Our keynote will be given by John Schu, famed author and school librarian, who will inspire in us the joy of libraries and the love of reading for ourselves and our students. After the keynote, there will be breakout sessions for Principal's Academy and separate breakout sessions for school librarians, then we'll join together for a celebratory lunch and award ceremony. We'll have a full day of celebrating all things school library!

"This four-session professional development series introduces educators to practical AI tools designed to enhance productivity and streamline educational tasks. Offered monthly on the last Thursday from 3-4 PM via Zoom, participants will explore foundational AI prompting techniques and learn to leverage specific platforms including Magic School, NotebookLM, and Google Gems to create resources, transform content, and automate routine tasks.

Educators will learn to create and deploy custom Google Gems-personalized AI assistants designed to automate repetitive tasks and accelerate workflow completion across various educational responsibilities.

12. Developing an Effective Student Exit Summary

This training contains information on the development and provision of an effective exit summary for students. It will cover both the traditional exit summary, and the exit summary provided with the Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential.

The goals of this training are to ensure participants will recognize and identify:
1. Analyze the importance of students' self-determination skills in making the SES a meaningful and relevant document
2. Learn the federal and state requirements for the SES
3. Recognize and identify the required components of the SES

22. Book Study: Five Kinds of Nonfiction

When students understand the characteristics of the five categories, they can predict the type of information they're likely to find in a particular book and how that information will be presented. As a result, they can quickly and easily identify the best books for a particular purpose (early stages of research, later stages of research, mentor texts in writing workshop, etc.) as well as the kind of nonfiction books they enjoy reading most.

This virtual book study consists of five 1-hour Meetings throughout the summer.

The IMSE Orton-Gillingham Plus (OG+) course and curriculum equips educators with the essential strategies, tools, and resources to teach foundational literacy skills effectively. Designed for seamless implementation across all Response to Intervention (RTI) tiers, OG+ provides explicit guidance on adjusting instructional scaffolds to support intervention, core instruction, and acceleration based on student needs. The curriculum also includes specialized resources to support English Learners, ensuring equitable access to effective literacy instruction. OG+ covers all critical components of structured literacy, including phonological awareness, phonics, word analysis, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing. Embedded ongoing assessments allow educators to monitor student progress and make data-driven instructional decisions to meet the needs of all learners. The OG+ Curriculum provides daily lesson plans and structured routines for key literacy components, ensuring consistent and practical instruction. Educators have access to step-by-step guidance for phoneme blending and segmenting, word chaining, cumulative review, spelling, reading, vocabulary, and interactive read-alouds that focus on oral language and comprehension.

Orton Gillingham Plus Training- cost per participant is $1735, which includes all Kindergarten through 2nd grade materials.

This session will immerse participants in the BTC methodology while also unpacking the research-based practices that will help shift classrooms from passive learning spaces to active thinking environments. IMSE's Orton-Gillingham Plus (OG+) 2025 Transition Support is designed for districts with educators trained in IMSE's Comprehensive OG+ prior to June 2025 who are transitioning to IMSE's 2025 OG+ Teacher Guides (released in June 2025). This course provides guidance and support for implementing the updated processes and content included in the 2025 OG+ Fidelity Companion and Teacher Guides. This includes changes in core and intervention lesson components as well as additional features that are new in the 2025 OG+ materials. The course also covers updated OG+ assessments. Additionally, participants will learn about IMSE LAB, IMSE's online platform for lesson planning and assessment data.

The OG+ 2025 Transition Support Course is offered in three formats:

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) requires that candidates applying for certification, including educators with initial certification applying for professional certification, complete 6 hours of coursework or training on harassment, bullying, cyber bullying, and discrimination in schools [Article 2 Sections 10-18 of the Education Law]. This training also addresses microaggressions and social patterns of harassment, bullying, and discrimination.

This fully ASYNCHRONOUS workshop runs from August 5-26, 2026. Participants work at their own pace during this window, to complete all tasks and assignments by the course end date (August 26, 2026). The course is composed of seven learning sessions, including a "getting started" introduction and 6 modules consisting of recorded lectures, videos, readings, and activities.
