Questar III School Improvement partners with Mr. Howard Moody, author of "The Heart of Play" and experienced leader of play workshops for educators, parents, counselors, and others looking to bring more play and connection into children's lives, to lead this interactive session. Details: A core need for children is the need for belonging. Being part of a learning community where the child's well-being is nurtured is crucial for creating an environment ripe for learning. One of the best ways to create connection, community, and belonging is through engaged, well led social play experiences. Playfulness as a learned skill is vital in creating social connections which is much needed in this time, Post COVID. Play, for all ages of students, is an active and real way for students to feel and express their joy and it is also a remarkable tool for emotional regulation and learning effective social skills. This workshop is ideal for teachers of students in grades 3 - 8 but would be applicable for K-12 teachers, teacher leaders, school counselors, administrators, and support staff.
