In this course participants work through a series of math inquiries and problems related to non renewable energy use, sustainability (footprints), global population, engineering and music. In the process the math analysis serves to lend insights into broad world issues and students discover new ways that math serves to reveal understanding of a wide range of real world phenomena. Participants will have a large menu of possibilities to choose from for application in their classrooms. The work is content rich in algebra, functions, modeling, equation solving, computation and more. The highly differentiated, open ended and tiered structure allows engagement by learners of diverse abilities.
