1. Small Groups Without the Chaos: Designing Independent Science of Reading-Aligned Literacy Work that Builds Executive Function (Grades 1-5)

"Independent literacy time often breaks down when students lack the routines and executive function skills needed to work on their own. This workshop helps teachers design purposeful, Science of Reading-aligned independent literacy tasks that students can manage successfully while the teacher provides small-group instruction. Participants will explore low-prep activities that support decoding, fluency, vocabulary, word work, and comprehension, along with strategies for teaching routines, visual supports, and self-management skills. Teachers will leave with practical ideas and ready-to-use strategies to strengthen student independence during literacy block. 3.0 hours total.
