This course is designed to equip educators with the Spanish proficiency needed to communicate effectively in educational settings. It places a strong emphasis on cultural competence, recognizing that understanding
cultural diversity is essential for creating a more inclusive and supportive learning environment. By building these skills, participants will be better prepared to connect with Spanish-speaking students and their families.
Whether you're a beginner or have some prior knowledge of Spanish, this course will help you develop essential interpersonal language skills. Rather than focusing on introductory language concepts, the course will engage participants in real-life scenarios, such as conducting parent-teacher conferences, giving instructions, and gathering information. Through interactive drills and exercises, educators will enhance their ability to understand and respond to basic verbal and written Spanish communication.
Active participation is key-students will be required to keep their cameras on, engage in breakout room activities, and collaborate with peers to strengthen their language skills.
This is a comprehensive, synchronous course delivered via Zoom. (15 CTLE hours)
