Welcome to A.I.opoly, where artificial intelligence becomes the newest-and most disruptive-property on the K-12 education board. This asynchronous conference invites educators, leaders, technologists, and policy shapers to explore the transformative role of AI in our schools-on their own time and at their own pace.

Through engaging session, participants will navigate how AI is reshaping teaching, learning, assessment, equity, and digital citizenship in the K-12 space.

Whether you're just passing "Go” or deep in the game, this conference offers a space to:

  • 2. 🎬 Stop Motion Magic: Creating Engaging Videos with Pizza Box Green Screens & Book Creator

    Transform pizza boxes into DIY green screens and discover the creative power of stop motion animation in this hands-on workshop designed for K-12 educators. You'll learn to plan, film, and edit captivating stop motion videos using simple materials like small objects, Lego, playdough, paper and more! Explore storytelling challenges that spark imagination while gaining practical ideas for integrating stop motion into subjects like ELA, Science, Math, and Social Studies. The session also includes a demonstration of Book Creator, where you'll see how to embed your stop motion videos into digital books, adding text, narration, and reflections for a polished multimedia project. By the end of this experience (complete with a pizza lunch!), you'll walk away with a ready-to-use green screen pizza box and resources to inspire creativity in your classroom.

    3. 2025 NYS Computer Science & Digital Fluency Summer Institute - Grades K - 8 (Smart Start)

    Dates: 8/11/2025 to 8/15/2025

    Hosted by Monroe One BOCES - Facilitated by NYSCATE - Funded by NYSED Smart Start Grant

    4 Day Summer Institute (day 5 is optional) will immersed attendees in the NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards as well as the NYS Social Emotional Learning Benchmarks. Each session will include inclusion activities, engaging strategy, brain breaks and optimistic closings. Educators will experience the standards at work and facilitators will model the standards and instructional technology integration throughout the 4 days while using research artifacts such as articles, videos, and learning experience to increase the knowledge of the attendees. Overarching NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards will be embedded throughout the entire experience are Digital Literacy Standards and Impact of Computing Standards. Educators will adapt and/or create new lessons/units tied to the learning throughout the cohort to integrate the NYS CSDF Standards.

    The four-day Summer Institute includes:  

  • Day #1 - Overview of standards and the "Why", Scope of the Year Ahead, Introduction to Computational Thinking, and Explore & Experience Computational Thinking 
  • Day #2 - Explore and experience the Impacts of Computing and Networks & System Design Concept areas. TPACK Framework integration  
  • Day #3 - Explore and experience the Cybersecurity Concept & Digital Literacy Standards areas and interactive stations with plugged and unplugged learning experiences.  
  • Day #4 - Lesson Creation and presentation, Portfolio Overview 
  • Day #5 - Optional - facilitated work time on lesson adaptation and portfolio creation 

    Attendees: Please bring computer, lesson and or unit to adapt, and lunch

    Join fellow school librarians for Craft and Create, a full-day professional development dedicated to exploring the intersection of crafting and social-emotional learning (SEL). This immersive experience will equip librarians with creative, hands-on activities that foster emotional growth, self-expression, and mindfulness in students-all within the welcoming space of the library.

    Throughout the day, participants will:

    -Learn new craft-based techniques designed to support SEL skills such as self-awareness, resilience, empathy, and emotional regulation.

    -Engage in hands-on workshops covering art therapy-inspired projects, sensory activities, and collaborative creations that encourage reflection and community building.

    -Discover ways to integrate crafting into library programming to support diverse learners in processing emotions and building interpersonal skills.

    -Connect with peers to share ideas, strategies, and success stories in implementing SEL through creative expression.

    By the end of Craft and Create, librarians will leave with a toolkit of ready-to-use activities, a renewed appreciation for the power of creativity, and the confidence to make their libraries a sanctuary for both artistic exploration and emotional growth.

    This day will be a collaboration between Monroe One and Monroe 2 BOCES and is open only to school librarians in those regions.

    In today's AI-infused digital world, teaching students to critically evaluate information is more important than ever. This book study will guide school librarians through Developing Digital Detectives by Jennifer LaGarde and Darren Hudgins, a practical and insightful resource that empowers educators to foster media literacy skills in students.

    Throughout the study, participants will explore key strategies from the book, including how to help students analyze sources, recognize misinformation, and build habits of inquiry. Each session will include discussions on core concepts, real-world applications, and collaborative activities to integrate these skills into library instruction.

    Librarians will leave with:

    -A deeper understanding of the book's framework for developing "digital detectives." -Practical strategies for teaching media literacy in engaging and meaningful ways. -Tools for evaluating sources and guiding students through critical thinking exercises. -A network of peers to share ideas and experiences in media literacy instruction.

    By the end of this book study, librarians will be equipped with actionable approaches to help students navigate the digital landscape with confidence and curiosity.

    This 10-week, asynchronous course will run from October 3-December 12th. This book is really geared for grades 3-8, but activities may be modified for lower or higher grade levels.

    Monroe One SLS has a very limited number of books available to librarians in the Monroe One region who may not have a copy already.
