New Starting in 2026-27, the NYSMHA Coaching Program will be available through BOCES as a shared service service . Our Mental Health Coaching Program is designed to support and strengthen school-based mental health professionals at every stage of their careers. Through personalized coaching, skill-building, and professional development, we help providers navigate challenges, enhance their effectiveness, and grow in confidence.
The program focuses on reducing burnout, increasing self-efficacy, and ensuring that mental health professionals have the tools and support they need to make a lasting impact. To date, we've seen remarkable outcomes, 100% retention among coached clinicians since 2022, significant increases in self-efficacy, and strong feedback on its transformative effect on professional confidence and connection. This year alone, 47 coachees from our partner districts are actively engaged in the program. I will send each district a list of participating coachees within the next few weeks. Historically coachees have stayed in the program 2-3 years.
Each coachee receives:
• Coaching Training: 6 hours annually
• Coaches Community of Practice: Monthly (1x/month)
• Coachees Newsletter: Monthly
• Individual Coaching: 1 hour/month (minimum) for 10 months (September-June) To be determined by coach and Coachee
• Coaching Data Collection: Self-efficacy, burnout, and retention metrics (September & June)
• Annual Report to Districts summarizing outcomes and recommendations
