5. Progress Monitoring in Star Renaissance

Program: Student Support Services: STAR Renaissance Learning

STAR assessments can be used to directly assess and progress monitor reading comprehension, math calculation, and math problem solving. In this session we will learn the steps for setting goals to monitor student progress within STAR. We will also use the Student Progress Monitoring Report to understand how growth rates are reported and the rate of improvement understood.

6. Accelerated Reader / Instructional Reader in Star Renaissance

Accelerated Reader 360 is the most widely used K12 reading practice program, designed based on years of careful research to help teachers introduce students to the magic of books and reading. We will explore resources like nonfiction articles to practice close reading, as well as helping students to choose books about topics they love. We will also look at setting student goals for reading and reports to ensure students are on track.

8. RTI in Star and Star Custom

Program: Student Support Services: STAR Renaissance Learning

STAR can be the backbone of a district’s RTI program to provide data to inform and improve instruction. We will delve into 3 reports in STAR and real-time use of data to make decisions for RTI and instruction:
• Screening
• Progress monitoring
• Diagnostic Reports. We will also use pre-built tests to assess specific reading and math skills, with STAR Custom.

This IDW training workshop will provide a hands-on experience to participants in utilizing IDW reports that would be of particular interest to guidance counselors. During this session, participants will get hands-on experience in utilizing the Regents Max Score Reports, AP Reports, and College Tracking Reports.

11. IDW High School Administrators Hands-on Training

This IDW training workshop will provide a hands-on experience to participants in utilizing IDW reports that are most critical for High School Administrators. Reports emphasized in this workshop will include the following reports: Snapshot, Regents Summary for Elective Exams, Gap, Wrong Answer Summary Analysis, College Tracking, AP Report and Dashboard, District Comparison Regents, District Comparison Diploma Type.

12. Connecting the SAT to Classroom Instruction - ELA

In this workshop, participants gain an overview of the SAT and learn how their curriculum can support student readiness for the exam. They will examine College Board student and teacher resources (including the Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy) for effective integration of SAT skills.

21. NSF Data Collaborative Fellowship

This workshop is the culmination of the three year National Science Foundation Grant that was awarded jointly to Teachers College, Columbia University and Nassau BOCES: Building Community and Capacity for Data-Intensive Evidence-Based Decision Making in Schools and Districts. Participants in this workshop will be matched and partnered with national-level education researchers and data scientists, and will then work together in teams using interactive design-based improvement science frameworks to brainstorm, prototype, and then build innovative visualizations and data tools that will help educators address the needs of their students and community.
