1. Function Based Thinking (Virtual)

This training provides an overview of understanding challenging behaviors, the behavior pathway, and the function-based thinking process. Function-based thinking is a Tier 1 support that can be used for all students and encourages staff to use the behavior pathway to determine the function of the behavior in order to identify practices to support the function of the student's behavior. This session will be delivered virtually via zoom. Participants will receive materials and the zoom link at least 24 hours prior to the session starting. 2. Creating the IEP & Testing Accommodations

Program: Mid West Regional Partnership Center - CTLE Approved Sponsor

This session blends two trainings into one, with a break in between. Participants will develop an understanding of the components of a quality IEP designed to provide students with disabilities access to the general education curriculum. Additionally, Participants will develop an understanding of the types of testing accommodations, as well as how to determine appropriate testing accommodations that meet student needs and document accurately in an IEP. Please note: This training requires participants to independently view a total of 12 video modules (7 for IEP and 5 for Testing Accommodations) ahead of time, and then attend an in-person session on 5/14 to collaborate and ask questions about the content. Participants must attend the follow-up session in order to receive CTLE credit for the training. Participants will have access to a workspace until 3:00 to do independent work if they choose.

3. EI to CPSE for Professionals

This presentation will guide professionals through the process of transitioning children from Early Intervention to the Committee on Preschool Special Education by learning about the role of the Early Intervention Program and the Committee on Preschool Special Education as it relates to the transition process. 4. Identifying and Intensifying Intervention: What to do and How to do it

Asynchronous with 1 hour Zoom follow up session. This training provides and introduction to essential skills and knowledge necessary to match student needs to instruction, and how to intensify that instruction based on data.

This training will provide participants with information on gathering and incorporating transition information into the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Participants will learn about and understand transition services and the practice of implementation as delineated by NYS Education Law and Regulations; capture and implement these practices into a clearly articulated process; develop practices that support appropriately developed IEPs; and increase the successful transition of youth with disabilities in New York State. Participants will also learn how to document transition planning and services within the IEP.

6. The Best Practices in Progress Monitoring: Effective Assessment for Improving Individual Student Outcomes

The Best Practices in Progress Monitoring: Effective Assessment for Improving Individual Student Outcomes is designed for PreK-12 educators. During this asynchronous training (modules reviewed on your your own through padlet with trainer follow up), participants will gain a better understanding of the fundamentals and implementation of progress monitoring. Participants will define progress monitoring, learn how to implement, and track progress of students. Note: This training requires participants to independently view and interact with 10 online modules and participate in a live 1 hour Zoom follow-up session to collaborate about the content. Participants must attend the live follow-up session to receive CTLE credit for the training.

7. Using the FBA and BIP Process to Support Students Needing Intensive Intervention (2 day series)

Throughout this 2-day series, participants will build fluency with the theoretical foundations on which FBAs and BIPs are based (i.e., the behavioral pathway). They will understand and develop the skills necessary to complete the FBA; learn the components of the Competing Behavior Pathway (CBP) from which to develop the BIP and develop the skills necessary to monitor and evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of the student's BIP. 8. Foundations of Effective Reading Instruction: Understanding the Science of Reading

The purpose of this training is to provide participants with an overview of what the Science of Reading has determined to be the foundational skills needed to become a proficient reader. Participants will explore current instructional practices in reading and the impact it has on reading proficiency. Please note: This training requires participants to independently view online modules, and then participate in a live 1 hour Zoom follow up session to collaborate and ask questions about the content. Participants must attend the live follow up session in order to receive CTLE credit for the training. 9. CPSE Chairperson Training

Participants will gain an understanding of NYSED Regulations to help ensure compliance with CPSE procedures and timelines. Roles of the different CPSE members will be discussed as well as how to encourage and facilitate participation of parents in the provision of preschool special education services for their child. Strategies for ensuring that everyone at the CPSE meeting understands the child's individual evaluation will be presented. Discussion regarding the referral process, transition from the Early Intervention system, and obtaining parent consent will be included. Also included will be the development of a preschool IEP, the preschool continuum of services and the State Performance Plan Accountability system, highlighting SPP # 7 for entry and exit information.

10. NYS Diploma and Credential Options for Students with Disabilities

The goals of this professional development are to ensure that participants understand the Multiple Pathways to Graduation as delineated in New York State laws and regulations. Safety Net options available to support graduation for students with disabilities will also be explored in addition to the requirements for the Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential and the Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Commencement Credential. Discussion of the importance and impact of supporting the self-determination of students to aid in the identification of Pathway options and throughout the transition planning process will also occur.

13. FBA/BIP Day 3 Work Session

Audience: Prerequisite -Using the FBA and BIP Process to Support Students Needing Intensive Intervention. Participants must have attended during the 2023-2024 school year

This half day work session is offered as an extension for all participants that have previously attended the 2-day FBA/BIP series within the 2023-2024 school year. During this supported work session, participants will be able to continue to build their fluency working with FBAs and BIPs by receiving technical assistance and guidance. Participants are encouraged to bring questions to guide technical assistance provided to their district/program. Prerequisite: Must have attended "Using the FBA and BIP Process to Support Students Needing Intensive Intervention" during the 2023-2024 School Year.

14. SPP Indicator 13 Required Regional Learning

Special Education Quality Assurance (SEQA) conducts the State Performance Plan (SPP) 13: Secondary Transition compliance review in the Fall of the school year a district is scheduled for monitoring of SPP Indicator 13 (in accordance with the six-year monitoring cycle). The purpose of this training is to review key concepts of this compliance review to ensure districts are developing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students aged 15 and over that meet SPP Indicator 13 compliance requirements. Districts are required to complete this training the school year prior to undergoing this review. This training is focused on meeting compliance for SPP Indicator 13.

15. CSE Chairperson Training

This training was developed by the NYS Education Department Office of Special Education to provide district staff acting in the chairperson role with a best practice approach to the CPSE/CSE process. This training will include the following modules: Regulatory Foundations, Referral, Evaluation, Eligibility, Recommendation/IEP Development, IEP Implementation, Annual Review, Reevaluation, Effective Meetings and the CPSE Process.
