Physical Computing with Raspberry Pi - This workshop is designed to show teachers how to introduce electronics and coding to their students. Educators will learn how to connect real-world physical elements to their Raspberry Pi, enabling them to create interactive projects that respond to sensors and control outputs like LEDs, motors, and other components. Through hands-on activities, educators will explore how to program their Raspberry Pi to interact with various hardware using Python.
In this workshop, we will cover:
● Getting started with paper circuits
● Getting started with circuits (breadboarding)
● Understanding the basics of how microcontrollers work
● Getting started with the Raspberry Pi
● Connecting the Pi to the breadboard (controlling LEDs and adding components)
● Physical Computing connecting and programming sensors with Python
● Building GUIs using Python to control sensors and other physical elements.
The Raspberry Pi Kit includes:

The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is providing this FREE one-day, hands-on workshop where participants will dive into the Engineering byDesign curricular resources to support the implementation of the STEELS Technology & Engineering Standards. This session will also feature a STEM resource playground (Spheros, Arduinos, VEX Robots, etc.) to explore additional tools that are integrated in the EbD curriculum.

13. IMS Lending Library Certification Workshop

Participants will have the opportunity and time to explore a variety of Computer Science tools and equipment available in the IMS Lending Library, and interact with other educators to brainstorm hands-on classroom uses for integrating Computer Science and STEELS standards. This hands-on session will provide certification for the IMS Lending Materials which includes the StarLab portable planetariums, the AR/VR mobile device kits, and the TransfrVR headsets.

The High Quality Effective Online Teaching Practices online course is designed to equip educators with the tools and strategies needed to excel in the dynamic world of online teaching. Throughout this journey, educators will explore best practices for creating engaging and inclusive virtual classrooms, leveraging technology to enhance learning, and fostering meaningful connections with students.
Whether you are new to online education or looking to refine your skills, this course will provide participants with practical insights and techniques to elevate online teaching practices. The course is divided up into four modules: Quality Online Teaching, Quality Online Instruction & Learning, Effective Instructor Feedback, and Preparing Online Learners for Success. Through job-embedded activities, participants will explore valuable resources to support and promote excellence in online education. Additionally, participants will develop effective strategies and actionable plans to prepare online learners for success in an online learning environment.
A commitment of 2-3 hours per week (15 hours total) is recommended for course completion (15 Act 48 Hours)
