1. PBIS Tier 1 - Day 2 | Designing Lesson Plans

The purpose of this module is to prepare teams/schools to expand the development of establishing school-wide expectations and creating lesson plans to explicitly teach the expectations. This module will establish the importance of explicit instruction, determine a lesson plan format for the creation of the expectation, and develop a system to develop the lesson plan. This training is only open to invited teams and a building administrator is required to attend each session. All participants must sign up for all 3 days of PBIS training. Day 1 training must be completed prior to Days 2 & 3. Goals for this Module:
• Understand why and how to teach appropriate behavior.
• Identify connections to the Danielson Model.
• Analyze the results of the Self-Assessment Survey
• Identify a format for lesson plans
• Develop a plan to include teaching staff in the development of behavior lesson plans.

3. Autism Classroom Training Series (ACTS) Day 1, 2, 3

Program: PD & C Educational Consultants' Events

Audience: Classroom teachers, internal coaches (current or new), paraprofessionals, related service providers, BCBA’s, and administrators.

Dates: 9/17/2025 to 10/29/2025

This three-day training series will provide training and guided practices in teaching skills, as they relate to applied behavior analytic interventions. This series will focus on skills related to teaching students with autism and related developmental disorders. The training will involve having participants demonstrate skills related to identifying the verbal operants and other concepts, developing classroom schedules and card sort systems for teaching, demonstrating procedures for intensive teaching (discrete trial instruction), and basic mand training skills.

The session includes a brief overview of guidelines for the student assessment tool and deriving student programs based on the assessment outcomes. Establishing instructional control and reducing problem behavior will also be discussed.

Registration for this series is for TEAMS only. Attendance for all three days is required, as each training builds upon the previously taught skills. Team members may include classroom teachers, internal coaches (current or new), paraprofessionals, related service providers, BCBA's, and administrators. Individual registrations will not be accepted.

- Teams should include the teacher and at least one other team member from the above list.

- Administration approval is required for team registration. A follow-up meeting with administrators will be scheduled before the first training day to discuss classroom material needs.

6. School Attendance Training Session - Fall 2025

The purpose of this session is to provide school personnel who are new to the school attendance process (or would like a refresher) a basic understanding of the Pa Compulsory Attendance Law, the PDE BEC and the process that needs to be followed especially in Berks County and the resources available for assistance. The workshop will include information about holding a School Attendance Improvement Conference and completing the School Attendance Improvement Plan. The Berks County Protocol and the Advancing School Attendance Program will be reviewed.

Target Audience: Assistant Principals, Attendance Secretaries, School Social Workers, Home School Visitors, and anyone else with a primary responsibility for attendance letters, Student Attendance Improvement Conferences, referrals to ASAP and/or citations.

10. PREPaRE Core Workshop 2 (WS2) Mental Health Crisis Interventions: Responding to an Acute Traumatic Stressor in Schools

Program: Early Childhood & Student Services (ECSS)

Audience: Workshop 2- Mental Health Crisis Interventions: Responding to an Acute Traumatic Stressor in Schools is for individuals who are school mental health professionals, including school psychologists, school counselors, school social workers, as well as behavior specialists, nurses, and local community mental health providers. Individuals should attend as part of a school or LEA team.

The PREPaRE curriculum is a two-part training developed by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) that addresses both crisis prevention and response. Dependent upon an individual's role in the school/ LEA team, they may attend only one or both workshops. The PREPaRE Workshops are designed to be completed by school teams. PREPaRE Workshops provide a framework for schools or LEAS that require administrative support and a team approach to contextualize to their setting and implement with a team approach. PREPARE Core Workshop 2 (WS2) Mental Health Crisis Interventions: Responding to an Acute Traumatic Stressor in Schools is a two-day training focused on mental health intervention and recovery following any type of crisis. Participants will: 1. Report reduced anxiety and fear associated with the provision of school mental health crisis interventions; 2. Report increased knowledge and confidence associated with the provision of school mental health crisis interventions; 3. Identify variables that help to estimate the number of individuals traumatized by a crisis; 4. Recognize the difference between common crisis reactions and mental illness; 5. Identify the elements of school crisis preparedness specified by the PREPaRE acronym; 6. Recognize risk factors that predict psychological trauma; 7. Identify the warning signs that indicate psychological trauma; 8. Place PREPaRE mental health crisis interventions on a multitiered continuum ranging from least to most restrictive; and 9. Match the degree of psychological trauma risk to the appropriate school crisis interventions.

This training series is designed for new teachers and support staff who work in emotional support classrooms. Attendees will learn how to set up their classrooms for academic and behavioral success. Attendees will also learn skills to prevent and manage common behavioral issues, to use reinforcement procedures effectively, and to teach functional skills such as social skills and self-regulation. Participants are encouraged to, but not required to attend both days of training in order to receive training credits.

This two-day training is intended to prepare staff to safely prevent and manage dangerous behavior. Staff learns to intervene professionally and therapeutically using a safe, effective approach designed to prevent or reverse escalation of problem behavior and avoid the use of restraint. Safety Care de-escalation skills work with individuals who can communicate verbally and those who cannot. Safety Care is based on an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) model and focuses on removing/reducing environmental consequences that reinforce problem behavior.

18. C-STAG Threat Assessment Training

The Virginia Student Threat Assessment Guidelines (V-STAG) is an evidence-based model for schools to use in conducting threat assessments in K-12 schools. The model provides a step-by-step process in the manual, Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines, for conducting a threat assessment when a student has made a threat or engaged in threatening behavior. The goal of this model is to prevent violence and return a student to school by understanding why a threat was made and resolving the conflict or problem that stimulated the threat. This model was developed by Dr. Dewey Cornell and colleagues at the University of Virginia and has been widely adopted by schools in Virginia and nationwide.

31. Youth Mental Health First Aide (Virtual)

Mental Health First Aid for Youth is designed to teach school staff, teachers, health, and human services workers how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. Participants will engage with the course asynchronously for approximately 4.5 hours prior to the 4.5 synchronous virtual training. Participants will be able to:



• Recognize the potential risk factors and warning signs for a range of mental health problems including depression, anxiety/trauma, psychosis and psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and self-injury.



• Use a 5-step action plan to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional help.



• Interpret the prevalence of various mental health disorders in the U.S. and the need for reduced negative attitudes in their communities.



• Apply knowledge of the appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help resources available to help someone with a mental health problem treat and manage the problem and achieve recovery.

This one-day re-certification training is intended to refresh previously learned skills and maintain trainee compliance with Safety Care standards. Safety-Care training is intended to prepare staff to safely prevent and manage dangerous behavior. Staff learns to intervene professionally and therapeutically using a safe, effective approach designed to prevent or reverse escalation of problem behavior and avoid the use of restraint. Safety-Care de-escalation skills work with individuals who can communicate verbally and those who cannot. Safety-Care is based on an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) model and focuses on removing/reducing environmental consequences that reinforce problem behavior.

The purpose of this module is to prepare teams/schools to expand the development of establishing school-wide expectations and creating lesson plans to explicitly teach the expectations. This module will establish the importance of explicit instruction, determine a lesson plan format for the creation of the expectation, and develop a system to develop the lesson plan. This training is only open to invited teams and a building administrator is required to attend each session. All participants must sign up for all 3 days of PBIS training. Day 1 training must be completed prior to Days 2 & 3. Goals for this Module:

• Identify connections to the Danielson Model.
• Analyze the results of the Self-Assessment Survey

90. PREPaRE Core Workshop 1 (WS1) Comprehensive School Safety Planning: Prevention Through Recovery

The PREPaRE curriculum is a two-part training developed by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) that addresses both crisis prevention and response. Dependent upon an individual's role in the school/LEA team, they may attend only one or both workshops. The PREPaRE Workshops are designed to be completed by school teams. PREPaRE Workshops provide a framework for schools or LEAS that require administrative support and a team approach to contextualize to their setting and implement with a team approach. PREPaRE Core Workshop 1 (WS1) Comprehensive School Safety Planning: Prevention Through Recovery is a one-day training focused on prevention and preparedness within a comprehensive school safety framework. Participants will: 1. Identify the mission phases of crisis management; 2. Describe the critical importance of and components necessary for a balanced approach to comprehensive school safety and crisis preparedness; 3. Identify how to evaluate and implement physical and psychological safety efforts; 4. Identify the purpose, functions, and guiding principles of developing comprehensive safety and crisis teams and plans to include prevention. mitigation, protection, and response; 5. Identify the critical components, including when developing specific functional and threat- or hazard-specific protocols; 6. Identify the major functions of the Incident Command System (ICS); 7. Articulate specific strategies to address challenges associated with media/social media, communication, reunification, and memorials; 8. Describe how to meet diverse needs, including various cultures and students with disabilities; and identify strategies for examining effectiveness of crisis prevention and preparedness.

93. Safety Care RECERTIFICATION Behavioral Safety Training

This one-day re-certification training is intended to refresh previously learned skills and maintain trainee compliance with Safety Care standards. Safety-Care training is intended to prepare staff to safely prevent and manage dangerous behavior. Staff learns to intervene professionally and therapeutically using a safe, effective approach designed to prevent or reverse escalation of problem behavior and avoid the use of restraint. Safety-Care de-escalation skills work with individuals who can communicate verbally and those who cannot. Safety-Care is based on an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) model and focuses on removing/reducing environmental consequences that reinforce problem behavior.

Determining appropriate assistive technology can seem like a daunting task best left to the experts, but school teams are the experts in their student's needs. Team participation and responsibility are key factors in effective choice and sustained use of all forms of assistive technology. This training will cover how to use the SETT framework with a school team to gather information in determining if assistive technology is needed to support both academic and communication needs. We will also review how and where information can be included in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to document assistive technology. This module aims to build the capacity of participants to serve on a Tier 1 Team by 1) providing definitions and components of SWPBIS and 2) positioning teams to engage in effective teaming and action planning with the use of fidelity tools. This module also ensures that all team members develop an in-depth understanding of the importance of establishing school-wide behavioral expectations. In addition to establishing positively stated expectations, this module will require team members to create a behavior matrix that defines the stated behavioral expectations across all settings of the school community. Team members will also work together to generate a plan for obtaining staff and student feedback on the expectations and matrix. This training is only open to invited teams and a building administrator is required to attend each session. All participants must sign up for all 3 days of PBIS training.
