This Demco Book Care Workshop will provide book care training with the aim of helping librarians keep their collection in circulation longer. Training includes protection and repair techniques and offers: a hands-on experience, ideas for protecting books ahead of circulation, and tried-and-true methods for a variety of repairs. Workshops typically cover how to do basic page repairs, tip-ins, hinge and spine repairs, book jacket and laminate applications, and how to reinforce spines. 36. PREPaRE School Crisis Prevention and Intervention Workshop 2: Responding to an Acute Traumatic Stressor in Schools, 3rd edition - Cycle 2

Participants will develop the knowledge and skill required to provide immediate mental health crisis interventions to the students, staff, and school community members who have been simultaneously exposed to an acute traumatic stressor. The knowledge and skill developed within this session also helps to build a bridge to the psychotherapeutic and trauma-informed mental health response sometimes required to address challenges associated with trauma exposure.

The struggle is real. But productive struggle is more than a catchphrase. It is the result of six actions that teachers take so that students struggle, persevere, and succeed. In this session, participants learn about how productive struggle in mathematics is grounded in values, identity, community, planning, support, and reflection. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training through Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. is a nationally recognized program designed to teach staff and building level teams to intervene in a safe, non-harmful manner when students become disruptive or violent. Participants will learn preventive techniques, therapeutic physical intervention and prevention assessments.

Attendees must participate in the entire training in order to receive the nationally recognized Crisis Prevention Institute content and certification.

Close partner practice of physical techniques is a required component of the training.

94. Transition Network Meeting-Self Advocacy Youth Coordinator - PEAL Center-VIRTUAL MEETING

Transition Council (TC) is a network of parents, consumers, educators, and community service providers helping students with special needs in their transition from school to adult life. Meetings will: inform parents of available transition supports from the school and the community; establish a communication link from school to family to community services; identify community issues and suggest possible resolutions; and work toward achieving successful student transitions from school to adult life. Meetings include guest speakers and open conversation between parents, educators, and agency representatives to exchange ideas.

Yearly IEP meetings address student needs, accommodations and goals. A student who is turning 14 years old is getting ready to create a transition plan with their IEP team about their future. Learning to advocating for themselves is a very important skill and takes time to mature. PEAL Center Youth Coordinators and Self Advocates are important community partners to have at these meetings.

95. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Initial Training

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training through Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. is a nationally recognized program designed to teach staff and building level teams to intervene in a safe, non-harmful manner when students become disruptive or violent. Participants will learn preventive techniques, therapeutic physical intervention and prevention assessments.

Attendees must participate in the entire training in order to receive the nationally recognized Crisis Prevention Institute content and certification.

Close partner practice of physical techniques is a required component of the training.

Please dress casually with sneakers or rubber-soled closed-toe shoes. For your safety, you may be asked to remove jewelry.
