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students aged 15 and over that meet SPP Indicator 13 compliance requirements. Districts are required to complete this training the school year prior to undergoing this review. This training is focused on meeting compliance for SPP Indicator 13.

To overcome equity barriers, school leaders need to support educators in utilizing systemic, explicit instruction to teach the skills supported by the science of reading.     Participants will then explore tools and resources through the MagicSchool Choice Board, selecting options that best match their role, grade level, content area, and professional goals.     Let's spend a day learning about IEP development! This session gives you material from 3 trainings in one full day. First, from Creating the IEP, participants will develop an understanding of the components of a quality IEP designed to provide students with disabilities access to the general education curriculum. Next, we will focus on Testing Accommodations, understanding of the types of testing accommodations, as well as how to determine appropriate testing accommodations that meet student needs and document them accurately in an IEP. After lunch, it's time for Measurable Annual Goals. We'll look at relationships between needs in the data-based present levels of performance and prioritized goals, dive deeper into the components of an annual goal, and use the Quality Indicators to evaluate and improve our own IEP goals. Please note: This training requires participants to independently view a total of 12 video modules (7 for IEP and 5 for Testing Accommodations) ahead of time and then attend an in-person session on October 22nd at Monroe 1 BOCES (15 Linden Park) to review the information, ask questions, and use the Quality Indicators to review parts of IEPs. Part 100.1(l) of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education defines Career and Technical Education (CTE) as a kindergarten through adult program area of study that includes rigorous academic content closely aligned with career and technical subject matter, using the State learning standards for career development and occupational studies as a framework.
