1. TEACHER EVALUATOR RECERTIFICATION USING DANIELSON OBSERVATION METHOD

As mandated by APPR regulations, for all Administrators doing Teacher Evaluation, facilitated by Dr. Deb Deluca. Dr. Deluca works with many schools to develop inter-rater reliability and deeper understanding of the Danielson rubric for observation. This three (3) hour virtual workshop updates administrators who evaluate teachers and principals under the most recently passed legislation and State Education Department regulations. This is an annual requirement under the legislation. The workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to review classroom videos in order to practice using the District rubrics for evaluating teacher observations. In addition, we will discuss collecting evidence, alignment with the rubric and providing feedback to teachers. 8:30 am-11:30 am

2. NEW TEACHER EVALUATION - FOR NEW TEACHER EVALUATORS (NO CHARGE TO DISTRICTS)

This online training is designed for lead evaluators who are required to be trained in the nine elements outlined by the New York State regulations regarding teacher evaluation. This course is conducted online with opportunities to participate in live video chats as well as live presentations. The training has eight modules which cover the required elements stipulated in the regulations. The modules will allow participants to view videos, review articles, post to a bulletin board and/or wiki as well as submit assignments. Completion of all of the required elements of this training will provide the participant evidence of training to submit to the appropriate authority in the participant's district for approval as a Lead Evaluator. TAPS: Tenure Attainment Program Steps is an induction program provided by the PTC to supplement each district's mentoring program. Participants will attend monthly meetings as well as participate in a book study. Topics for TAPS Year 1 will include but will not be limited to: Classroom Management, The Importance of Positive Expectations, Culturally Responsive Teaching, Lesson Design, and The Importance of Reflection and Continued Professional Development

4. NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION COHORT 2023-2024

Audience: Certified Tenured Teachers

Cohorts for National Board Certification offer an opportunity for sustained and collaborative support to teachers and guidance counselors. Under the guidance of NBCTs as Professional Learning Facilitator Kristy Eberhart, this program offers assistance in processing applications, peer review, linkage with content experts and collegial support. This group will meet monthly throughout the year and begin with Component 2. To become a Board-certified teacher, eligible candidates must demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, and practice in their individual certificate area by completing four components: three portfolio entries and a computer-based assessment. Throughout the certification process, teachers will be able to apply the National Board Standards to their classroom practice and connect with other teachers pursuing certification. $250 Payable to Peconic Teacher Center, due by 9/10/2022. A minimum of 5 teachers are needed to register for the course to run. The purpose of this training is to explore options for professional development moving forward. We will redefine what it means to help teachers improve, reevaluate existing supports and programs and reinvent how we support effective teaching at scale. This is intended for Peconic Teacher Center Policy Board members and a portion of it will be public. These will count as the mandatory meetings for the year.

This course presents an examination of the duties and responsibilities of the school business administrator including an understanding of the role in relation to other members of the administrative team. Also examined during the course are other aspects of the business administrator's work such as office management, budget procedures, financial management, accounting and auditing, purchasing and supply management, insurance programs, capital outlay and debt service, school plant operation and maintenance, food service and transportation. Please note, tuition for this course of $1245 must be paid to and received by The Peconic Teacher Center at 141 Narrow Lane, Southampton NY 11968 by Wednesday March 13, 2024. Participants with outstanding balances will not be registered for the course through Stony Brook.

18. HHS 574 Foundations of Bilingual Ed (SPEECH PATHOLOGISTS ONLY)

Program: Graduate Courses

Dates: 3/18/2024 to 6/2/2024

This is a required clinical/seminar for students pursuing their Bilingual Extension certification in speech language pathology. Students are required to earn a minimum of 50 clinical clock hours in a bilingual school setting. There is a seminar which meets once weekly to allow students to discuss evidence-based practice assessment and intervention in the school setting, models of service delivery, multicultural diversity, advocacy and outreach, classroom management, NYS Standards, educating family, collaboration with professionals, and reflect about their clinical experiences. This is for SPEECH PATHOLOGISTS ONLY. If you are a teacher, you need to register for CEF 574 instead. Please submit payment of $941 to The Peconic Teacher Center by Wednesday March 13th. Any participants who have outstanding balances for this and previous coursework will be removed from the Stony Brook Cohort. 20. Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain Asynchronous Book Study

This is an asynchronous online book study of Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain, by Zaretta Hammond. "Promoting Authentic Engagement and Rigor Among Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students" The achievement gap remains a stubborn problem for educators of culturally and linguistically diverse students. Diverse classrooms need a proven framework for optimizing student engagement and facilitating deeper learning. Culturally responsive pedagogy has shown great promise in meeting this need, but many educators still struggle with its implementation. 21. Restorative Practices Double Book Study
