THIS IS A 5-day VIRTUAL TRAINING!!

August 25, 26, 27, 28, 29.

Offered by the Rose Institute for Learning and Literacy, Orton-Gillingham is a structured, multisensory approach to literacy instruction developed by Dr. Samuel Orton and Anna Gillingham in the early 20th century. It uses pathways to the brain-seeing, saying, hearing, and kinesthetic (handwriting)-to teach foundational literacy skills. This diagnostic, research-based approach addresses language processing difficulties and emphasizes the rules and patterns of English to help students decode words independently.

The Classroom Educator Training introduces participants to the essential components of Orton-Gillingham, including phonology, basic phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and the structure of the English language. Topics cover dyslexia, multisensory instruction strategies, lesson planning, and using assessments for group instruction.

Designed for general and special-education teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists, speech and reading specialists, instructional assistants, and tutors, the course offers 30 hours of training (P-3 Tier 1 curriculum) and is taught by an Orton-Gillingham Fellow. It serves as the first step toward certification by the Orton-Gillingham Academy of Practitioners and Educators. Course materials are included in the cost and will be sent directly to participants.

NOTE: Last day of registration to allow for shipping of materials will be August 8, 2025. Additionally, please be advised that each registrant is requested to log in from their own device for the duration of this 5-day training.

Feb 26 (Thurs) – Snow: Mar 12
Mar 24 (Tues)

As teachers, we bring more than lesson plans and curriculum into the classroom -we bring our full selves. Informed by the powerful insights of Dr. Courtney Rose's Woven Together, this 4-session virtual workshop series invites educators to explore how our identities shape the way we teach, connect with students, and build classroom communities. We'll explore the complex layers of personal and collective identity. Together, we'll engage in critical self-reflection, storytelling, and dialogue as tools for deepening understanding, cultivating belonging, and fostering culturally responsive relationships in classrooms. Participants will be guided through key concepts from Woven Together, using Dr. Rose's framework to examine how identity intersects with teaching, classroom community, and school culture.

Whether you are a classroom teacher, teacher's assistant or counselor, this workshop will offer you practical strategies and courageous inspiration to build more just, authentic, and connected learning environments.

Key Takeaways:
- Reflect on & explore how your identity influences your teaching practice;
- Engage in storytelling as a transformative tool for connection, building trust and empathy;
- Learn strategies to foster inclusive, affirming and empowering school communities;
- Reflect on how to teach and lead with authenticity, equity, and purpose.

Let's come together as educators to weave stronger, more human connections -within ourselves, our students, and in our classrooms.
