EDUC 516M Mercy College
Course dates 2/11/19-4/19/19
This course is designed to develop the conceptual and technical skills required by teachers to help them implement meaningful instructional and behavioral strategies for effective learning by students with disabilities. Students develop the professional skills necessary for the observation and assessment of behavior. In addition, students learn to plan, implement and evaluate behavior management programs for individual students in a variety of learning environments.Students who have previously taken EDUC 654M Behavior Management are not eligible to receive graduate credit for EDUC 516M.
Registration deadline is 2/6/19 and course runs 10 weeks. Participants should log in daily to review and check assignments.
Two Required Text(s): Assessing Learners with Special Needs An Applied Approach 8th edition, ISBN #9780133846591 & Functional Assessment: Strategies to Prevent and Remediate Challenging Behavior in School Settings, 4th edition, ISBN #9780133570854. Books can be purchased at your favorite bookstore.
Approved by NYS Education Department for Students with Disabilities (SWD). Individuals pursuing this additional certificate will apply on their own to the State Education Department, must pass Content Specialty Test for Students with Disabilities and the 3-hour autism workshop.
*tuition includes $20 tech. fee.


IMPORTANT:
Students are not eligible to register for a Mercy sponsored course through NYSUT ELT or UFT if:

-they have already completed 15 Mercy College credits through NYSUT ELT or UFT,
-they are currently matriculated into a Mercy College degree or Advanced Certificate Program,
-they are on a financial hold with Mercy College, or
-they were academically dismissed by Mercy College.
ELT is not responsible for reimbursement of tuition for students who register for any Mercy courses if they meet any of the above criteria.
