Come join other Central Ohio Instructional Coaches for the 2026-2027 ESCCO Instructional Coaching Network for a collaborative, professional learning community designed to deepen participants' coaching knowledge and skills through dedicated learning sessions focused on advancing instructional coaching practices This year the network will include a built-in book study of Student-Centered Coaching: The Moves (2nd Edition) by Diane Sweeney, providing opportunities to explore and immediately apply research-based coaching strategies. Participants will engage in structured discussions around problems of practice, share successes and challenges, and build connections through networking and collaborative learning with fellow instructional coaches from around the beltway!

2. 2026-2027 Central Ohio Career Readiness Council Meeting

Program: ESC of Central Ohio Achievement & Leadership Services

Audience: Work-based Learning Leaders, School Counselors, Transition Coordinators, Community Agencies, Training Providers, or anyone who is working to connect students to workforce opportunities.

The goal of the COCRC is to share best practices, tackle career readiness challenges, collaborate, build partnerships and pathways, unpack ODE pivots and policies, network with education, businesses, industries and agencies to create amazing opportunities for our students and partners. October 28 | 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM @ 2080 Citygate Dr. District Spotlight: Innovative Attendance Practices Learn from districts across Central Ohio as they share successful attendance initiatives, diversionary practices, and strategies that have positively impacted student attendance.

December 9 | 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM (Virtual) Legal Updates and Attendance Procedures Receive updates on attendance related legislation, juvenile court processes, filing procedures, and best practices for maintaining compliance while supporting students and families.

February 10 | 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM (Virtual) Community Partnerships and Student Voice Explore ways to strengthen community partnerships and intentionally include students and families in attendance improvement efforts. Discuss strategies that promote authentic engagement and shared ownership.

4. CPSN Industry Recognized Credential Redesign Bundle Workshop

Join the Central Region Career Pathway Support Network on September 21st from 8:00-noon for a regional Industry-Recognized Credential (IRC) Bundle Submission Workshop. This workshop will focus on finalizing new bundles of IRC's to be submitted to the state for review and approval by the ODEW IRC Committee. 

The workshop will be held at Columbus State Community College, Main Campus in the Workforce Development Conference Center and is free to attend.

8. New Intervention Specialist Academy: The Essential Foundations Series

Starting a career as an Intervention Specialist means stepping into a role that's part advocate, part instructional expert, and part systems navigator-often all before lunch. This four-part series is designed to meet new Intervention Specialist exactly where they are: ready to serve students well, but looking for the footing to do it with confidence. From defining the role itself, to turning IEPs into instructional roadmaps, to delivering specially designed instruction that builds independence instead of dependence, to supporting the whole student within a larger team-each session lays another foundational brick. 9. Refresher Training of the Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines

Program: ESC of Central Ohio Achievement & Leadership Services

This training is designed for existing teams who have completed Levels 1 and 2 of CSTAG (new members on established teams are welcome). This Level 3 CSTAG refresher training is available through a half-day workshop.

Topics include:

•Concept of threat assessment

•Interviewing to identify the four threat categories; the safety interview

•Best practices (3 case exercises on errors in threat assessment; review of meetings, coaching, and threats to self)

•FERPA and information sharing

•Fairness and equity, role of law enforcement

•Case management and interviewing exercise

12. Central Ohio Digital Wellness Summit: Building Healthy, Intentional Tech Habits Across Our School Communities | Registration Limited to ESC Member School Districts

** Registration for this workshop is available to educators in the ESC of Central Ohio's member districts. ** Used intentionally, technology can enrich learning - but protecting student well-being requires a clear, deliberate strategy. Join fellow K-12 educators and district leaders at the ESC of Central Ohio for a collaborative, one-day summit dedicated to building healthy, balanced technology habits across school communities. Featuring keynote speaker Alana Winnick, Educational Technology Director, author, and former COSN CTO of the Year and Danielle Tymitz, Director of Professional Learning for ETLA, this event will offer field-tested frameworks and practical resources to help schools foster student digital well-being. Tailored for K-12 teachers, instructional and technology coaches, media specialists, curriculum and technology directors, and administrators, participants will leave equipped with actionable strategies to lead high-value digital wellness initiatives in their buildings. Lunch is included in the $75 per person cost. For school teams of 5 or more, the total cost is $200. (Team members should register individually. The Central Region New CTE Teacher Workshops are the Career Pathway Support Networks (CPSN) professional learning series for educators new to Career and Technical Education. Across four sessions each school year, new CTE teachers build a foundation in classroom practice, program compliance, and industry partnership while joining a cohort of peers who support one another well beyond year one.

Topics for this workshop session include the History of CTE, WebXam, Work-Based Learning, updates on Redesigned Industry Recognized Credentials, IEP's, Career Connected Learning Framework and lots more!

15. Central Ohio Counselor Network (COCN) - Charting the Life Course: Supporting Students with Disabilities

This free network provides a professional forum for school counselors to engage in collaboration, share best practices, and analyze trends and developments within the field of school counseling, with the ultimate goal of promoting student success. Mark your calendars for curated sessions suggested for and by Central Ohio counselors!

Join us in supporting your students' lifelong success! The Charting the LifeCourse framework was created to help individuals and families of all abilities and all ages develop a vision for a good life, think about what they need to know and do, identify how to find or develop supports, and discover what it takes to live the lives they want to live. The framework is the keystone for supporting a community of learning that champions transformational change through knowledge exchange, capacity building, and collaborative engagement. The Charting the LifeCourse framework is an authentic grassroots activity, driven by the core belief that "all people have the right to live, love, work, play and pursue their life aspirations.” Driven by the quest to answer the question, "what do families need to know to support their family member with a disability across the lifespan”, it has now evolved into a transformative human-centric movement impacting policies and practices across the country.

We will have a virtual follow-up on Monday 11/9, from 9-10am. The follow-up will focus on implementation and results.

This 2-part series is NO COST for counselors and $50 for district teams.

16. LETRS Units 1-4

Program: ESC of Central Ohio Achievement & Leadership Services

Audience: K-12 Teachers

LETRS Units 1-4 provides teachers with the knowledge needed to master the fundamentals of literacy instruction. Educators will acquire knowledge in the areas of phonological awareness and phonics. Take aways from this training are understanding the why and how of providing foundational literacy instruction. The course facilitator will focus strongly on a theory to practice framework.

Course materials must be purchased by contacting Lauren Hazlip at Lexia Learning (lauren.hazlip@lexialearning.com) Participants will receive a bundle consisting of LETRS textbook and 1 year online access to modules, for 399.00.

The Gifted Teacher Collaborative blends high-impact professional development with real-world exploration, equipping you to design practical, classroom-ready experiences using Problem-Based Learning (PBL), STEM, and authentic community connections. Each day is split into two immersive components: Morning Deep Dive (PD Session): Collaborate with peers to learn strategies for implementing independent learning projects, embedding ST, and scaffolding complex, real-world tasks for students who need an extra challenge. Afternoon Experiential Visit: Step out of the traditional classroom to visit local learning sites that showcase authentic learning in action. 27. Preparing for Graduation at all Levels

Preparing students for graduation begins long before they enter high school. This professional learning session will explore how educators and school leaders can establish systems and instructional practices that support students on the path toward graduation beginning with their first day in a school or district-whether that is preschool, kindergarten, middle school, or high school. Participants will examine the importance of developing and implementing graduation plans and using Early Warning Indicators, including attendance, course performance and completion, and behavior to identify students who may be at risk of not graduating. Emphasis will be placed on using data proactively to identify student needs, monitor progress, and connect students to appropriate supports and interventions before concerns become barriers to graduation. The session will also explore the connection between strong daily instruction and long-term graduation outcomes. Participants will consider how evidence-based literacy practices aligned with the Science of Reading can be incorporated across content areas and how High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) can support access to rigorous, grade-level instruction for all learners, including students with disabilities. Throughout the session, participants will consider graduation preparation as a shared, system-wide responsibility that connects high-quality instruction, early identification, data-based decision making, and a coordinated continuum of supports to help students remain engaged, make academic progress, and successfully prepare for graduation and life beyond high school.

35. Behavior Management: Prevent, Teach. Reinforce

This session is designed for preschool teachers, administrators and teams seeking effective, evidence-based strategies to address complex behaviors. Participants will explore the Prevent-Teach-Reinforce (PTR) model, a collaborative, function-based process that emphasizes prevention of challenging behavior through environmental adjustments, explicit teaching of desired replacement skills, and reinforcement of positive behaviors to support lasting behavioral change. The PTR framework can be applied at the classroom level, as a Tier 2 intervention and in a team-based problem-solving process. Practical examples and tools will support participants in the development of individualized behavior plans that promote social-emotional development, and inclusive learning environments for young children. This ongoing professional learning series is designed to build district and school capacity to implement high-quality, sustainable literacy systems that improve outcomes for all learners. Participants will deepen their understanding of the Ohio IMTSS framework, including the systems and teaming structures that support effective implementation, data-based decision-making, tiered instruction and differentiation, evidence-based literacy practices and interventions, and continuous improvement processes. The Gifted Teacher Collaborative blends high-impact professional development with real-world exploration, equipping you to design practical, classroom-ready experiences using Problem-Based Learning (PBL), STEM, and authentic community connection. January's session is split into two immersive components: The morning will be the experiential visit: Step out of the traditional classroom to visit a local learning site that showcases authentic learning in action. The afternoon will be a deep dive (PD Session): Collaborate with peers to learn strategies for implementing independent learning projects, embedding ST, and scaffolding complex, real-world tasks for students who need an extra challenge. You will receive 5 gifted hours for each session you attend, for a total of 15 hours.

The SST 11 Transition Network is a collaborative learning opportunity designed to support educators in strengthening transition planning and improving postsecondary outcomes for students with disabilities. The network will meet three times during the 2026-27 school year in September, February, and April. Each session will provide opportunities for participants to build knowledge, share practices, problem-solve current transition needs, and connect transition requirements to meaningful planning and instruction. Building Student Hope with Families explores how schools can strengthen student hope by partnering intentionally with families. Because children spend the vast majority of their lives outside of school, family partnerships are essential for reinforcing hope, resilience, and belonging beyond the classroom. Participants will explore research on hope and family engagement and leave with practical strategies for communicating and collaborating with families to create consistent, hope-building experiences across home and school.

67. Transition Network

The SST 11 Transition Network is a collaborative learning opportunity designed to support educators in strengthening transition planning and improving postsecondary outcomes for students with disabilities. The network will meet three times during the 2026-27 school year in September, February, and April. Each session will provide opportunities for participants to build knowledge, share practices, problem-solve current transition needs, and connect transition requirements to meaningful planning and instruction. Topics will include: Writing compliant and meaningful transition plans Selecting and using Age-Appropriate Transition Assessments Developing appropriate transition services and activities Writing measurable postsecondary goals and aligned transition services Progress monitoring transition goals and student progress Graduation planning and connecting graduation requirements to postsecondary goals Sharing resources, strategies, and effective practices for supporting students as they prepare for life after high school The Transition Network is recommended for Transition Coordinators, Intervention Specialists, Special Education Coordinators, and other educators involved in transition planning and services. Participants are encouraged to bring current questions, challenges, and examples from their districts to engage in collaborative problem-solving and learning.

Participants will explore how behavior can serve as a form of communication and gain practical strategies for recognizing warning signs, responding to student needs, and connecting students with appropriate supports and mental health resources.

The Central Region New CTE Teacher Workshops are the Career Pathway Support Networks (CPSN) professional learning series for educators new to Career and Technical Education. Across four sessions each school year, new CTE teachers build a foundation in classroom practice, program compliance, and industry partnership while joining a cohort of peers who support one another well beyond year one.

Each session does build on the previous sessions; however, you do not need to attend all of them in order to participate. Some of the topics we will cover at the meetings include: the History of CTE, WebXam, Work-Based Learning, updates on Redesigned Industry Recognized Credentials, IEP's, Career Connected Learning Framework and lots more! 73. IMTSS Literacy Network

Join a collaborative network of educators committed to strengthening literacy outcomes for students at both the elementary and secondary levels through Ohio's Integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (IMTSS). This ongoing professional learning series is designed to build district and school capacity to implement high-quality, sustainable literacy systems that improve outcomes for all learners. Participants will deepen their understanding of the Ohio IMTSS framework, including the systems and teaming structures that support effective implementation, data-based decision-making, tiered instruction and differentiation, evidence-based literacy practices and interventions, and continuous improvement processes. Through collaborative learning, networking, and problem-solving, participants will examine effective practices, share implementation successes and challenges, and develop actionable strategies to strengthen equitable literacy systems within their schools and districts. Recommended Participants (District and Building Teams Encouraged): District Administrators, District Literacy Leaders, Building Administrators, Curriculum Directors/Coordinators, Special Education Directors/Coordinators, Teacher Leaders, MTSS Leaders/Coordinators, Instructional Coaches. This training is designed for new multidisciplinary teams who will be trained to use CSTAG in a full-day program that covers the following Level 1 and 2 topics.

•Scientific evidence supporting CSTAG (Safety outcomes; Fairness and equity)

This training is designed for existing teams who have completed Levels 1 and 2 of CSTAG (new members on established teams are welcome). This Level 3 CSTAG refresher training is available through a half-day workshop.

Topics include:
•Concept of threat assessment
•Interviewing to identify the four threat categories; the safety interview
•Best practices (3 case exercises on errors in threat assessment; review of meetings, coaching, and threats to self)
•FERPA and information sharing
•Fairness and equity, role of law enforcement
