Participants will explore sample student writing, apply scoring guidelines, and calibrate with peers to build a shared understanding of what high-quality TDA writing looks like. Learn how to give meaningful feedback, recognize key patterns in student responses, and use assessment data to inform instruction.

Discover how the free activities in Desmos Classroom can empower educators to engage students in meaningful mathematical modeling exercises that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of math concepts. By leveraging its interactive, student centered, asset-based features, Desmos Classroom empowers students to playfully explore mathematical modeling pursuits by providing an engaging learning environment that cultivates a deeper appreciation for the magic of math. This daylong workshop is for the new gifted teachers, however, veteran gifted teachers are welcome to come for updates, supports, and collaboration opportunities. Topics will include an overview of PA's definition of gifted education, Chapter 16, GIEP Goal Writing, and a review of the forms that support gifted education. This workshop will be held in person at MIU IV from 9AM - 3PM with a 1hour on your own lunch break.
