The challenge is not knowing what works in literacy. It is ensuring that what works actually shows up in every classroom. This session focuses on the leadership move required to turn the Science of Reading into coherent, systemwide practice.

In this session, district leaders will explore how to translate the Science of Reading into aligned decisions about professional learning (LETRS) and instructional materials (HQIM). The focus is on moving from isolated efforts to a unified literacy strategy that delivers results.

In this session, we begin by grounding in the core principles of the Science of Reading, separate from one program or product. From there, we examine how LETRS builds the knowledge educators need, and how HQIM ensures that knowledge translates into daily instructional practice.

The critical shift is from "doing initiatives” to making intentional leadership decisions. Participants will analyze how misalignment shows up in real systems, and what it takes to create coherence across training, materials, and expectations.

Leaders will leave with a sharper lens for evaluating their current approach and concrete next steps to strengthen alignment, accelerate implementation, and improve student outcomes.

Key Takeaways:

• Why alignment, not adoption, is the biggest driver of literacy success

• How to leverage LETRS to build knowledge while ensuring it translates into practice

• The role of HQIM in making the Science of Reading visible in daily instruction

• Leadership decision points that make or break implementation

• Immediate actions to strengthen coherence across district literacy efforts
