Are you a novice teacher or a teacher who wants a refresh in the profession? During this series, we will explore the instrumental topics in a teacher's career including the classroom, the craft, the conversation, and the community of education. We will delve deeply into the art of teaching with practical ways to address the complexity of the profession. By attending all four sessions, you will be a part of the ESCCO New Teacher Network which will provide you opportunities to stay connected and informed throughout your teaching career. In addition, if interested, you will receive one free 30 minute coaching session by one of our RE trained mentors.

Join a collaborative network of educators dedicated to strengthening literacy outcomes at the Elementary level through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This ongoing professional learning experience will focus on understanding the MTSS model, the teaming systems that lead to effective implementation, data-driven decision-making, tiered instruction with differentiation, and evidence-based interventions to support all readers. Participants will engage in shared learning, problem-solving, and the exchange of best practices to build effective, equitable literacy systems across schools and districts. 8. Central Ohio Special Education Administrators (COSEAs) Network

In collaboration with the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio, we welcome all special education administrators to join colleagues throughout Central Ohio to engage in meaningful discussion on important topics related to special education. Surveys will be sent prior to each session to gain insight into the most critical needs of practicing administrators. The network will be divided into 2 sessions with the first session being from 8:30-11:30am and the second being held from 11:45-1:00pm for new special education administrators.

This professional learning series focuses on effective strategies for literacy vocabulary development, including encouraging wide reading, explicitly teaching specific words, promoting word consciousness, and using context clues. These research-based practices are essential for building a strong vocabulary foundation that supports reading comprehension and overall literacy success. Utilizing the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) Modules on Demand, the series provides structured learning opportunities, followed by coaching and support to help educators implement these strategies effectively in their classrooms. This training is designed for existing teams who have completed Levels 1 and 2 of CSTAG (new members on established teams are welcome). This Level 3 CSTAG refresher training is available through a half-day workshop.

•Best practices (3 case exercises on errors in threat assessment; review of meetings, coaching, and threats to self)

•FERPA and information sharing

20. Exploring Codable Circuits with Makey Makey

Program: ESC of Central Ohio Achievement & Leadership Services

In this course, participants will use block-based coding and everyday materials to create custom controllers, instruments, and other input devices with Makey Makey. After the training, participants will plan and implement a lesson in their own contexts. The final 1-hour virtual session (12/3) will give participants the opportunity to share successful project implementation.

Participants will receive Makey Makey Classics and Craft and Code Booster Kits for their schools!

This course is open only to educators who hold a valid Ohio teaching license.

21. Charting the Path: Using the EL Matrix for Making Informed Decisions

This workshop will guide school teams through the powerful English Learner (EL) Matrix, a collaborative tool designed to help teams make more informed and appropriate decisions for struggling English learners. We will explore how to move beyond basic test scores and delve into a comprehensive, student-centered approach. You'll learn to analyze and synthesize critical data-including parent input, academic testing, observations, and progress monitoring data-to get a deeper understanding of a student's needs. By the end of this workshop, participants will be equipped to use the EL Matrix to determine whether an EL student requires a specific intervention or if a special education referral is a more appropriate path.

The ELL Critical Data Process book and lunch will be provided.

23. Partnering for Purpose: Literacy in Everyday Spaces

Join Adolescent Literacy Consultant Rachel Lang Daniels for a 4-part professional learning series that invites educators to see literacy not just as a toolkit built inside the classroom but also as a skill woven into the world around us. Each session highlights a different strand of literacy-discourse, background knowledge, sentence-level writing, and verbal reasoning-and explores how these practices emerge in authentic, real-world contexts. Participants will engage with hand-on project exemplars and site visits, leaving the series with strategies to help students recognize, practice, and transfer literacy skills beyond school walls.

Literacy Themes:
10/7: Discourse in collaboration with Mason Farr: Meet at the ESC in the AM for PD on discourse with Rachel and then visit the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in the afternoon.
11/20: Building Background Knowledge in collaboration with art teacher Jessica Skinner: Meet at the ESC in the AM for PD on background knowledge with Rachel and spend the afternoon engaged in artwork with Jessica.
1/6: Sentence Analysis in collaboration with Claire Whillans: Meet at the ESC in the AM for PD on sentence-level writing with Rachel and visit the nature center at Highbanks Metro Park in the afternoon.
2/5: Verbal Reasoning in collaboration with a communication expert: Meet at the ESC in the AM for PD on verbal reasoning with Rachel and go off site in the afternoon. Location to be confirmed.

The cost for member districts will be $80 and the cost for non-member districts will be $100. Lunch will be on your own.

This session will focus on integrating compliance into daily practice while maintaining a child-centered approach. Session 2, Dec.9: PBIS in Action: A Preschool Leadership Guide. Discover how to implement and sustain the PBIS framework within preschool environments. Participants will explore proactive strategies for promoting positive behavior, addressing challenging behavior, and supporting social-emotional development. Session 3: Feb.10: Supporting the Whole Child: MTSS Essentials for Leaders Explore how to design and provide an integrated, multi-tiered system of support (I-MTSS) that meets the diverse academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of young children.

37. From Screenless Coding to Python: ​Coding with Ozobots

In this course, participants will learn how to introduce students to computational thinking with screenless coding. They will then work their way through block-based coding and write scripts using python code with Ozobots. After the training, participants will plan and implement a lesson in their own contexts. The final 1-hour virtual session (3/3) will give participants the opportunity to share successful project implementation.

82. From Bits to Bots: Using Hummingbird Kits to Build Interactive Robots

In this course, participants will use block and text-based code to control the Hummingbird's motors, lights, and other sensors, in a way that interacts with the user's environment. This workshop will guide school teams through the powerful English Learner (EL) Matrix, a collaborative tool designed to help teams make more informed and appropriate decisions for struggling English learners. We will explore how to move beyond basic test scores and delve into a comprehensive, student-centered approach. You'll learn to analyze and synthesize critical data-including parent input, academic testing, observations, and progress monitoring data-to get a deeper understanding of a student's needs. By the end of this workshop, participants will be equipped to use the EL Matrix to determine whether an EL student requires a specific intervention or if a special education referral is a more appropriate path.

98. Project Innovation: Cardboard, Circuits, and Code

In this no cost workshop, participants will work through the design process to create physical products from cardboard. Ozobots, Makey Makey, and the Hummingbird kits will then be used to incorporate codable functionality into these cardboard creations.
