1. REPEATED SESSION FROM SPRING: PASA Dynamic Learning Map (DLM) Trainings Asynchronous Schoology Course

Audience: Individuals who administer the PASA DLM, Supervisors of those who administer the PASA DLM, Paraeducators, Other School Staff assisting with taking PASA

Dates: 6/4/2024 to 5/12/2025

This training is mandatory for individuals who administer the PASA DLM and for supervisors of those who administer the PASA DLM. Total training time is 7 hours: 4 hours to be completed asynchronously via online webinars and the remaining 3 hours of training will be offered face-to-face in half-day format (AM or PM) to facilitate hands-on learning. (Register for each separately)

Attendees will receive the Schoology Access Code after successfully registering on Frontline/My Learning Plan on or after June 4, 2024,

6. DATA and Verbal Behavior-Not Another Four Letter Word Asynchronous Schoology Course

Dates: 1/2/2025 to 5/23/2025

This course picks up where the Verbal Behavior and Intensive Teaching left off to answer the questions posed at the end of the course. Participants will take a deeper dive into intensive teaching to explore data systems, reinforcers, mastery of skills, and maintaining a student's variable ratio of reinforcement.

Attendees will receive the Schoology Access Code after successfully registering on Frontline/My Learning Plan.

7. Pairing and Reinforcement Asynchronous Schoology Course

In this two-hour course, participants will learn the basics of reinforcement and pairing. Following instruction and video examples, participants will demonstrate how to pair with students as well as define reinforcement and pairing and the applicable variables that effect these procedures. Learn how to connect with your students and bring on the fun!

8. Running Successful IT Sessions Asynchronous Schoology Course

Dates: 1/2/2025 to 5/23/2025

This intermediate level course will take participants beyond the basic procedures of running intensive teaching. Following the course, participants will describe why fidelity is important, identify and describe expectations within the Intensive Teaching Fidelity Checklist, and relate how the principles of reinforcement apply to intensive teaching sessions.

9. Using the VB-MAPP: From Assessment to Programming Asynchronous Schoology Course

This professional learning series prioritizes student-centered learning, starting with a focus on the station rotation learning model. Participants will gain hands-on experience and strategies for implementing personalized and individualized learning approaches through the three learning modalities: direct, small group instruction; focused independent work; and effective collaborative learning. In this 2-day workshop, attendees will engage in various instructional activities and strategies with direct applications in classrooms including active learning strategies and learner-centered techniques.

*Participants who are invited to attend by their district under an established contract are welcome to register at no additional cost (costs are already included in the established contract). For participants who want to attend the 2 day series outside of a previously established district contract, the cost for IU13 Schools/Districts is $399 per a person and Non-IU13 Schools/Districts is $424 per a person.

20. Gifted Network Meeting

These half-day job-alike gatherings will be facilitated by IU13 and open to any staff invested in supporting the academic growth of gifted/advanced learners and complying with Chapter 16 regulations. A key component of each meeting will be time set aside for collaboration with grade-level, job-alike colleagues. District/school staff will also have the option to plan as a team during a portion of the meeting. Communication for the Gifted Network will primarily take place through Schoology, and anyone interested may join this Group for updates, resources, and discussions.

The access code is FBGZM-ZHCMD. Registration will be required for each meeting for planning and Act 48 purposes. There is NO COST for IU13 district and nonpublic school staff to participate in network meetings.

Participants will have the opportunity and time to explore a variety of Computer Science tools and equipment available in the IMS Lending Library, and interact with other educators to brainstorm hands-on classroom uses for integrating Computer Science and STEELS standards. This hands-on session will provide certification for the IMS Lending Materials which includes the StarLab portable planetariums, the AR/VR mobile device kits, and the TransfrVR headsets.

This Teacher Clarity 2-day professional learning workshop facilitated by Dr. John Almarode, Professor of Education in the College of Education at James Madison University and co-author of the Teacher Clarity Playbook, 2nd Edition, will unpack a process for designing instruction that invites students into the learning process. Working alongside peers, teachers will learn how to explicitly communicate to students what they will be learning on a given day, why they're learning it, and how to know if they were successful. The Teacher Clarity framework encourages a culture of assessment-capable visible learners who take ownership of their learning journey. And when learners have agency, student engagement and achievement soar.

Attendees must participate in the entire training in order to receive the nationally recognized Crisis Prevention Institute content and certification.

This immersive training will provide participants in watershed education, nature studies, and indigenous history exploration.
LETRS is a professional development series for K-12 instruction in reading, spelling, and related language skills based on science of reading research. LETRS modules prepare teachers to become stronger teachers of reading and spelling by building deep knowledge of the structure of the English language and structured literacy instruction. In Module 2, explore phonemes, discuss the importance of phonological awareness in instruction for students in all elementary grades, and address some of the challenges of English learners.

In addition, attendees will explore the effects of trauma and the psychology of the brain on the person in crisis as well as the responding need. This training takes a person-centered approach to help ensure a consistently inclusive and culturally sensitive approach to a person displaying behaviors. Concerns over executive power have existed for as long as there have been executives with power. Fear that an executive would wield power unjustly led to various mechanisms for checking such power in modern states. This workshop will explore executive power in the United States in both theory and practice. How much power do presidents possess and how much should they be given? How has presidential power evolved over time? Because executive power is exercised, in large part, through the bureaucracy, what are the checks on technocratic power? Does the president have unlimited control over the bureaucracy or are there limits to what the president can do with - and to - the bureaucracy? This workshop is designed to answer these, and other, questions by providing historical, constitutional, and analytical tools to better understand executive power. LETRS is a professional development series for K-12 instruction in reading, spelling, and related language skills based on science of reading research. LETRS modules prepare teachers to become stronger teachers of reading and spelling by building deep knowledge of the structure of the English language and structured literacy instruction. In Module 6, explore why children have difficulty with comprehension, the research base for comprehension instruction, and approaches to use for instruction. Comprehension instruction at the phrase, sentence, paragraph and passage levels will be addressed, as well as the role of metacognition.

71. Teaching American History Seminar: Cold War: Containment to Vietnam

The United States policy of Containment was to block the expansion of the Soviet influence. George Kennan believed it "must be a long term, patient but firm and vigilant containment of Russian expansive tendencies.” This seminar will explore that policy and the administrations from Truman to Johnson that used it. This program will be conducted as a discussion, utilizing primary source documents as the only readings, and with the Discussion Leader facilitating the conversation, instead of lecturing or presenting. Registrants, therefore, are highly encouraged to read all the documents in advance and come ready with questions.

The feeding team consists of a speech language pathologist and an occupational therapist extensively trained in the Sequential Oral Sensory Approach (SOS) as well as expertise in oral motor difficulties and dysphagia (swallowing disorder). Physical difficulties that impact eating, as well as sensory needs and food aversions that affect students' mealtime and eating participation will be covered.
